Breaking: Anambra Judiciary Workers Suspend Strike, Resume Work Friday

In a surprise move, the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Anambra State Branch, has suspended its indefinite strike, directing all staff to resume work on Friday, July 26, 2024.

According to a press release signed by Comrades Ezeoke Henry Ifeanyichukwu (Chairman) and Nwezi Ugochokwu (Secretary), the decision follows a meeting between the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo and JUSUN executives on July 24, 2024.

The meeting addressed the Consolidated Judiciary Salary Structure (CONJUS) and the implementation of the new minimum wage in the state.

According to the statement, the governor promised to set up a committee to tackle the CONJUS issue, leading to the suspension of the strike.

The JUSUN Congress, in an emergency meeting on July 24, 2024, at the Judiciary Headquarters, High Court of Justice, Awka, decided to suspend the strike.

All directors, deputy directors, assistant chief registrars, registrars in charge, and staff of the Anambra State Judiciary are directed to report to work on Friday, July 26, 2024.

This development brings relief to the judiciary system in Anambra State, which had been paralyzed by the indefinite strike.

The suspension of the strike is seen as a positive step towards resolving the lingering issues affecting judiciary workers in the state.
