CAPACITY BUILDING: SPU Concludes Training Programme for Newly Mobilized and Old Personnel.

To have a well-positioned and respected Police Force that will respond to the dynamics of the security state in the country and further improve the proficiency of officers entrusted with the security of VIPs, the men of the NPF Special Protection Unit (SPU) from Base 7, Base 20 and Base 29 have successfully undergone and completed a 2 weeks training programme at the SPU Training Centre, Dei-Dei, Abuja.

The programme tagged “Training and Re-training of SPU Personnel” which commenced on the 15th of April 2024 till the 30th of April 2024 had its closing ceremony on the 2nd of May 2024 at the SPU Training Centre, Dei-Dei, Abuja. The ceremony featured several displays from the trainees such as the stripling and assembling of arms, operational stripling and assembling of arms, open-eyes stripling and assembling of arms, one stripling and assembling of arms, blind-fold stripling and assembling of arms and the self-defence and unarmed combat demonstration.

Representing the Inspector-General of Police, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police SPU, AIG Okon.O. Effiong psc(+),fdc expressed his happiness and pride in the trainees, stating his passion for the training and development of officers. He further urged the trained officers to utilise their newly acquired set of skills in the diligent execution of their lawful duties. He enjoined them to be courageous and good ambassadors of the Force, reflecting a dignified image of the Nigeria Police.

The AIG further disclosed an intended training programme for instructors of the training camp to promote and increase their skills and make them more efficient trainers. Speaking to the Commanding Officers of the Bases involved in the training, the AIG implored them to provide the trainees with befitting offices to enable them to properly exhibit all they have learned.
