Humanity-Driven Administration Of Unilorin NAPSS Celebrates Democracy Day by NationalReports: 11:44am On Jun 12
The Humanity-Driven Administration of National Association of Political Science Students (NAPSS), University of Ilorin Chapter, ably led by its President, Olapade Sadiq Adebayo (BigSadiq), has felicitated the entire Political Science Students of the varsity on the historic commemoration of Democracy Day on June 12, 2024.

The felicitation was contained in a press statement made available to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer of the Union, Abdulrasheed Abdulqadir Olalekan, also known as Lakeside.

According to Lakeside, the Union recognizes the fundamentals of democratic governance in nation-building, as well as the importance of its sustainability for social justice and strong Institutions.

He said "Today, June 12th, 2024, marks another yet significant milestone in Nigeria's political history - Democracy Day. This day symbolizes our nation's transition to democratic rule and the sacrifices made by our heroes past"

"As homopoliticus, we recognize the importance of democratic governance and its impact on our nation's development. We celebrate our democracy's progress and acknowledge the challenges that still need to be addressed"

He called for continued promotion of democratic tenets and active participation in political processes, because according to him, through active participation in politics, democracy will deliver on its mandate.

Similarly, the Department Students' Representatives Council (SRC) has rolled out a statement to mark this year's edition of democracy day.

Honorable Afolayan Abass Olamilekan (Pluto), in a release he signed and co-signed by the Speaker, Rt. Honorable Olokoba Iyiola (Articulate) and also the Clerk of the house, Honorable Obadara Waliyat, encouraged the students of Political Science to embrace the art of critical thinking and be actively involved in the process that seeks to shape the future of the Nigerian state.

"As we commemorate Democracy Day in Nigeria on June 12, we reflect on the journey that led to the establishment of this significant day. It stands as a testament to the resilience and determination of the Nigerian people in their pursuit of democracy and freedom*

"On this occasion, the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the department extends warm wishes to all Homopoliticus. Your dedication to understanding political systems and advocating for democratic principles is commendable"

"We encourage students to continue their pursuit of knowledge, critical thinking, and active participation in shaping the future of our nation. Your passion for political science serves as a beacon of hope for a brighter and more democratic Nigeria"

"Together, let us uphold the values of democracy, unity, and progress as we strive for a better tomorrow. Happy Democracy Day" the statement reads.
