Studies in the Scriptures - Editions after 1914
Editions of Studies in the Scriptures written prior to 1914 were very specific about what would happen prior to and during 1914. These journals continued to be used after 1914. To overcome the obviously erroneous predictions, in 1915 they were reissued with amendments.

For example, prior to 1914, editions of Studies In the Scriptures - Thy Kingdom Come stated on p.228 that the resurrection would occur before 1914. From the 1915 edition onwards, this was changed to state that the resurrection was to occur soon after 1914.

The Watchtower and the 1914 Generation

Since their earliest years, Jehovah’s Witnesses have believed that the end must come within one generation of a supposed invisible return of Christ. According to Watchtower literature today, Jesus is said to have taken his throne as king in the heavens in the year 1914. This is the invisible return. They believe that Matthew 24:34 teaches that the final judgment must occur within a generation of that date. This teaching has proven problematic as 1914 is now over a hundred years past, leading to reinterpretations to try to preserve this failed prediction.

The 1874 Generation
Many Jehovah’s Witnesses are unaware that their founder’s original teaching was that Jesus’ invisible return was in 1874 rather than 1914. The founder of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Charles Taze Russell, taught that Jesus’ return began in 1874 (though he did not fully ascend to the throne until 1878) and that the day of God’s wrath would be complete in 1914 or 1915. He thus explains that the time between the invisible return of Christ and the end of God’s judgment of the world would be well within one generation.1 In spite of the fact that this failed to transpire, Watchtower literature continued to hold to the 1874 return of Christ through the 1920’s. One publication, for example, plainly stated:

“Surely there is not the slightest room for doubt in the mind of a truly consecrated child of God that the Lord Jesus is present and has been since 1874,” (Watchtower Jan 1, 1924 p.5)

Thus for some time, the Jehovah’s Witnesses taught that the end must come before the generation of 1874 passed away.

In spite of all this clarity and alleged certainty, the date of Jesus’ “invisible return” was eventually changed to 1914 (the date of Russell’s original prediction for the final judgment). As to the generation, the Watchtower literature explained:

“Some persons living A.D. 1914 when the series of foretold events began will also be living when the series ends with Armageddon. All the events will come within the span of one generation,” (Watchtower, Sept 1, 1952)

a generation is about 20 to 30 years,
a person's life is average 70 to 80 years < whatever way you take it, so called Jehovah's witnesses are way out yet again, of course

At times it's good to give unbelievers the tough times they never expected even though we are aware of their stiff-neckedness.
The Jews in the first century were expecting a man to be born by a virgin girl among them {Isaiah 7:14} he was to sit on the throne of Kind David as heir to his throne {Isaiah 9:6-7} and his reign will bring everlasting blessings first to the Jews and all the inhabitants of the earth. Isaiah 2:3-4
So by the time Jesus' disciples began preaching zealously and industriously teaching in all the districts of Judea and Jerusalem it was extremely difficult for most Jews to believe that Jesus the son of Mary that was executed just like the other two Judeans who also claimed they are the Christ is now the real Christ. Act 5:35-37
And for the past 2000 years people from other countries after reading books written by Jesus' disciples are claiming that this young man is the Christ despite all the reasons Jews are giving till today disputing that Jesus of Nazareth couldn't have been the Christ since all what they expected of the Messiah was never fulfilled in the first century neither has he started ruling going by the prophecy found written in their scrolls.
Big questions to be asked:
• Why didn't Jesus start to rule just as the scriptures say till today? Act 1:6
• What explanation did his first century Jewish disciples gave critics who were asking them about the fulfillment of the scriptures regarding the Christ?
• Jesus said when he returns to take over the rulership of the world even those who executed him will be present but all his disciples and those who killed him are no more today so are these words to be taken literally or as illustration?
Today a global family of peace loving worshipers has sufficed just as written in the Bible {Isaiah 2:2-4; Micah 4:1-3} these people are claiming that Jesus is responsible for their ability to form one big and happy global family {Act 1:8} because he returned in a hundred years ago and ever since then has been working in their midst to gather obedient mankind under one umbrella. Matthew 28:19-20
But billions of people (including individuals claiming they are also disciples of Christ today) are disputing what this global group is saying. Their reasons is that according to the writings of Jesus' disciples the young man will be seen by everyone when he returns to continue his work yet this group called Jehovah's Witnesses insisted that Jesus has been working in their midst since the year 1914.
Questions to be answered:
• Has it ever been possible for people from different geographical locations on this planet to form an organization of peace loving worshipers before?
• Why is it that out of all the religions claiming Christians with contradicting teachings and conflicting doctrines it's only this group (Jehovah's Witnesses) that are best organized in preaching zealously and industriously teaching in all the earth just as Jesus purposed in the Bible?
• Why is it that all the others claiming Christians are swept along with politics so that they pick up weapons to kill not only unbelievers but their own supposed brothers and sisters in Christ during wars whereas only Jehovah's Witnesses refused to join in such killings?
• When talking about rulership of the earth all other religions claiming they're Christians do participate in electing rulers except Jehovah's Witnesses who are saying Jesus their King is here with them so they're waiting patiently for him to start ruling the earth. Why?

Well nothing like these has happened on this planet ever since the creation of earth but since the year 1914 it began taking shape and all the inheritants of the earth can't deny what the scriptures foretold in the midst of Jehovah's Witnesses the one and only organization claiming that Jesus the Prince of Peace has returned secretly and has been working with them since the year 1914.
