NEWS AGENCY OF NIGERIA • JULY 24, 2024 Kashim Shettima Vice President Kashim Shettima [Credit :Kashim Shettima] Vice-President Kashim Shettima says Nigeria is not just catching up with the rest of the world but is poised to overtake the global economy. He stated this on Tuesday when he unveiled the AI Expertise Blockchain and Technology Training and Outsourcing Initiative in Dutse, Jigawa. The initiative launched at the Yakubu Gowon NYSC Orientation Camp, Fanisau, a suburb of Dutse, was part of Nigeria’s digital transformation and leadership strategy in Africa. The AI Expertise Blockchain and Technology Training and Outsourcing Initiative, a partnership with tech company Gluwa, aims to train 1,000 Nigerians annually in artificial intelligence, blockchain, and other cutting-edge technologies. Mr Shettima said, “It is important for the nation’s economic future. We are not merely catching up with the rest of the world. We are poised to overtake them. “This initiative offers its beneficiaries the chance to become part of a global workforce, driving innovation that will shape our future.” Mr Shettima noted the Jigawa state’s pioneering role in digital technology adoption. He described the programme as “a homecoming ceremony for those who have eased our journey through the Fourth Industrial Revolution.” Mr While outlining the federal government’s broader vision, Shettima said, “We are adopting this initiative across the nation to create a network of tech hubs that will power Nigeria’s economic growth for decades to come.” He commended the partnership with Gluwa, stating that it aligned with President Tinubu’s agenda to revolutionise Nigeria’s digital technology sphere. Mr Shettima acknowledged Gluwa’s significant impact and applauded the firm for empowering Aella Microfinance Bank. According to him, the empowerment resulted in the disbursement of over N100 billion to two million Nigerians. On the global implications of the initiative, Mr Shettima said, “Our aspiration remains to transform Nigeria into a premier destination for technology outsourcing. Too many clowns in sit of power. You don't become the biggest economy in Africa let alone the biggest in the world when you can't manufacture the most basic things needed for everyday life. -- You came into power and price of goods has skyrocketed beyond control. -- Naira getting serious beating every day on the market. -- You borrow to service your economy. -- The little revenue generated are shared among the elite. -- Corruption in all sectors are at its peak. -- Those who criticized the administration are witch hunted. -- We have gone from having a bad administration to worse. -- The current administration uses propaganda that have never been seen before, from lies to even bigger lies. The sad truth is that Nigeria we never be better if we continue on this path. If you like don't protest for your right, sit back or go to religious centers to pray for change.  Prior to the last election, Agbadorians said; Tinubu will handle the Economy while Shettima will handle security !! Na so we take reach where we dey now wey a dollar na almost N1,600, foodstuffs don cost and fuel is about N1,000/Ltr while Bandits dey cash out steady with ransom money.
