In a landmark achievement, Nigeria has been selected to host the headquarters of the $5 billion African Energy Bank (AEB), following a highly competitive bidding process. The decision was made after a thorough technical inspection by a team from the African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO) and Afrexim Bank, the joint promoters of the AEB, who validated Nigeria’s readiness and capacity to host this significant continental institution. Under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian government demonstrated its strong commitment to securing the hosting rights by approving a substantial investment of $100 million from four agencies within the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. This investment not only surpassed the minimum equity requirement of $83.33 million for Class A shares but also showcased Nigeria's determination to play a leading role in Africa's energy sector. The hosting rights were officially awarded to Nigeria during an extraordinary meeting of the APPO Council of Ministers.
