Great News For Car Buyers, Bad News For "some" Auto Dealers by calculusx(m): 9:01am On Mar 06, 2012
Sometime last year I could remember a Shipping line came with a Policy charging additional $150 for Non-Running Cars due to safety issues. For all Cars to be exported to Africa especially Nigeria, the shipping line will start the Cars, leave them to RUN for at least 30mins and during the process they check so many safety measures before the Car can be certify OK to be exported, Cars that were jump-start was also rejected.
One of my Unit fall under this Category simply because of water leakage from the washer fluid which took me $450 {re-trucking back and forth to port cost me $300} to be fixed and the unit could meet up with the Vessel.
Here is the great news for Car buyers and BAD News for "SOME" Car dealers who buy scrap cars to maximize their profit. With this New Policy, buyer's confidence will be higher knowing they are not buying Non-Running Cars, excessive damaged cars, tow-on, and forklift units. Though this Policy is only applied to a AES INC.

To whom it may concern,

Due to an increased volume of damaged, tow-on, and forklift units being delivered for our West Africa service with Mitsui Lines, we regretfully are putting into effect a policy that we can no longer accept this type of cargo. This decision has been based on the safety of the personnel working the vessels and also repeated damage to the ship carrying these types of goods.
Unfortunately, any self-propelled vehicles that fall into this category will automatically be rejected at the time of delivery to the terminal, (MA, NJ, DE, MD, or FL). Vehicles that will be accepted must drive under their own power, have proper steering and braking, and also both doors must be able to open without issue.
We apologize in advance for this decision that has been made; however, we hope that you understand our position that the safety of the operation is our first priority. Thank you for your cooperation during this time of change and your continued support.

**As of March 2, 2012, A.E.S. will no longer be accepting forklift or tow-on vehicles with our Mitsui and Hoegh Autoliners service to West Africa. If you receive a dock receipt and your vehicle falls into this category, it will be rejected at the time of delivery to the port (MA, NJ, DE, MD, & FL)**
