Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has urged the government to cease mobilizing youths to disrupt rallies and instead engage with demonstrators to address their grievances. In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Falana emphasized the need for government officials to listen to protesters who are expressing their frustrations over rising poverty and the high cost of living.

According to VANGUARD News, Falana highlighted the protests occurring across Nigeria, including in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where citizens are demanding improved economic conditions. He criticized the government for quickly seeking court orders to restrict protesters to designated areas within states and the FCT. Notably, the Lagos and Ogun state governments, as well as the FCT Administration, obtained court orders confining protesters to specific locations such as Freedom and Peace Parks in Lagos, the MKO National Stadium in the FCT, and various sites in Ogun State.

The senior lawyer argued that the timing of these court orders, issued just 24 hours before the protests began, likely left insufficient time for proper service to the demonstrators. He pointed out that the protesters' movement beyond the restricted areas could be attributed to this short notice.

Falana is just looking for attention again. Who is he to dictate how youths express their grievances? It's always the same story with him, trying to control the narrative while ignoring the real issues. Mobilizing youths is their right, and he should focus on addressing the root causes instead of stirring up unnecessary drama.

Femi Falana is just looking for attention with this his protest nonsense.

How can he expect our youths to sit down and fold their arms while their future is being toyed with? If anything, they should be mobilized to fight against the real disruptors in power!
