[quote] It was the same Abacha that ensured that Abiola returned. Abacha had to change the guards at the airport, replaced them with his own guards and asked them to fly Abiola in from Cotonou. I was close to Abacha to know all these. Abiola landed and trouble started. Then there was the afternoon coup, Abacha took over from Shonekan. As far as Abacha was concerned, his reign was not to be permanent, he had to remove Shonekan to foil Ibrahim Babangida’s plan to come back. Babangida’s intention was to transform into a civilian president.... http:// www.kemifilani.com/2013/06/ secrets-how-mko-abiola-really-died- his.html [quote] |

jas_o: This storry is nothing but tragedy. The way the man died and conivance of evils in form of human was also shoking in this revelation. Nigeria is dominated by evils and something brutal shouldb done to ensure such did ot repeat itself.Abiola MKO, was a friend to the military (even his personal doctor and friend has confirmed that). IF YOU MUST DINE WITH THE DEVIL, ENSURE YOU DO SO WITH A VERY LONG SPOON. |

AmicableEd: Agreed what happened to Abiolat is one painful life episode I wouldn't wish on my enemy. But why couldn't Abiola just accept the reality that the Military were not so keen on him ruling the country. A wise saying goes like this, "A Live Dog is better than a Dead Lion". |

tawa89: Even the igbo poilitician that signed that document did so with 'reservations'. This could mean he did so under duress, while Shonekan and other Yoruba politicians signed away MKO's mandate gleefully.LMAOApart from Nwodo, the other guy(Odunze) is virtually unknown then not to talk of now. 1 Like |

Madam-Oringo said that Igbos hate MKO ABIOLA. Abegi how many NOTABLE Igbo politicians past and present signed the document? How many NOTABLE Yoruba Politicians past and present signed the document? How many NOTABLE Hausa politicians past and present signed the document? How many NOTABLE South-South politicians past and present signed the document? How many NOTABLE Middle-Belt politicians past and present signed the document? When you argue do so with an objective mind and not with Pre-biased mind. 28 Likes 1 Share |

Ola Johnson:The answer is a resounding YES, HE WON THE ELECTION (though he wasn't announced as the winner, but we all know that he was coasting to victory.) But WAS THE ELECTION ANNULED? WAS HE ABLE TO CLAIM HIS MANDATE? (after truncating other peoples hope) DID HE DIE WHILE REFUSING TO ACCEPT REALITY? (of course he must have known how brutal his 'Military' friends were.) My dear Ola Johnson, IT PAYS TO ALWAYS BE FAIR TO ALL INVOLVED. Abiola sowed the seed and he reaped the fruit. As sad as it may seem, it is the REALITY. |

"Now NPN went for their national convention in Kano and Umaru Dikko, he is alive, he said the presidential candidate of the NPN is not for sale. MKO Abiola wanted the presidential ticket he didn’t get it and he then came and aligned with the military people who now came in. And IBB came and set up two political parties, Shehu Yar‘adua, Adamu Ciroma and other major contenders in SDP and NRC, overnight the military disqualified all of them, aided and abetted by MKO Abiola. Because if Yar‘adua were (involved) there was no way MKO would have won. He was not even in contention until the disqualification of these major contenders. That is why I said that June 12 was a repayment for evil that was done against other people." Someone urged Nairalanders to go and study history about June 12 and the man Abiola MKO. Sen. Owei is doing NL and Nigerians a favour by bringing up a historical debate about the Aare Ona Kankafo of Yorubaland to the fore. Let the debate begin.......Please no tribal insult, debate logically. |

Desola:Madam Desola what is the Irony there? UNILAG the last time I checked is a Federal University. I was able to overcome the Quota system and still made it to UNILAG (one of the best actually in Nigeria). In UNILAG we were taught to reason and argue without sentiments and emotions. If you follow my posts here on NL you will agree that I hardly engage in sentimental debates. Be it for or against my people or any other people for that matter. Please you all should quit with the sentiments and view this thread from an Objective angle. 1 Like |

Bandit C.: the Irony in this thread is that OBJ deems it fit to declare May 29 as Democracy day, knowing fully well that his Yoruba brothers want June 12. Last year, GEJ tried to "fraudulently" rename UNILAG to MAULAG and again Yorubas were up in arms with other Nigerians. Why then is the "Oracle of Yorubaland" disturbing our peace now with the REAL or FAKE democracy day? What is Wole Soyinka trying to do? 1 Like |

Is Prof Nwosu not an Igbo man? If Igbos hated MKO that much will they have voted massively for him? If Igbos were hell bent on scuttling the election 'victory' of MKO, why then did Prof Nwosu not use his office to scuttle the process? THINK AND THINK AGAIN...... 3 Likes |
