Hello my bosses in the house. My 2005 camry gear got stuck and I've tried everything possible but proven abortive.. There's a certain key slot on the shifter knob.. I mistakenly turned it, after that my gear could not shift from park. I've tried pressing the shift lock button and yet not working. I don't have the key to the slot. Please I need help on what to do. My Rewire was here but he's clueless.

which one be mistakenly? you mistakenly saw the key hole, mistakenly insert an object then mistakenly turned it to mistakenly know what will happen grin you have locked the gear knob, either use the object to turn it back to the position you met it, if not possible, then the gear dash assembly will have to be dismantled to disable the lock mechanism

I just got the car about couple of weeks ago.. My first time using camry(big daddy) I was only messing around and turned that slot using my thumb finger nail.. This was so dumb of me and I can't even explain how it happened.

Thanks a lot sir. I tried using a flat object to turn it back but it didn't work out.

The same key going to your glove box should be able to enter into the knob. Look at the side of the gear, there must be a straight button u can press down with a key, pencil or biro. The knob has locked.

You should have the key for that shift lock, unless it's a stolen car...

You should have the key to unlock your shift lock, unless that car is stolen or, maybe, you dint get complete set of keys..

Maybe I didn't get all the key set...but the car dealer isn't in possession of the knob key either.. I just spoke to him on phone to explain the situation to him, but this is what got me confused. If only a certain or programmed key is enabled to lock and unlock it... Why so easy for me to lock with just my finger nail with just a single twist?

Bro, it's easy to turn and lock with your fingernail but trust me, you can't unlock with fingernail. You need the key to unlock.

That's the problem right now. I don't have the key to it and the dealer doesn't have it either. I left the car about 5 drive to my house that's where it happened. I don't know what to do and I'm really scared something might happen to it.. Please I need help that's why I put it up on here. Maybe there's anyone who has encountered something like this before and if there's anything I can do without the key.

Heeya! Have u tried using the shift release button near the gear? Open it with the same wonderful fingernail of urs, press the button while stepping on the brake pedal then try shifting the gear from park. I haven't seen a Camry with a keyhole on its gear knob before. Try google more abt it.
