Hung Cao Biography
Hung Cao is a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate representing Virginia. He won the primary on June 18, 2024, and will be on the ballot for the general election on November 5, 2024.

A retired Navy captain, Cao served from 1989 to 2021, with combat experience in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Somalia. In 1975, he and his family arrived in the United States as refugees from Vietnam. Cao secured the Republican nomination with 64.3% of the primary vote.

In the general election, he will challenge two-term Democratic incumbent Jennifer Wexton. Cao’s campaign focuses on preserving America as a land of opportunity and opposing policies that he believes disrupt families and exert excessive control over citizens' lives.
