CRISTIANO RONALDO has posted a cute family snap with his daughters to celebrate winning Serie A in his first season since swapping Real Madrid for Juventus.

The Portuguese superstar became the first man to win league titles in England, Spain and Italy after helping the Old Lady claim yet another Scudetto.

The 34-year-old talisman notched 26 goals and 12 assists from 38 appearances at the Turin club in a stunning first season at the Allianz Stadium.

In a sweet snap on Instagram, Ronaldo toasted his success with his two daughters Alana Martina and Eva Maria with the caption: "My Princesses."

The Nigeria and Algeria internationals delivered spectacular performances to help the Yellow-Reds ease past Erol Bulut’s men at Malatya Arena

Henry Onyekuru and Sofiane Feghouli were on target to help Galatasaray advance into the Turkish Cup final.

The Nigeria international Onyekuru got a pair of goals while Feghouli found the back of the net as the Yellow-Reds claimed a 5-2 victory over Yeni Malatyaspor in Thursday’s Turkish Cup semi-final game.

After the first leg ended in goalless draw, Galatasaray hit the ground running at the Malatya Arena with Martin Linnes opening the flood of goals five minutes into the encounter.

Feghouli doubled the lead in the 39th minute while Martin Linnes reduced the deficit from the penalty spot for Yeni Malatyaspor moments before the half-time break.

After the restart of the match, Onyekuru compounded the woes of their host with his 58th minute effort and completed his brace 16 minutes later.

Kostas Mitroglou sealed the emphatic win in the 84th minute to render a late-minute strike from Arturo Mina a consolation.

Galatasaray will try Akhisarspor for size in the final of the Cup competition.

A leak of Chelsea's potential new home kit for next season has emerged and it includes print 'inspired by Stamford Bridge'.


The full strip, which has not been confirmed, was revealed by Footy Headlines on Thursday.

The blue home shirt features the club's sponsors, Nike swoosh and club badge like usual.


For the 2019-20 campaign the jersey has been completed by a darker blue print which was reportedly influenced by the Blues stadium. In addition, red features on both the back of the shirt and the blue socks while the shorts are also blue.

Chelsea's kit deal with Nike is the sixth most lucrative contract with a total value of £900million.

The Premier League outfit signed the 15-year deal for the 2017-18 season and is worth £60m a year.



The Chelsea kit for next campaign is expected to be unveiled before the end of this season.

Liverpool released their 2019-20 home kit - reminiscent of the strip that the successful Reds teams wore in the 1980s - just last week.

Popular Nigerian Gospel artiste Sinach has mentioned that even she wouldn’t mind her songs being played at night clubs across the world as long as people are getting the message and their lives are being changed.

The singer made this known in a chat with Sunday Punch where she also talked about her career as a gospel singer, the problems that come with being famous and a whole lot more.

Did you know you would become a celebrated singer from the onset?

I didn’t even think singing was a career. When I joined the choir, I didn’t know any famous choir singer to tell me that singing in the choir could make me famous. I didn’t start with a band or start with a branded identity; so, I will say that becoming a famous singer is simply by God’s grace.

Was music all you wanted to do as a child?

Growing up as a child, I had flashes of dreams of being a singer because I have always loved singing and everyone around me felt I could sing as well. But, to be honest with you, I didn’t think I would end up as a singer. I strongly believe God designed my life for me.

Why did you settle for gospel music?

Like I said earlier, God has a hand in what I do today; doing gospel music is God’s choice for me. It’s important we realise that God created us for a purpose and it is very important for everyone to find that purpose and fulfill it. So, I will say I yielded to God’s purpose for my life.

I have been singing in the church since 1989, though it started as a hobby. I initially planned to leave the country after studying Physics at the University of Port Harcourt in Rivers State, but Pastor Chris Oyakhilome invited me to serve in the ministry. But for him, I might not have discovered my gift. Also, serving in the church has given me a solid foundation that helps me stand strong.

How would you describe Pastor Chris’ impact on your life?

He is my mentor, life coach and a spiritual father to my husband and I.

How would you describe your childhood?

I had a very beautiful childhood experience. My parents taught me a lot of things, which formed the bedrock of who I am today. I can also remember my formative years in the house of God; it has also played a vital role in my life up to this moment.I am the second daughter of seven children. I am from Ebonyi State.

When did you become a born-again Christian?

I got born again many years ago when I was younger and I have experienced increasing grace and favour since then. The Bible says He takes us from glory to glory.

As a kid, who were your role models?

My biggest role models have always been my parents. My dad was a man of conviction and my mum is a woman filled with so much wisdom and love. I inherited my father’s tenacity, and deep love for people and God. I also have my mother’s wisdom, her ability to organise, create things and to see beyond the ordinary. I miss my dad, but I am so blessed and happy that I still have my precious mum with me.

Which of your songs is so dear to you?

This is a very difficult question for me to answer. All the songs God has blessed me with are very dear to me. I am a fan of my songs. They bless me and have ministered to me at different times in my life. For instance, I Trust in You is a prayer song that gave me the strength I needed during a certain time in my life.

Do you agree that I Know Who I Am is your biggest song so far?

I am not sure I understand your definition of ‘biggest’, but I will say God has enlarged my music at different levels in different languages, networks, territories and places.

For instance, on Youtube, Way Maker has over 65 million views while I Know Who I Am has about 40 million views. Way Maker has been remixed by different people in different nations and in different languages. Also, Great Are You Lord is sung in almost all languages in churches around the world.

My point here is this — naming a song as the biggest hit so far is very relative to the science we use in measuring it. We may get to heaven and God gives accolades to my song you probably have never heard of. However, my next song is always my favourite because it is new to me.

How did you get the inspiration for I Know Who I Am?

I wrote it during my preparation for a youth concert in 2012. The idea was to create an upbeat track that could excite youths. It was done, but I didn’t perform it at the event for some reason. Later, when I was doing a live recording in South Africa, I included it. The song has been well received all over the world.

What has been the secret of your rise?

In my song, No One Knows, one of the lines says, “Your favour surrounds me like a shield, your love amazes me, your grace has lifted me!” In other words, God’s mercy, favour and unusual grace have made my life so beautiful. My mentor, Pastor Chris said that God’s grace has come into our lives to prove that the word of God can make your life beautiful no matter where you come from or your environment! That’s always my testimony and message; God is a way maker.

My love for God and fellowship with Him has sweetened my life. He leads me in the path I should go, which is living a God’s purposeful life. If you find yourself living a life of purpose for Him, you will be successful. Even if I were called to do something else, I would still rise to the zenith.

However, putting your life in God’s hand doesn’t mean you should not be diligent; improve yourself and seek to become the best at what you do. Quality and excellence are important ingredients for success, and they are products of diligence.

How will you feel if your music is played at a nightclub?

Recently, a friend sent me a video of my song being played at a club. I noted from the reaction that they were singing along as they listened to the music. When you produce the right music with the right lyrics, people will look for it. Everyone needs encouragement, love and inspiration. My music is powerful and when people listen to my music, they will get inspired.

What are your concerns for the gospel music industry?

I don’t have concerns but rather I am excited about how far we have come and what is ahead. Gospel music is a form of entertainment, but it also inspires with the right message. When properly showcased in every available platform to reach as many people as possible, it can encourage and inspire people to move in the right direction. I believe that my music has the right content to make an impact in the lives of both the young and old people globally.

Many people, especially the youth, have lost hope in the environment, leaders and the Nigerian system. Many youths have lost their minds and some are taking the easy way out through suicide, quick money, immorality and drugs. But gospel music can heal hopeless souls.

Do you think gospel music can ever be appreciated as much as secular music in Nigeria?

Absolutely, yes I think so. We have many people who listen to gospel music because it means good news. The number increases daily more than you can imagine.

With your busy schedule, how do you make time for your family?

I prioritise well. When you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Also, my husband is my biggest supporter; his encouragement is a great help to me. He is not afraid to let me shine and he is always happy when I excel. My husband is a precious gift

Do you see yourself quitting music to focus on other things in the near future?

The most important thing is fulfilling God’s purpose for my life. He leads, I follow.

What is your biggest fear in life?

I don’t have fears and I don’t have regrets either. I have fewer challenges because I have a team behind me. I am blessed because I belong to a good ministry and I am always around good people.

If music had failed, what would you have settled for?

With God, there are no failures. I couldn’t have failed as God doesn’t sponsor flops.

What are those things you still wish to achieve?

I currently have lots of philanthropic works going on in different parts of the world; I will make them public soon. Also, I receive requests from different parts of the world for mentorship. By God’s grace, September this year, I will debut the ‘Sinach Mentors, Live initiative.’

How does your success story make you feel?

As an individual, regardless of your success, there is always something more you like to achieve. There’s no resting on my oars as God ministers songs and lyrics to me all the time. To whom much is given, much is expected.

People know me everywhere I go; so, it’s hard sometimes when I want to have private moments with my husband or loved ones. Fans will always approach one for pictures and I understand their excitement. I feel surprised when I go to a country I have never been to and they know my songs.

How do you handle criticisms?

If you are not doing something good, nobody will criticise you. Criticism is a sign that you are making an impact and influencing lives. Though I do not dwell on negative criticisms, I pay attention to constructive criticisms. I am so blessed to be surrounded with valuable and Godly mentors who continuously offer positive and constructive criticisms.

When do you regard as your lowest and highest points in life?

I don’t have any lowest point. Of course, challenges arise, but God knows the way through the wilderness and walking with Him keeps you flying high.

I have high points every day. When I read comments, posts and see what the Lord is doing with the gift He has given me, those are special moments for me and I experience them daily.

What has fame changed about you?

Fame has made me realise more than ever before that we are the living epistles of the Lord Jesus Christ because you’ve got the whole world watching.

How do you cope with pressure and demands that come with fame?

Once you always have the right people around you, and you are always in the right place at the right time, life becomes easy for you.

How do you get inspiration for your songs?

I am a servant of the people; so, I try to service their needs. I have realised that everybody needs encouragement as there is so much going on in today’s world. My music comes from the sermons I hear from my pastor. I grew up in the church and it inspires what I do.

What advice will you give to young gospel singers?

They need to remember that they are Christians first and artistes second. All gospel artistes need to serve in the church so as to receive discipleship. Some of them are not strong Christians, which explains why they fall into certain traps and the media blows it up. But failing in one area doesn’t mean they are not Christians. The grace of God covers our sins and restores us; so, we shouldn’t be too hard on them also.

I always tell young artistes to know their season. If something does not work for you at the moment, there is no need to force it. They need to know when to wait and when to move.

Also, they should know that excellence commands attention. You have to work hard to be the best at what you do. Artistes need to believe in their talents and invest their own money into their music. It is not always wise to depend on sponsors to get you to the next level.

How do you relax?

Music relaxes me. Also, I like to sit in my garden, listen to the birds chirping and enjoy the freshness of nature. I spend a lot of time with my family and loved ones too and I cherish it a lot.

What is your favourite food?

That will be my husband’s delicacies; he has some special recipes for me. Those special moments when the Lord ministers to him, I love his delicacies.

Cruzeiro have signed Ronaldinho’s 14-year-old son Joao Mendes to a training contract at the club that will run until he is 19 years old.

The agreement was put in place between the club and player on Friday after Mendes had impressed in the club’s youth system.

He’s been playing for Cruzeiro since last year and now looks set for a long stay with the Brazilian side, with the club’s director of grassroots football, Amarildo Ribeiro, revealing his best attributes.

“Today, we signed the contract of Joao Mendes, who is a promising player with interesting characteristics and who, I believe, will soon be integrating with our professional team,” Ribeiro told Cruzeiro’s website.

“He is a tall player with high technical quality. A player who can play both as a box player and as a second striker. He is a player who, even with his size, has speed and finishes very well.”

Mendes’s signing comes from his own hard work rather than gaining the opportunity via his father’s reputation.

When he first went on trial with the club, he kept the fact his father was Ronaldinho a secret and opted to rely on his ability only to secure a place in the team.

Now, he’s eyeing a long stay at the club with hopes to one day play for the first team.


“It was the team that opened the door for me. I have a great affection for the club,” Mendes told the club’s official website.

“The training is very good, the structure is very good. It’s the biggest club in Brazil and it’s a pleasure to play here.

“It’s a very happy day. Thanks to the board for the confidence you have given to me. I also thank God for me being able to play every day.

“It is a dream that one day I can sign the professional contact with Cruzeiro, play professionally, score a goal in the crowded Mineirao and dedicate it to the fans.”

Ronaldinho started his club career himself playing for Porto Alegre side Gremio before transferring to Paris Saint-Germain for the 2001-02 season.

Later on in his career, having established himself as one of the world’s best players during his time with Barcelona, he played for Flamengo, Atletico Mineiro and Fluminense before retiring in 2015.

Robert Kelly, a.k.a R.Kelly, gets to walk away from jail after pleading not guilty to all 10 counts and paying 100, 000 dollars bail bond.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that R Kelly, a black American and a native of Chicago, is a singer, songwriter, record producer, and former professional basketball player.

R.Kelly is a free man, at least temporarily, as he was able to come up with the 100, 000 dollars before getting bail.

According to TMZ reports, the music icon is able to get bail after it was revealed that he will have to pay off a six-figure child support.
TMZ said that Kelly’s bond, which was 10 per cent of his one million dollars bail, was finally posted Monday, Feb. 25, after he appeared in court and entered a not guilty to plea to all 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse.

The report also noted that less than 24 hours to his release, it was reported that there was another sex tape involving the music icon and a teenager, which according to a lawyer, was worse than the previously released tape.

According to TMZ, the lawyer Michael Avenatti, will turn over a 55-minute VHS video to Cook County prosecutors.

“It was also revealed that the video shows R. Kelly having sex with the same 14-year-old girl depicted in the first video Avenatti obtained, which was shot in 1999.

“This second video was shot around 2000. Just like the previous video, there are multiple references to the girl being 14 years.
“At one point, it is revealed that R. Kelly is seen choking the girl while having anal intercourse,’’ it said.

Also sources close to TMZ, also said that there was a part where he took some sort of lotion and “sprays” it all over her face
.
It is also revealed that he then choked her, mounts her from behind and turns her face to the camera for a reaction shot.

A small crowd had gathered outside the court booing and calling the music icon names as he walked away a free man.

John Obi Mikel has opened up on a wide range of issues in an interview with The Sun especially his move to English Championship side, Middlesbrough in the January transfer window.

It’s no surprise that the Nigerian international missed his family in England and it was the major reason he gave for dumping Tianjin Teda even when he had one more year left in his contract with the Chinese Super League side.

Two years have passed since he left Chelsea for China but the Champions League winner made his return to English football on January 23 after signing a short-term deal with Boro.

The midfielder explained: “I look at my time in China as an experience — it wasn’t bad. “Everyone was so nice but sometimes you miss home and that’s what I did. I missed home and wanted to come back.”

Now just two hours from London where girlfriend Olga and his two young children, Mia and Ava, are based, he is thriving on his new challenge in the Championship. In 11 gilded years at Stamford Bridge, the Nigerian midfielder saw ten head coaches come and go but there was no doubting the club’s true leader.

Mikel revealed: “If we lost a game, we may not speak to each other for a day to show this was not good and tomorrow had to be better.

“We were just so hungry. Did we take it a bit too far? Sometimes, yes, we had to.

“There were people fighting, grabbing round the neck, John Terry smashing the table and drinks. If we were losing a game you did not want to be in the dressing room.

“There were countless times. If we were 1-0 down at half-time and had to win, he did it time in, time out.

“The manager would speak and then leave it to JT to carry on. He smashes the whole place up and then we go back out and get the win.

“What he said, we followed. What he did, we followed. We looked at him for a reaction and we followed.

Mikel said: “I’ve been there and won many trophies and I want to try to instil that in this team.

Chelsea for me when you walk in.”

But he believes their departure from Stamford Bridge has left a void, as he analyses Maurizio Sarri’s current crop like a frustrated fan.

He said: “When I watch them now, they’re fantastic players but I don’t see leaders. During our time I could scream at Didier Drogba or Lampard.

“I was 24 or 25 years old but I could voice my opinion and it would be heard.

“Now when I watch them, there’s no one talking to each other, taking responsibility of being the leader. You need that edge and right now that’s what they’re lacking.”

Mikel said his focus is on the future and taking Boro back to the top tier after two years in the Championship.

He added: “I’m just getting to know the players. You have to watch and see who has a strong mentality, who has the same view and goal as you.

“The good thing is everyone here wants to get promoted and has a winning mentality and we want to take that a little bit higher. This is a Premier League club for me and that is why I am here.”

Aaron Ramey has confirmed his move to Juventus.

The Welsh international has beem rumoured to be on a move to Serie A at the of the season but reports revealed he has signed a pre contract with Maximiliano Allegri side.

A brilliant second half goal from Hadji Drame set up a mouth –watering semi final clash between the Junior Eagles of Mali and Nigeria’s Flying Eagles at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Niger Republic, while eliminating 2009 world champions Ghana.

The all –West African semi final will take centre stage on Wednesday, 13th February at the Stade General Seyni Kountche.

Both teams were on three points each from their previous two matches and while Ghana needed only a draw to qualify for the semi finals as a result of having no goal deficit, the Malians, needing an outright win to qualify, showed greater desire and passion on the ball from the beginning, with Boubacar Traore, El Bilal Toure and Mamadou Traore combining well together at the fore.

Ghana, through the lively Mohamed Kudus, Enoch Atta Agyei and Emmanuel Kumah afterwards tried to impose themselves on the game, but the Malians held firm at the rear while launching forays upfront, and always looked the most likely to get a goal.

The Flying Eagles, who reached the FIFA U20 World Cup and the championship semi finals on Friday with a 1-0 victory over host Niger Republic, were at the Stade Seyni Kountche alongside their technical and backroom staff to watch the Ghana, Mali clash.

Mali lost their opening game 0-2 to Senegal, before they defeated Burkina Faso by a lone goal in Maradi. Victory over Ghana shot them to the last four and earned them a ticket to the FIFA U20 World Cup finals in Poland.

Paul Scholes has been appointed as manager of Oldham Athletic after being given the green light by the EFL following his involvement with Salford.



The former Manchester United legend will begin work at the League Two club on Monday after he is unveiled as the club's new boss.

Issues surrounding Scholes' part-ownership of Salford City were ironed out during a two-day EFL board meeting.

Reportminds.com understands Scholes has been allowed to retain a stake in Salford, who are gunning for promotion from the National League. The board deemed that there is no conflict of interest and that decision will not change should the Class of 92's side end up in the same division as Oldham next season.

It means the 44-year-old is free to begin work at Boundary Park on Monday. Scholes had agreed an 18-month deal with his boyhood club some time ago but was waiting on clearance.

EFL rules prevent anyone holding roles with two clubs at the same time without prior consent. A stake of 10 per cent or less, which Scholes has at Salford, is overlooked if seen as 'purely for investment purposes'.



His first game in the dugout is should be when Oldham host Yeovil Town on Tuesday. Scholes is expected to name Mick Priest as his assistant.

Priest, from Oldham, was an academy coach at United during Scholes's time at Old Trafford and has previously had a spell as first-team coach at Fulham. He was also assistant manager of Israeli side Maccabi Haifa and assistant coach at Norwegian outfit IK Start.

Pete Wild has occupied the caretaker role since Oldham — who are 15th in League Two — sacked Frankie Bunn just after Christmas.

Scholes was approached about taking over by owner Abdallah Lemsagam last month. He told Lemsagam that interference in selection would not be tolerated and that sole control was non-negotiable.



Previous managers, not least former United trainee Richie Wellens, encountered difficulties with Lemsagam. The owner's brother, Mohamed, has been employed as sporting director.

The wage bill, which stands at almost £2.5million, is one of the highest in the division, but Lemsagam — a former agent — has been accused of favouritism towards his own signings.

Some players are angry about meddling from the board, with former striker Craig Davies — who left for Mansfield Town last summer — launching stinging criticism at Lemsagam.

Davies said: 'I've never worked for someone who thinks it's acceptable to treat his staff and players in such a bad way, with him calling players into his office, criticising their team-mates to them, calling meetings to humiliate other players in front of all the team just days before the most important match of the season. This will have an effect on the mood of the club.'

Manchester United star Anthony Martialslept with a model at a cheap Paris hotel while his girlfriend was pregnant, it has been alleged.

The French forward is reported to have taken Malika Semichi to the £70-a-night Hotel du Midi in Paris in July, after he was left out of France's triumphant World Cup squad.

His girlfriend Melanie da Cruz was expecting his second child - later named Swan - at the time of the alleged night with the model.

Semichi, a 20-year-old model. told the Daily Star Sunday: 'I have to say I was surprised when he told me which hotel he had picked.



'It wasn't the nicest and was a bit rundown and cheap, especially seeing as he's used to much nicer hotels.

'But I knew he had a girlfriend so presumed it was because he didn't want anyone to see us together.'

The pair had reportedly met in a Paris nightclub called Hobo, before exchanging messages in which Martial is said to have called her his 'second girlfriend'.

Martial split from Samantha Jacquelinet, the mother of his first child, in 2016 when he began his relationship with Melanie.

Samantha said her relationship with the forward had fallen after his £58million transfer to Old Trafford from Monaco.

The session was staged by Uefa referees chief Roberto Rosetti in Frankfurt on Monday ahead of next week’s adoption of the technology from the last 16 stage.

Marouane Fellaini has completed his permanent move from Manchester United to Chinese club Shandong Luneng Taishan FC.

Reports suggest the 31-year-old moved for £10.5m, signing a three-year deal at the club.
"Everybody at United thanks Marouane for his service and wishes him well for the future as he completes his move to in China," a statement from Man Utd read.

The Belgium international joined United from Everton back in August 2013, and scored 22 goals in 177 appearances during his five-and-a-half seasons at the club.

Fellaini lifted the FA Cup, Community Shield, League Cup and most notably the Europa League during his time at Old Trafford.

Reports indicate that Cameroon have been stripped off the rights to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
The hosting of the Afcon was part of the agenda in the Confederation of African Football (Caf) Extraordinary Executive Committee meeting held in Accra, Ghana on November 30.

Two reports that were central to the final decision regarding Cameroon were to be tabled namely; report of inspection visits of the security committee from October 27 to November 1 as well as a report of the inspection visit from November 11-15.

In October, Caf President Ahmad Ahmad visited Yaounde for a meeting with Cameroon President Paul Biya just days after Caf deferred the final decision on the hosting of next year's Afcon.

At that time, a report by the last inspection team to Cameroon revealed “a significant delay as far as the delivery of infrastructure is concerned.”

Cameroon's hosting of African football's showpiece event has been in jeopardy for months since the decision to increase the tournament from 16 to 24 teams.

Caf will now give a one month window where countries interested in hosting the tournament will submit their official bids.

Morocco, who unsuccessfully bid for the 2026 Fifa World Cup, are likely to replace Cameroon as hosts. South Africa, hosts of the 2010 World Cup, could also be considered.

This will be the second time in recent times that Caf has stripped a country of hosting rights of a continental tourney. Kenya was declared unfit to host the Africa Nations Championships (Chan) in January this year. Morocco replaced Kenya as hosts.

The 22-year-old attacker joined the Hornets in August 2016 from Spanish La Liga side Granada in a record deal of around £12.5 million.

Kano Pillars forward Junior Lokosa has been awarded the 2017/18 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Player of the Season and Highest Goal Scorer by the League Bloggers Awards (LBA).

Lokosa had a fruitful season in front of goal and was duly awarded the top scorer award for surpassing every player on the league.

The 2017/18 NPFL season came to an end with several games yet to play and Lokosa already had 19 goals and could have surpassed Enyimba legend Mfon Udoh’s 23 goal season record.

Samuel Chukwueze scored his second La Liga goal this season for his club Villarreal Sunday night in their 2-1 win against Real Betis at the Estadio de la Ceramica.
Chukwueze scored Villarreal's second goal in the 52nd minute as he fired a low shot to the bottom left corner after a receiving a back heeled pass by Santi Cazorla.

Bordeaux Nigerian winger, Samuel Kalu is favorite to be named as captain of the national U23 team when they resume for camping ahead of the qualifiers for the 20 year old Kalu is already a firm fan favorite owing to his displays since his debut for the Super Eagles and he has shown enough to be considered for the role of captain of the U23 team.

Spanish LaLiga outfit have congratulated their forward Samuel Chukwueze on making his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday, November 20.

The teenage Nigerian forward made his first appearance for the senior national team in the international friendly encounter between Nigeria and the Cranes of Uganda .

Former Arsenal striker, Nicklas Bendtner, will have to spend 50 days in jail after dropping his appeal against an assault conviction.


Recall that earlier this month, the Danish footballer, 30, was found guilty of beating and kicking a cab driver in the Danish capital on September 9. He admitted to hitting the man but said he had acted in self-defense after a quarrel over the fare.

The incident took place in September. At trial, the City Court of Copenhagen was shown CCTV footage in which it appeared Bendtner struck the driver in the face.

Bendtner, who currently plays for Norwegian side Rosenborg, was sentenced to 50 days in prison and fined 1,500 kroner (£179).

His lawyer Anders Nemeth confirmed that Bendtner agreed with the attorney general in Copenhagen to drop his appeal, but will serve the sentence at his home in Denmark, under "intensive surveillance" with an electronic tag.

"Even though he disagrees with the verdict, he would rather focus on his club and family," Nemeth told the BBC.

But it's yet unknown when he will serve the sentence.

Didier Drogba was a "monster in the dressing room" who won countless big games for Chelsea, according to Frank Lampard.

It was announced on Wednesday that Drogba would retire from the game at the age of 40 following a professional career spanning two decades, the peak years of which the Ivorian spent at Stamford Bridge.

In nine seasons across two spells, Drogba won a dozen major honours, including four Premier League titles and a famous Champions League triumph in 2012.

And Lampard, a key figure alongside the striker in the most successful era in Chelsea's history, paid a glowing tribute to his former team-mate.

"I get asked a lot who are the greatest players you played with. One retired relatively recently in John Terry, and the other is Didier Drogba," Derby County manager Lampard told a news conference.

"He is the most incredible player. He's a monster in the dressing room.
