Any body relocating from another state like me Now is the time to start looking for a place, I will be needing serious help with that cause I don't know anyone in Lagos. Please which areas will be best for me and how do I go about it

I'd say Surulere or Yaba, although they are not on the Island. It's sorta central and getting to the office from there shouldn't be too complicated . Does anyone have another suggestion?

Chartered accountants to be,

What is the difference between impairment, depreciation, and amortisation?

And when a financial asset is categorized as Available for sale financial asset(AFS asset) , how is profit from revalution treated when the asset is disposed?

15 marks

Err let me try

Depreciation simply put is a cost recovery model (tangible assets)

Impairment is the reduction in the recovery amount of an asset as against its book value

Amortisation is also a cost recovery model i.e allocating the cost of an asset over its useful life (intangible asset )

Changes in the value of AFS are initially recognised through equity then on derecognition , the profit is recognised through Profit and Loss

Hello guys.. Am a 200lvl acct student .. I want to stat Ican wen I graduate from skul.. Pls wat level of d exam will I stat from?
Thanks in advance!

As a graduate of accounting from an accredited institution, you would start from Skills. However , the decision to start from ATS would depend entirely on you. If you are sure you would be able to start and finish ATS before you graduate then you can but if you won't then you might as well wait till you graduate. An important thing to note is that a new ICAN syllabus would most likely be introduced in 2019.

Sorry guy.. understanding is different from proper understanding...yeah, I'm very aware of the 10yr rule were both right ,but that 5 years rule ,you're very wrong ...you should read it again

Take and read and look at what I said and tell me what's wrong in what I said

Career / Re: ICAN May 2017 Results (let's Meet Here) by AbbyE: 8:37pm On Jul 09, 2017
ExcelIBK:

Per level ,not in total ...So once you've commenced a level you have 5 years to finish that level , if not you'll start all over again...that's the new rule...
So looking at the 12 years lady in skills... it's possible , maybe she has exemptions and commenced from skills... so if she failed for 10years, whatever paper she has passed will be nullified based on the old 10year rule and she'll have to start again re-writing the four... but now based on the five year rule per level, she'll be in big shit if she doesn't scale through skills after 5yrs,cos she'll forfeit and have to start again

No ma...the old rule said you must complete 'all parts' in 10 years....the new rule says you must complete professional in 5 years and the new rule was only effective from may diet. Both rules are on the website incase you didn't understand them well the first time .The only way she has been writing for 12 years is if after 10 years they cleared all her credits and she had to start again but her dear friend said they waived the law just for her because her sister is an FCA

note:- I did not disagree with what you said about the 10 year policy, btw, that policy is not in use anymore, do me a favor, call anyone, any tutor, or ican lecturers an ask if it's possible when that 10yr policy was in place for someone to write ican for more that 10yrs . This lady I'm taking about has an elder sister who is a FCA and a Council member. Once again, this is Nigeria, we don't really live by the rules.

The policy is still in use , it is just shorter now .it is 5 years now . Her sister is a council member, we don't follow rules in Nigeria but she's writing one course for 12 years .lol okay sir enjoy your story .

you don't need to believe me oga, yes, you are right about that '5yrs for final' but for skills level you can write it as long as you want. This is Nigeria, even ICAN's integrity can be bought, Anything goes if you know your way, it's not every policy they have they comply with.

Here you go...Page 12 of the syllabus , stop confusing yourself

not in skills level.

Even in skills , as long as you are writing professional exams and not ATS. Now it's 5 years sef

Even me I belong to this category, is there any advice from experienced people? or What are the expectations from newly qualified ACAs

There's really no expectation from you , if you are hired as a trainee in an accounting firm then they'd train you from scratch. To some organisations they'd rather hire you because you won't have to take time off work to write ICAN as you are already chartered and they won't have to refund your exam money unlike people that chartered while in the firm

very funny this is a wrong analogy, don't think this way bro, ican does t give a damn about repeaters, I know someone in skills level who has been battling with some papers for 12 years now, to this date she's still there.

You do know that after 10 years ,you lose all your credits and start all over?

From my experience with ICAN, they mostly release their results on Thursdays.

So whenever I am expecting result, I look forward to Thursdays.

But which Thursday, we never know...

Timing is no longer important now, it is about passing my papers.

May 2016 diet exam was released on Monday June 26th 2016 so your Thursday assertion might be wrong

Hmmm.. Isorite, let dem continue.

But come to think of it, this thread is for Graduate Trainees. I think they also advertised for experienced positions too. So may be those that received are for experienced position. Just Saying though.

All the same. Wehdon Deloitte

You know there was a separate link for Graduate Trainee Chartered and Graduate Trainee Non-Chartered. So they will get to the non-chartered shortly i think.

Hello everyone. Please how do I get to the address from Iyana Ipaja. Thanks
18, Akanbi Danmola street, off Ribadu road, Ikoyi Lagos

Take a bus going to CMS or Obalende ,

If it's easier for you to get to CMS, from CMS enter a bus going to Falomo but stop at Mobil Filing Station. The Road by Mobil is Ribadu, take second turn on your right and look for no 18, there is no sign that signifies that it is Abax but it's a grey gate.

If you are going from Obalende, take a keke going to Ribadu and tell him where you are going

The mail acknowledging the receipt of application and the one that was sent for the online assessment was from enterprise@trm.brassring.com not recruitment@shell.com (This is just the name given to the mail). The one sent for the video was sent by interviews@hirevue.com (Shell Graduate Recruitment is the name). I want to agree there is a recruitment ongoing because it is on their official website, but the mails thou. Let us keep our fingers crossed.
