[Excerpt from Episode 16: He wasn’t just a cheat anymore, he was now a murderer. He knew it was going to be only a matter of time before the police would find him even if he ran and he was too weak to run. He couldn’t face the world, he couldn’t face the condemnation and with that he got out of the car and headed back towards the house. There was only one thing for him to do and he was going to do it.] To read episode 16: visit www.akinwrites..com

He walked into the room and looked around him; everything was still the same way it was when he had dashed out in a hurry. His eyes went to Damilola’s lifeless body lying on the floor and for a second he cast his eyes down as the tears threatened to spill. He swallowed involuntary as he moved towards it and turned her over. The body was beginning to grow cold and he pressed his face into her still heart as he wished he had not come over. He allowed the tears flow then as he cried into her and wished that she would stir in his arms and smile at him in that her special way and tell him she had been teasing him but he knew she was gone.

After he had allowed himself cry, he stood up and hefted the body onto his shoulder like a labourer would carry a bag of cement and carried her to his car. He opened the door to the passenger’s seat and propped her against the chair. The body flopped forward lifelessly and he had to quickly strap the seat belt to it to keep it in place. He closed her unseeing eyes to give her the look of one fast asleep before getting into the driver’s seat and driving out of the compound.

His heart beat heavily and rapidly in his chest as he drove towards the Third Mainland Bridge and even as he drove, he sneaked peeks at her as if he expected her to burst into laughter or say something. As he climbed the bridge from Adekunle bus-stop, he increased the car speed and said a silent prayer of thanks to the heavens for it being night. The probability of getting rescued was slim and that was just the way he wanted it. As he sped at top speed, John Legend’s “All of Me” filled the interior of the car and he wished he had given his all to just one person. He wouldn’t have been in this mess then. As he sped towards the water, he closed his eyes and took his hands of the steering wheel. It happened in a split second; the car hit concrete and was sent flying into the air as it flipped over. He heard the splintering of glass and crunching metal and for a split second he opened his eyes and looked at the other passenger in the car before he heard the thud of the car hitting the water and then there was darkness.
**********†**************************************
Anu looked about her with unseeing eyes as she sat in her best friend’s room trying to clear out the room. It was a month since the death of Muyiwa and Damilola but Anu was still grieving. She had lost consciousness when she had first been told the news of the accident and when she came to again, she had wept inconsolably refusing to touch food or water and had had to be sedated.

The task of clearing out Damilola’s apartment had fallen to her and as she sat in the once happy room, she wallowed in her grief again and wept bitterly. Halima had left the country about two weeks after and had not even bothered to attend the funerals. Anu wiped her eyes as she stood up and tried to get herself together but the pain was too raw and she collapsed back on the bed and screamed like one in agony. Her husband Tunji rushed into the room and her scooped her into his arms like a baby as he consoled her

“Hush baby, hush. It’s going to be alright, I told you already, you don’t have to do this just yet. Damilola won’t want you so torn apart like this. We all miss her hunnay, we all do.” Anu’s tears became louder as she sobbed

“I should have done something Tunji, I should have done something earlier to save her. She was on self destruct and I let her. It’s all my fault, I can’t believe I watched her die. I want her back Tunji, I want her back, please just let her come back.”

Tunji’s heart broke to see his wife blame herself for something that was clearly beyond her helping. He grated his teeth together in anger at Muyiwa, only if that son of a bitch was not dead already, I would have strangled the life out of him myself he thought to himself. He carried his wife out of the room and closed the door behind him and as he turned the key in the lock, he vowed that was the last time they were ever coming back there.

[Excerpt from Episode 15: Get out now! I don’t want to see you Muyiwa, get the hell out of my house.” She screamed and Muyiwa tried to protest but Anu pleaded with her eyes for him to leave. Taking an exasperated breath, Muyiwa walked out of house. His world was crumbling around him and it was all because of ONE person, Damilola.] To read episode 15 visit www.akinwrites..com

His heart was beating fast in his chest as he ran out of the house. What have I done? He thought to himself as he yanked the door of his car open and got in hurriedly. He turned the key in the ignition and sat down there for a moment as what had just happened played in his mind. He had left Halima’s house with rage and hate in his blood. He hated Damilola for all that she represented.
So she had sent her best friend to do the dirty job for her, he thought wryly to himself. She was just a manipulative, self centered bitch that cared for nothing but herself. That much was apparent now and he was going to end that this night. I regret letting myself GET into such a mess as this he thought with a bitter shake of his head as his hands gripped the steering wheel tightly till his knuckles ached.

Like a mad man intoxicated on some cheap gutter alcohol, he had driven back to her house with nothing but red in front of him. He knew his driving must have been like that of a man being chased by the hounds of hell. How he managed to drive without getting involved in an accident was beyond him but he had somehow managed to get there. He pounded her door with the craze of a man ready to pull it off its hinges if no ONE answered the door. Her voice came from the other side with obvious annoyance in it.

“Who wants to break my door, can’t people learn manners?”

“Open this damn door Damilola,” he bellowed as he rapped on the door even more fiercely. Damilola frowned as she recognized Muyiwa’s voice and with a puzzled expression on her face, she unlatched the door and fell backwards as he rushed into the room and seized her.

“You insufferable spoilt bitch!” Muyiwa said between clenched teeth as he grabbed Damilola and shook her like a leaf. Her eyes widened in surprise and then fear as she saw the dark emotions playing on his face and she tried to free herself from his grasp.

“What is going on Muyiwa? Let go of me, you are hurting me.” He laughed in a derisive manner before he smacked her hard across the face. Her cheek smarted from the slap and her eyes rolled in their sockets in shocked disbelief and she quickly closed her eyes as his palm descended yet again. Following the second slap, he flung her away from him like she had no weight than that of a paper and she landed on the ground with a thud.

“This is what is going on you common slut, you are going to stay the hell out of my life. I don’t want to have anything to do with you or YOUR circle anymore. Your messenger has delivered your message to Halima and I hope you are happy now, she won’t have me anymore.” Damilola rubbed her hurting cheek as she looked at him with a dazed expression on her face.

“What have come over you Muyiwa, what messenger are you talking about? Has the devil possessed you?” He laughed mirthlessly as he looked at her curled up on the ground. For a minute he felt his heart soften but he quickly reminded himself of the evil she was capable of and his heart hardened again.

“Don’t act like you don’t know what this is about. Or you would tell me that you were not the ONE that sent Anu to Halima. Well I am happy that Halima knows now. I am going to spend my last drop of blood to make sure she forgives me but look at you; you have lost a good friend in me. Now that I am HERE, what does it do for you? I can’t even bear to look at you because when I see you, all I see is a disgusting being.” Damilola began to cry softly and then she had said

“I only wanted YOUR love Muyiwa but if you say it’s over then I might as well accept my loss. I swear to you that I didn’t send Anu to Halima, I only have the sex tape that I threatened you with earlier, I had no idea of Anu’s intentions.” She looked at him with tears brimming in her eyes as she stood up from the ground where he had thrown her and continued “I would get you the remaining copies of the tapes now so you can destroy them. Consider them my goodbye gift to you.” With that she walked into her bedroom and emerged about five minutes later with a small blue bag. There was a jut to her chin and a determination in her eyes like that of a person who knew they were defeated but wanted to retain as much of their dignity as they could.

That was when it happened, she had handed him the bag and just as she handed him the bag, he had seen the glint of a knife as her arm flew into the air and the knife came crashing down aimed for his chest. He had deflected the blow with his hand and his body cried out in pain as the knife slashed him. He lunged at her and they had both stumbled backwards as they wrestled for the knife. He had managed to pry it out of her grasp and then kicked her backwards as she fought like a deranged beast of the field. The kick had been the fatal blow, she reeled back and hit her head against the wall. The sickening thud of skull on concrete wall would forever ring his ears as he watched in horror as she slumped to the ground. He rushed to her but there was nothing even he as a medical doctor could do to SAVE her, she was gone.

That was when he had run out of the house in fear and sitting in the car now, he cried as he realized how he had ruined his own life. He wasn’t just a cheat anymore, he was now a murderer. He knew it was going to be only a matter of time before the police would find him even if he ran and he was too weak to run. He couldn’t face the world, he couldn’t face the condemnation and with that he got out of the car and headed back towards the house. There was only one thing for him to do and he was going to do it.

Burn, burn, I am burning
Quick! Douse me with fire
Pin prick sensation crawls over my charred skin
Claps of thunderous pain seeking to be released from my brain
I did try save myself
But the physician's prescription mocks my pain
Pop all at once? The only way these pills can bring relief
The lifesaver he had said; under it I could sink under
Oblivion is bliss, takes me down to rise no more
Would you sing me an elegy when am gone?
A nice epitaph maybe on this strange man's tombstone
Heaven knows that I tried
I simply could not wait for the saviour's return

Literature / Episode 15: Now That You Are Here: A Tale Of Deception And Betrayal by Abisoyee(m): 9:37am On Apr 20, 2015
http://akinwrites..com/2015/04/episode-15-now-that-you-are-here-tale.html

[Excerpt From Episode 14: He protested in a weak tone and she shut him up with a kiss as she placed his hand on her breast and squeezed lightly. He kissed her back then and she pulled him up as she led him into the bedroom like a lamb being led to the slaughter. Mission accomplished she thought as she smiled to herself and closed the bedroom door after them.]

Muyiwa’s was at home with Halima about three days after his meeting with Damilola. Halima was over at his place and they were both watching the 7pm news when a knock sounded on the door and Halima went to get it. Muyiwa smiled to himself as he wondered how he had been so lucky to have such a wonderful woman. He smiled to himself and said a silent prayer of thanks to the Heavens for having helped him control the situation with Damilola.

After the sex and the heat of unadulterated passion had blown over, he had tried to talk to her in the most reasonable tone he could muster given her all the reasons why they had to end the affair. Surprisingly, she had been calm and said his decision was fine by her. She had had a dreamy smile on her face for the remaining part of his visit and she had hugged him very tightly as he got to his car on his way out. She had even promised to attend the wedding and gave him her full blessing.

“This came for you Muyiwa,” Halima’s voice threw him out of his reverie as she handed him a wrapped package. His frown showed his confusion as he collected it from her.

“I wonder who it could be from, I wasn’t expecting any delivery.” Halima shrugged as she told him she wanted to go into the kitchen to start preparations for dinner. “Holla at me if you need me.” She said with a sultry drawl and he grabbed her butt as she made to leave with a naughty grin on his face.

After Halima was out of sight, he tore open the package and a compact disc fell on his laps. He picked it up with a puzzled frown and went into his room to get his laptop. His blood ran cold in his veins as he saw the very much familiar room of Damilola come on the screen and a few seconds later he and Damilola appeared on the screen. He watched in horror as their last encounter played on the screen and for a moment his heart stopped beating. He quickly shut the laptop for fear of Halima walking into the room and with shaky hands he dialed Damilola’s number.

“Have you gone nuts Damilola? What is the meaning of this nonsense, why are you out to ruin my life? You have to stop this madness Dammy.” Muyiwa paced the room angrily and hit his fist into his palm to curtail his frustration as he ranted. His first thought had been that someone was trying to blackmail or expose his affair with Dammy but he had received a further shock when she had calmly told him the video was from her and she planned on giving a copy to Halima if he threatened to end their affair again.

He had been jumpy all through the evening after speaking to her on phone and Halima had noticed the change. She had asked in her usual concerned tone what was wrong but he had told her that he quickly lied that a patient of his had died and it was affecting him badly. Now the following day, staring into the beautiful face of the source of his worry, he felt like wringing her neck and ending it all. He wondered how she could be so cold and change into this kind of monster; this wasn’t the Damilola he knew. She just sat there with a nonchalant expression on her face and watched him. Muyiwa cursed himself for the umpteenth time for having gotten himself into all of this.

“What exactly do you want Damilola? I can’t marry you for sure, I love Halima and she is going to be the mother of my child. This new you is just so strange, how can you be so filled with hate as to go to this extent?” Damilola scoffed and stared him with disdain in her eyes as she stood up and went over to the drink cabinet.
“Who said anything about marriage? Don’t flatter yourself Muyiwa, I wouldn’t marry you even if you were offered on a platter of gold…” Muyiwa interrupted angrily

“Then what the hell is all this about. We had a freaking good time, let it go dammit!” Damilola’s eyes narrowed into slits as she answered,

“What I want is very simple, despite your marriage to that stupid Miss Perfect; we are going to continue us. This is not over until I say it is, you can’t just waltz into my life like some prince charming come to rescue the damsel and then plunge a dagger into my heart, that is a cruel betrayal.” Her right hand went to her chest to create an effect as she sipped the drink she had poured herself.

“You knew there was no future in this for us Damilola. I didn’t mean to get involved with you but it happened. We are both grown adults to be able to move on.”

“The heart wants what it wants my dear, and this girl’s heart is set on you.” She was close to him now and she tried to lay her head on his chest but he pushed her back and stared at her with venom in his eyes.

“You can’t ruin me Damilola, this madness is going to stop. I am going to tell Halima all of this myself.”

“I am sorry Halima, I just couldn’t hold it back anymore, I tried to tell you the other day at the restaurant, that was why I asked to see you that day.” Anu said as she tried to console a weeping Halima. Her tears were coming down hard and her distraught cry was making Anu question the logic of her action. She had not been able to hold it back anymore and she had finally spilled the beans.

“You should have told me sooner Anu, I understand you were trying to keep the confidence of your friend but what about me? What about what they were doing to me?...” she trailed off as she started crying again and Anu hugged her close as she tried to console her.

“What is going on here?” Muyiwa asked as he entered the room and took in the scene. Halima raised her head up at the sound of his voice and she flew at him in rage

“How could you Muyiwa?” she demanded as she slapped him hard on the face and pushed him violently. Muyiwa didn’t need to be told what she was talking about. He deflected her next blow and pulled her to him.

“I can explain Halima, just listen to me, please.” She struggled to get out of his grasp and finally MANAGED to free herself.

“Get out now! I don’t want to see you Muyiwa, get the hell out of my house.” She screamed and Muyiwa tried to protest but Anu pleaded with her eyes for him to leave. Taking an exasperated breath, Muyiwa walked out of house. His world was crumbling around him and it was all because of one person, Damilola. Collaboration basically means two or more things coming together to agree and achieve a set goal. This particular branch of a tree, come together to form a twin drum. So. That's my interpretation of the term "collaboration"

We can't be them

They can't be me

We can't be us

We can't be free.

The laws we make

The rules we laid

Have us in grips

In debts of sins, remain unpaid

Who knows us

Like us

Us with faults, us with flaws

All of us with rise and falls

Some of us, men with pride

Some of us, girls with balls.

Who we are, who we hide

Is who we think

We are not

Who we are not

Is who we become.

Fear. Oh fear

Is a friend, in a foe

She is there

When we care

She is there, still and tall

When we don't give a eff.

Fear oh fear, fear the law

Fear to rise, fear to fall

Fear perfect.

Don't fear flaws.

Literature / My Life As A Fifty Naira Note - Part Two by Abisoyee(m): 2:43pm On Apr 13, 2015
http://akinwrites..com/2015/04/my-life-as-fifty-naira-note-part-two.html?m=1

[Excerpt from Part 1: After he was done, he picked me up gingerly as if I had some contagious disease and went to dress up. Off we went looking for a beggar to bequeath me to and I cried silently at the slime I felt was crawling over my body.]

At last he found his victim, a blind beggar sitting on a side of the street begging for alms. He dumped me brought me out and brought me close to his mouth as he whispered some few more of diabolical gibberish to me before dumping me into the beggar’s bowl. I stared daggers at his retreating figure and if looks could kill, he surely would have dropped dead that instant.

He however left unscathed leaving me with my ego badly bruised. I looked at my new abode and studied my new companions; a tattered ten naira note that looked like it had seen better days, a five naira note with oil stains all over it that you could barely make out the note again and three ancient coins that didn’t look like they had much value. Sighing in resignation, I tried to block out the song of the blind beggar that was my new owner as he droned on and on in his appeal for alms. I was beginning to doze off when I felt another note land on me and I cried out in mortification. “Watch it stupid!” It was a twenty naira note and half of its body lay across me in the tiny bowl that the beggar was using for his alms collection. It was bad enough that I had to share the space with the filthy five naira note, the old ten naira and the useless coins but at least then I had my own space.

“Look, what we have here, if it isn’t the clan of polymers. My apologies for resting on you your highness but sadly as I cannot move myself, you would have to endure my burden.” The twenty naira note’s mocking tone infuriated me further and I hissed to show my displeasure as I held my tongue. Unlike me the twenty naira note soon started a conversation with the other monies and soon had them cheered as they traded gossip of where they had been and what they had been through with their different owners. I longed to join in the conversation but held myself, after all I had more value than all of them put together and they should have had the grace to treat me with more respect.

The day wore on and we all lay there in the sun, listening to the beggar’s pitiful cry. Alas he broke off his cry for help as he heard the sound of a food vendor advertising food. He called out to the vendor and asked her if he had enough money in his bowl for her to sell him fifty naira worth of rice. She told him yes and sold out the food before plucking me out of the bowl. I smiled gleefully and said a quick prayer of thanks to the heavens for getting me out of a society that was beneath my class. My new owner, the food vendor looked at me in wonderment as she turned me here and there inspecting every part as if to confirm I was real. She smiled like a woman who had just seen her lover and I soaked in the attention happily. Now this is how to treat royalty like me. “I no go use this one for chaangi” I heard her say to herself in pidgin English and folding me gingerly, she tucked me into her bra. The foul smell of sweating skin mixed with soaked fabric assailed my nostril and I screamed silently in protest. This was like jumping from frying pan to fire. In the beggar’s bowl I at least had fresh air but being crushed between this food vendor’s breasts with her mammary glands pressing on me heavily I wished for the weight of the twenty naira note on me once again. I would happily suffer their company and bear the twenty naira note’s weight on me than this crushing weight that felt like a trailer was over me not to mention the nauseating smell.

Taking it as an opportunity to fulfil her fantasy of making out with the 28 year old rapper, Madonna 56 pulled his head up and gave him a deep kiss.

Drake however doesn't seem to be into older women as he had a horrified look on his face and even went as far as wiping his mouth.

Literature / My Life As A Fifty Naira Note Part One by Abisoyee(m): 8:48am On Apr 09, 2015
http://akinwrites..com/2015/04/my-life-as-fifty-naira-note-part-one.html

I lay there in the dark corner of the room, under the bed that creaked loudly every time any human weight rested upon it. The darkness shrouded my dirty, torn, worn and battered body. It was with indifference I watched as the rat seeking food nibbled at a tip of my body trying to figure if I was edible enough to serve as a meal. After satisfying its curiosity that I wasn’t delicious enough a cuisine, it scampered over me at the sound of the door opening, its little rat paws leaving a tear in my already battered body.

The opened door welcomed light into the room and some of the light found its way to my dingy corner under the bed. The shrill voice of Bimbo came from above as I heard her plop on the bed with the poor bed creaking in protest in its usual fashion.

“I am yet to find my money, you have to give it back Funbi.” The room was suddenly dark again as Funbi, her brother stood by the entrance of the room, his body blocking the source of light into the room. His shadow fell across me and I heard him reply “I have told you, I didn’t take YOUR stupid fifty NAIRA note. Who would accept that dirty money from you anyway?”

Shame welled up in me as I heard this description of me by Funbi. The rascal I thought to myself. Indignation rose in me and I felt like screaming from my position under the bed that I wasn’t stupid or dirty but I knew that would be useless. I had not always been dirty as he called me; after all I came out of the mint house clean, fresh and sparkling. The envy of all eyes, after all I am one of the first fifty naira notes made out of polymer. Oh the beauty I possessed then as the old fifty naira notes stared in blatant envy as the minters handled us with utmost care and packed us up for distribution but sadly that glory was short lived. My being new and rarity that had been the reason for the other notes to be envious soon became my curse.

My woes STARTED the moment we left the safe haven of the Central Bank of Nigeria and got into the mainstream spending market. I was at first sad to be separated from other fifty naira notes of my kind but then it seemed fate already had me singled out for doom. At my bank of destination, a man came to withdraw money and asked if he could get a single piece of the fifty naira, the cashier with her polite smile obliged his request and if I had known what was to come, perhaps I wouldn’t have been so happy to have been picked. I most likely would have attacked her and cut her with my crisp, sharp edge just to see that silly smile wiped off her face. Oh, the curse of ignorance. He didn’t put me among the other notes, but I went straight into his wallet and as he closed the snap of the wallet over me, my journey of doom began.

When the wallet was finally opened again, I breathe in the fresh air that hit me and I sighed in pleasure. You should therefore imagine my horror when I got plucked out of the wallet unceremoniously and to my chagrin my new owner immersed me in a bucket of black water that had some foul smell to it. If money could be drowned, I believe that would have been the death of me. As I lay supine in the water, chant like sounds came to me from above and I could barely make out such words like “Let this new money bring new things to my life. Let it take away all the pain, suffering, poverty and failure in my life. All the bad things in my life I deposit on this money.” I gasped for air as I was brought out of the smelling water and he began to rub me all over his body from head to toe. The prayers continued and then I got dumped in a corner of the bathroom as he quickly took his bath. After he was done, he picked me up gingerly as if I had some contagious disease and went to dress up. Off we went looking for a beggar to bequeath me to and I cried silently at the slime I felt was crawling over my body.

Literature / Episode 13: Now That You Are Here: A Tale Of Deception And Betrayal by Abisoyee(m): 9:38am On Apr 06, 2015
http://akinwrites..com/2015/04/episode-13-now-that-you-are-here-tale.html#more

[Excerpt from Episode 12: He stared at her with a rueful smile on his face before he said “I am getting married Dammy.” Her heart stopped in her chest and she suddenly felt hurt, the pearls suddenly felt like they were burning her skin and she took another look at his face. He was serious, there was no doubt to that and with a gasp she turned and fled the room.]

Muyiwa caught her by the arm just as she was about to grab the door and jerked her back. She fell into him and he staggered a bit. His hold loosened and she tried to make another run for it but he was quicker than her and had her by the arm again. He turned her around to face him and she pounded at his chest angrily.

“Let me go damn it!” she said, pummeling his chest with her hands as the tears flowed from her eyes.

“Just calm down and listen to me Damilola. I didn’t mean to hurt you with the news like that but I have no choice. Halima is pregnant.” Damilola raised her tear streaked face up to him as she heard the news of Halima’s pregnancy.

“Let go of me Muyiwa, please.” She whispered in a hoarse whisper. He looked like he was going to protest but then a resigned look came over his face and he released her reluctantly.

She dropped to the floor listlessly and wiped away her tears as she tried to steady herself.
“When is the wedding? I should have seen today coming,” she smiled ruefully and continued
“It’s not like there was a future for us anyway. What was I really thinking? That you were going to leave Halima to be with me? Lord bless that sweet angel’s soul, I don’t think even I could have done that to her. Isn’t it funny that I complained bitterly and felt like my whole was crashing around me just because another bitch had my man and now here I am crying over another woman’s man…” her voice trailed off.

Muyiwa dropped to the floor with and drew her close to him, seeing that she offered no resistance; he took her head in his laps and stroked her hair gently. She needed to get everything out of her system so he let her talk. They sat down like that for about two hours before he noticed her words starting to falter and she soon lost the battle and drifted off into sleep. He carried her into her bedroom and laid her gently on the bed as he brushed his lips gently over her before heading out of the house.

Damilola woke up slowly the next morning to find herself in bed fully clothed. She remained that way for about ten minutes trying to get her thoughts together as the events of last night flooded her memory. She felt weak and empty as she finally dragged herself out of bed to begin to prepare for the day. I have to move on with my life and try not to think of Muyiwa she thought to herself. Having been through the heartbreak with Gbade, this should be small compared to what have gone through already. She quickly got herself ready and headed for Anu’s house. She knew Anu was going to probably give her the “I told you this was bad for you” attitude but she didn’t care. Anu was the only person she could talk to and perhaps Anu’s chiding would help her make better decisions next time.

“He is what?” Anu’s face clearly expressed her incredulity and her voice sounded very shocked. “Men are such pigs, so after deciding that he is done with you, he is deciding to wife Halima. Just look at yourself Damilola, a beautiful thing like you settled for side chick position when a lot of men out there would be glad to have you. Now he is dumping you for his wife material.” Anu hissed disgustedly and stopped her agitated pacing to plop into a chair angrily.

“Muyiwa is not like that,” her voice was weak as she tried to defend Muyiwa “Halima is pregnant hence the reason why they have to get married. Muyiwa loves me…”

“Loves you?” Anu cut in angrily as she jumped to her feet again. “Love my foot darling. That guy is just some sick bastard playing games with you while enjoying some free pussy by the side. He doesn’t love either of you, not you or Halima!. I don’t believe in all this complicated love triangle babes. Wake up and see him for what he really is, another player that likes to eat his cake and have it. Halima is such a sweet girl she shouldn’t be marrying that animal.”

“But Anu, you barely even spend time with Muyiwa. He is sweet and caring and really he just can’t help himself.”

“Just listen to yourself, ’he is sweet and caring and really just can’t help himself’.” Anu mimicked in a mocking tone. “How long are you going to keep playing the broken hearted girl? Where the hell is the Dammy I know? That no nonsense girl, what potion has he given you to make you so soft? When did you grow into this lovey mushy, sentimental idiot?”

“There is no potion Anu.”

“This madness has gone on for too long, I would be a very bad friend if I let this nonsense go on. It is time I do something about it. I have watched you make a fool of yourself just because I felt you knew what you were doing but it’s apparent you don’t. Halima and I need to have a talk. She must not marry that pig, pregnancy or no pregnancy.”

“Don’t do anything stupid Anu. Let it be!”

“Let’s see you try and stop me Damilola. I am doing this not just for you but for the good of all involved.”

Literature / A Letter To You My Crush by Abisoyee(m): 1:59pm On Mar 07, 2015
http://akinwrites..com/2015/02/valentine-special-letter-to-you-my-crush.html

I'm looking for her.
Is that her in the BRT -line?
With the bangles and high heels
Used to trek to gate now she take cabs
I don't want her 'cause she may post me
But I heard she just broke up
Her old guy, dulled up He drank too many seven-up
What type of drink you want girl?
I'm VODKA forever

I'm JACKIE DAN forever
You can come sit with me
If you'd like to change the weather
If you wanna live better
We can buy a BQ, wherever
Don't get too thirsty, get used to this cheddar
I'm going to tell the world about you just so they can get jealous
But, if you see her before I do tell her I wish that I've met her.

I'm looking for her too
I heard she'd keep her promises and never turn on you
I heard she won't cheat nor even make a move
I heard she be there anytime you need her, she come through
If you see her,
Send her my way
Tell her I've been looking for her in the broad day
Hanging with my dope goons in the hallways
And I know how to keep her, Oh!, maybe with just some iced-cakes
I'm looking for her too
I heard she got a pretty face and stand up like a stallion
I heard that she's a precious jewel, you treat her way better than medallions
I want to be the one to find out if I go to prowling
And if I get the number, you know I can't wait to dial it
And if we get together, girl, you know we'd always be chilly
And when we get together we make magic and it's ours
Whenever you up here there's nothing anybody can do about it- because
You think You're used but it's not true
You're a good girl
You've just been mislead
And now you're ready for the world
I want your energy
To take control of me
I've tried to go to sleep
And seen You in my dreams
Just in case I run across her today I'd just stay clean
Just in case you recognize her face, send her to me
And tell her I've been looking for her with a flashlight
You need not tell that ex-guy because I got my cash right
And only tell her if she honest and promise to stay true
Make sure, when you tell her, tell her we're going past the moon.
Please,
Deliver my message to Her soon.

Family / Happy Birthday Taiwo And Kehinde Akinyoade + Valentine Wishes by Abisoyee(m): 8:28am On Feb 14, 2015
http://akinwrites..com/2015/02/happy-birthday-taiwo-and-kehinde.html

It is still surprising to realize that its already a year since I received that phone call to inform me of the birth of these TWO amazing little children. I remember quite clearly I was with bae (now ex) and I had this really stunned look on my face when I was told the twins had arrived. I was ecstatic with joy and out of habit I recall whooping for joy in public.

The supermarket attendant that was trying to help us SELECT a wine for the special dinner we had planned for valentine gave her congratulations when she heard the news as well and she went ahead to give us a special discount. I really don’t know what to write and coming from a writer I guess that means a lot. Its been a year of watching you grow from little babies to toddlers, seeing YOUR happy faces when you smile and your incessant noise when you cry. Little Kenny isn’t the same tiny thing that Taiwo was fatter than, now he is the one that gets to be called ‘orobo.’

As you were the best valentine gift of last year and for the rest of our lives, my wishes for you are to grow in strength, wisdom, good looks and all the good things that life has to offer a human being. You innocence has reminded me several times of what it is to be a kid without worries in the world and that has been an uplift during many trying times. Can I forget so quickly the day Taiwo woke up and I was the first person he laid eyes on? How he wiped his chubby face with his little hands and called me ‘dada’ in baby language or Kenny’s little child protest every time I leave the house?

From me to you, I am wishing you a happy birthday with all the love that my heart has to share and wishing all Akin’s Corner Readers (ACR) a happy valentine. Show someone some love today and do ensure you bring a smile to your loved one’s faces.

Literature / Episode 11: Now That You Are Here: A Tale Of Deception And Betrayal by Abisoyee(m): 7:34am On Feb 12, 2015
http://akinwrites..com/2015/02/episode-11-now-that-you-are-here-tale.html

[Excerpt from Episode 10: They were both on the roller coaster of pleasure when Gbade’s voice broke through the cloud of passion “Damilola…” his voice sounded like it came from a thousand miles away but it was enough cold water to dampen the hot fire. The TWO sprung apart as they faced Gbade standing there, a briefcase in one hand and a box of chocolates in the other].

The two sprung apart as if their bodies were on fire. Muyiwa was the first to take control and he tried to maintain a bland expression as he stared at Gbade’s face which was contorted with rage. Damilola on the other hand bowed her head in shame and refused to meet Gbade’s gaze as for some few seconds they all stood in silence with Gbade’s eyes darting from ONE guilty person to the other. His reaction was so unexpected that it took all of them by surprise.
He hurled the briefcase he was holding at Muyiwa and followed that with a fling of the box of chocolates at Dammy’s bowed head.

The impact of the hard leather whizzed the breath out of Muyiwa as it hit him squarely on his bare chest and he heard Damilola’s soft cry as the chocolate box hit her head and she jerked up. Without pausing, Gbade rushed towards her and drawing her roughly by her hair, he slapped her face as he spat angrily “You slut! Cheap whoring bitch!” Her cry was a mixture of pain and surprise and a third slap had already landed on her swelling cheek before Muyiwa got to Gbade and pushed him off her. Free from her tormentor she fled the room without a backwards glance and only took time to pick her discarded CLOTHES as she rushed out of the house leaving the two men to their punches.

She was crying as she drove blindly to Anu’s house and she didn’t bother to try improving her appearance as she parked in her best friend’s compound and rushed up the flight of stairs. She fell into a bewildered Anu’s arms as Anu opened the door at the second ring of the doorbell and sobbed uncontrollably. Anu was scared to see Damilola crying inconsolably and her first reaction was to ask who died and she heaved a sigh of relief as she began to pick up the pieces of the story from Dammy’s hysteria. Her expression changed from concern to disgust as she heard what Gbade had walked in on but her expression was quick to move to anger as she heard about the beating and saw the swelling on the offended cheek. She hugged her friend as she tried to calm her down and after succeeding a bit, she asked what they were going to do about the two fighting men. “You can’t just leave them in YOUR house Dammy. It is very dangerous, one of them could hurt the other badly and it would have been because of you. Gbade is a total pig for hitting you but Muyiwa should have been more reasonable than to attack him. I would have to call Tunji to go over to your place and make sure that everything is alright.” Tunji was Anu’s husband and although he didn’t know about Damilola’s relationship with Muyiwa he was very much aware of her courtship with Gbade.

He was gone. That was all Tunji could say about Gbade when he came back from Damilola’s house. He had been reluctant to get involved when his wife had told him the situation but upon hearing about Gbade’s hitting Damilola he had changed his mind and driven over to her house to check the situation. He couldn’t believe Gbade hit Dammy because he knew the strong bond between the two and he had even had a secret wager with Anu about the two reconciling before six months of their break up. Although he disapproved of Damilola’s affair with Muyiwa he had always felt it was not his place to tell her that so and he had kept mute on the subject. When he returned from Damilola’s house, he kept his report to the basics. He had gotten to the house and found it empty but with evidence of the tussle that had gone on in the bedroom evident. Gbade’s car and CLOTHES were gone judging from the empty space in the closet that clearly showed the space had been occupied before. Damilola wept silently as he handed her the key of the house which he had taken the initiative to lock up and Anu had to resume her duty of consoling her.

Literature / Music Inspired: The Boy Is Mine by Abisoyee(m): 7:19am On Feb 10, 2015
http://akinwrites..com/2015/02/music-series-boy-is-mine.html

Note: This is a continuation of the previous story "Don't Take My Man," you can read that by visiting my profile.

Ada sashayed into the familiar room that was her best friend’s apartment. True best friends didn't go around trying to score with YOUR boyfriend not to talk of stepping out with him. She headed straight for Lizzy’s bedroom and signaled her bodyguard to remain in the living room. As she entered the large bedroom she heard the sound of the shower running and figured Lizzy must be in the bathroom as she called out to her.

‘Just a moment Ada’ Lizzy yelled back as the sound of running water stopped. Ada controlled the animalistic urge to barge into the bathroom and confront Lizzy head on and she jammed her hands together to control the shaking. Lizzy was all smiles as she came out with nothing on but a flimsy towel tied around her chest that ended just below her knees. She was beautiful with her rich dark hair falling to her shoulders in a lovely curl that was perfectly natural. A mix breed of a French man and an Igbo woman, she was stunning to look at and perfectly aware of her own looks, Lizzy never tired of using it to her advantage. Her tall slender frame belied the strength that lied within and has being the undoing of many a men. Despite her own successful music career, Ada sometimes felt like a fluke beside her best friend. Although she was careful never to let it show, she had the nagging fear that she paled in comparism to her drop dead gorgeous friend. She was equally a pretty thing to look at and had more than her fair share of attention but she was like a village beauty queen compared to Lizzy's Miss World beauty standard.

“What’s up with you babes, you look so tensed?” Lizzy’s voice broke the chain of her thoughts and she realized she had been glowering at Lizzy. While she had been glaring unconsciously, Lizzy had dropped her towel and was standing in nothing but her birthday suit as she preened and creamed her body, staring at her own reflection in ONE of the many standing mirrors that surrounded the room.

Ada glared for a few seconds more before she finally blurted out “Why Lizzy, why? Why do you always have to be a backstabbing low life bitch. I don't mind YOURbitchy ways but that's because we always have each other's back and you had to go right ahead and stab me."

Lizzy paused for a moment with a frown marring her otherwise flawless face and stared at Ada in genuine puzzlement. "What in Jupiter's name are you talking about?" she asked with a cock of her eyebrow. The innocent attitude only seemed to infuriate Ada the more as she moved closer to Lizzy and repeated with clenched teeth "Quit the holier than thou attitude slutty best friend of mine, tell me you haven't been shagging with Andrew and God knows i will totally flip. How could you Liz! He is my frigging boyfriend."

Lizzy's expression went from surprise to amusement as understanding dawned on her pretty face and she burst out laughing before replying “Take a chill pill Ada, it’s nothing really. Didn't think you were going to mind at all seeing that you are stringing the soppy dude along. I was bored and needed something to amuse myself and seducing him seemed to take my mind off it for a while. It's not like you have genuine feelings for Dre so why so serious babes?" Her tone clearly indicated that she was far from feeling sorry and this only seemed to infuriate Ada even further.

“This boy is mine Lizzy and I want you to back off. You don't take YOUR boredom out on my man so take your petty games somewhere else." Ada tried to keep her emotions in check as she realised she was beginning to raise her voice. It would be a shame and scandal for the both of them if word got out they were quarreling over a man.

“Quit acting like a fool Ada, Andrew is beneath us, just a toy to pass time with. Men have never been a big deal in times past, don’t make a big deal out of him.” Ada’s hand moved so quickly Lizzy didn’t see it coming until Ada’s palm hit her cheek. Her cheek smarted from the pain and she stared at her best friend first in shock then in anger. Her light skin turned red where she had been hit and her body trembled with contained anger,

“GET out! I want you to get the freaking Bleep outta my apartment now Ada. Just so you know, I will have him just because I can and there is nothing you can do about it!" Ada stared at her bets friend for a minute before she flounced off the room, determined to have her revenge.
