In keeping to his promise made prior to the 2023 governorship elections, the Special Assistant to Akwa Ibom State Governor on Transport, Hon Idongesit Samuel has hosted a thank - you meeting with the people of Uyo Urban Ward 1.

Addressing the gathering, Hon Samuel popularly known as Mafia, said the meeting was an avenue to appreciate the people of the ward for the support and votes given to Governor Umo Eno in the last election.

He noted that it was also an opportunity to openly appreciate the Governor for considering him to work in his team, adding that Pastor Umo Eno is a dependable and most reliable leader who has a perfect reward system.

The SA Transport who was flanked by his wife, recalled his political journey begining as personal assistant to Dr Chris Nyong, the then local government chairman of Uyo, and appealed to the people of the ward to join him in appreciating the governor whom he said has remarkably impacted on his family.

He appreciated the Governor for making everyone proud by keeping to his campaign promises especially in the areas of workers welfare through payment of arrears of gratuity to retired workers and the 13th month salary to civil servants.

Hon Samuel who is the youth leader of the ward, said in line with the seeming political tradition in the State, Pastor Umo Eno will like past governors, govern for eight years and called on the people of the area to continue to support Governor Umo Eno for the greater good of the State.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman on the occasion and political leader of the ward, Dr. Chris Nyong appreciated the Governor for finding their son worthy to work in his team.

He said given the antecedent of Hon. Samuel, especially as his personal assistant, he was not surprised by his political growth.

Hon Nyong commended Samuel for remembering the people of his ward and for putting smiles on the faces of the women especially the aged and wretched.

He noted that having recognized and appointed their son, as well as the different development projects in the State, the ward will continue to support him even through his second term.

In their separate goodwill messages, the unit and ward women leaders, friends and colleagues of Idongesit Samuel, including Idara Adiakpan onbehalf of other close aides of the Governor, appreciated Hon Samuel for the gesture and urged the people to remain commited in their support for Governor Umo Eno for more dividends of democracy.

High point of the event was the sharing of the wrappers to 100 women selected from the different units and villages that make up the ward.
