SNAPSHOT: 78% Of Lagosians Earn Below ₦100k Monthly by NaijaphiliaBlog: 11:25pm On Aug 14

78% of people who work in Lagos make less than ₦100,000 or $63 per month.

This is according to the State of the Employed report which was released by PaidHR, a Nigerian startup that helps businesses manage their HR functions.

The company interviewed more than 1,600 employees (half of them aged 19 to 35) and employers in Lagos.

The report also shows that 51.2% of working Lagosians spend more than they earn monthly, and are consequently forced to seek additional income to augment their earnings.

Of all spendings by Lagosians, food is the most significant, with workers shelling out ₦54,000 averagely on food monthly (used to be ₦38,000 in 2023).

Isn't it the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC) that pays out these monies to the senators and representatives? Why not directly demand answers from the particular commission in charge of these remunerations to all federal employees? undecided
