Health / Re: Anyone Trying IVF/IUI/ICSI (Fertility Treatments)? by Achry: 1:41pm On Dec 26, 2020

Thank you sir.... While I can't hold them responsible for the result we got, I can still hold them responsible for not telling us some important information we needed to know. If we had known the outcome of the embryos on time, we might have cancelled the cycle.

We went through almost every page on this thread and researched more before we settled for IVF and the hospital and we had questions handy. We asked lot of them but couldn't ask the important ones due to the way things are structured.

Even if they don't tell you everything without being asked. One has the right to know these regardless of asking them or not : the number of follicles retrieved and the outcome of fertilisation before transfer. Especially if it turned out to not be too good

Till now I still don't know the number of my follicles retrieved. The morning before the transfer, we asked to know the number of good embryos we had no one gave us answer.
I got the answer while I was on the table (just when he was about to do the transfer) If we had known earlier we might have cancelled the cycle.

After waking up from the retrieval procedure, you will be attended to by the nurses who don't have answers to your questions. The pain is always much you just want to go home and relax. If you call the hospital help desk, a nurse/receptionist will pick up and they won't have answers to your questions.

The best thing would have been to call us or text us about the number of follicle retrieved and if we would like to freeze if we have extra best grade embryos. We were worried of being in the dark that was why dh went about asking while I was in the prep room for retrieval.
There was no doctor available to give him answers and the nurses available didn't have any. It was when I got into the transfer room that I was able to ask.
Not sure they were going to tell me if I didn't ask. Right there in that emotional state I couldn't make any other decision for hubby and I. All that was on my mind was if I had been doing so fine and I had lot of follicles (based on what the doctor that retrieved said before I was sedated) how come we only have just 1 embryo that made it to blastocyst stage. What could have possibly gone wrong

We had another meeting with the Dr after the negative result and we demanded to know the number of follicles retrieved and to know the likely reasons while we had only one blastocyst when everything has been fine up until that moment. He said he would have to ask the embryologist, he later mentioned a number during our conversation (without asking the embryologist) hubby and I noticed the inconsistency. I asked for the copies of our results, I was pushed around till my heart couldn't take it anymore and we left to go back later.

Please note I am only talking about not being carried along, not saying they are not capable. No! If we thought so we wouldn't settle for them in the first place.

That is why I advised up there, that anyone planning to use them or any other clinics should do their own research and demand for answers no matter what

Anyway, we share our experience here so others can prepare better when planning theirs.

I responded late but I just want to say your assessment of this hospital is on point! I had a horrible experience with them too. The nurses and doctors rarely gave out details. When u ask the will refer you to Dr. Kingswill himself. It's frustrating trying to follow up your treatment and protocol
