President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Officially Kicks Off Student Loan


President Bola Tinubu officially kicks off the student loan today Wednesday, July 17th, marking the formal beginning of the student loan programme’s execution.

In an update on ‘X’ according to the special adviser on social media, Dada Olusegun, the launch of the student loan is currently taking place at the State House, Abuja.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had few weeks ago approved ₦35,000,000,000 for the student loan take-off, targeting seventy thousand initial student loan applicants.


The Governing Board of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), under the leadership of Jim Ovia, approved the disbursement of student loans to successful applicants during its inaugural meeting in Abuja last month.

The student loan, is a flagship programme of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, which aims to offer financial assistance, including tuition fees and stipends, to eligible students across Nigeria.

More than 1,200,000 students are expected to gain from the first phase of the student loan.
