WHEN THE ACCEPTANCE OF GOVERNMENT POLICY IS LACKING

The present Gej administration is fast losing its legitimacy, yet it keeps blaming the failure of his government on some people,Cabal or cliq, but it is the architect of its own predicaments.

The stability of a political system depends on the needs, its structure, belief, leaders and policies that are acceptable to the people. When the acceptance of government's policy is lacking,a declining sense of legitimacy creeps in,the regime relies on the use of force, repression is increased and trouble brews. No amount of complain can save Jonathan's administration from failure, unless he seek the legitimacy of the Nigerian people.

Legitimacy is not by election, government may loose its legitimacy when it adopt anti people's policies. You have to rely on force to maintain rule which is what we are currently seeing in Nigeria which makes life miserable for the government to achieve any tangible thing, and this gives distractors the chance to flourish. The level of legitimacy enjoyed by the government is a barometer of its stability. This government is not stable, and it can not unless the people rules. any government that put the people first can never be unstable and such government can never loss its legitimacy. we say that the pursuit of a value is legitimate if we have reasons to expect that it will not inflict intolerable damage upon any other value which is also vitally important to us. For instance,it is legitimate for Gej to remove fuel subsidy to bring development and job opportunities, but that can only work if the people have any reason to be hopeful of any good to come out of it,if not, they will reject it and any attempt to force the policies turns against the government. It is okay to make money provided that this pursuit does not involve a great moral wrong or a serious loss of respect in our community or impair severely on our health.

Legitimacy refers to the extent to which citizens regard the state, its institutions, personnel or policies as morally right or acceptable. it is the popular acceptance or support giving to the government irrespective of the method of coming into power. it refers to the positive attitude of the citizens toward authority's position and those who occupy them. So long as there is agreement about what is legitimate, politics and government can function smoothly. It means that where legitimacy is lost, agreement breaks down and the consequences may be tyranny, revolution and secession. This government is failing,i will continue to fail,it has lost the legitimacy to rule this nation. To return to the right part,President Jonathan must seek the forgiveness of Nigerians and gain back their support.
