Let's give women chance. They might turn this country around. With bits of luck in every department

Like CROATIAn president . She's gorgeous and gave CROATIA that luck to be in the final. Maybe if we elect a gorgeous lady as president our boys might do well in the next World Cup. She might promise sex to any guy who scored and boom! Even our keeper will try scoring even if it's from post to post.

Am just saying though.. . undecided

You're right tho but do you think the women want it?

Taraba state for example had her election rigged to deny a woman from becoming the first elected female governor.

Women are much more than the men counterparts but because of greed n low self-esteem, they won't see it as a competition but playing second fiddle and prefer their comfort zone

Without looking at the pictures at first, you would think the damage being described is a structural one, that which eats deep into the root of the structure, alas upon reading further, I saw pictures of the blown up roof of the bridge. The roof could have been blown off by a heavy windstorm, they could have been vandalized.
And you can't just throw figures at us and claim that is the cost of completing the bridge, give us an evidence to support your claim.

From your comment, you're in the construction industry.

They come here throwing figures and the lazy youths instead of reading posts, process it before commenting would just start typing.

Most of his write-up were culled from leadership online publishers in 2012.

By the way, no concrete evidence to show details of the contract but the leadership in 2012 said the contract include pulling down a deteriorating bridge and construction of a new one.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, explained that government is constrained to construct pedestrian bridges over major highways in the state to solve problems of traffic snarl on Lagos roads.

In keeping with the philosophy, he said the state government has awarded the contract for the replacement of the failed pedestrian bridge at Ilasamaja on the Oshodi- Apapa expressway to Messrs P.W. Nig. Ltd.

LEADERSHIP checks revealed that skeletal work has already begun on the project which in recent times, constituted a serious problem to pedestrians. With the failed structure already pulled down, the project which is to gulp about N400 million will be completed in four months.

God blees you.

Your article was published in 2012. Lol

From the article which was published in 2012, it means pulling down of an existing bridge is even part of the #400m project.

Bridge demolition is done differently from buildings'.

AutoJoshNG:
This is the Ilasamaja pedestrian bridge. It is situated at Sadiku bus-stop at Ilasamaja on the Oshodi- Apapa expressway in Lagos state.

The bridge was constructed and commissioned in 2013 by the Babatunde Fashola Administration.

This pedestrian bridge was built as a replacement for an earlier existing one that had dangerously degraded.

The length of the bridge is about 100 meters. The construction firm of Messrs P.W. Nig. Ltd. constructed it. It cost the Lagos state government N400 million to construct it.

This bridge – commissioned with a good measure of fanfare 5 years ago – is fast disintegrating in installments.

For instance, about a year, a portion of the roof, placed as a shelter on the bridge, dismantled, ostensibly by the elements of nature. Ever since it happened, and contrary to expectations, the authorities have failed to get it replaced.

Sadly, things like this further lends credence to the growing impression that our government embark on projects with absolutely no plan to maintain them.

I'm beginning to see your blog as misleading.

Pardon my thought bro but it's very unfair to post such report without full details.

To begin with, why can't you give us the full details of the project which has it's contract sum to be 400m Naira. I bet the sum would cover the preliminaries as per tendering processes, consultation, design, construction, monitoring and control, Auxiliaries like traffic diversions n securities.

5% retention might have been paid to the contractor after 6 months completion without defect.

However, the issue with deterioration might be linked to differences between the incumbent Gov n his Predecessor. This is in relation to maintenance culture of our system.

By the way, your pictures only show wind blown roofing but not a structural failure or defect of the same pedestrian bridge.

Try do more on investigative journalism so as not to defame.

Travel / Re: Lagos-Badagry Expressway Collapses! Motorists, Commuters Suffer by ademoladeji(m): 3:09pm On Jul 08, 2018
The road is under construction.... I wonder where the collapse is coming from.

We’ll Complete Lagos-Badagry Expressway Expansion By 2019-Ambode Assures

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday assured residents that the ongoing Lagos-Badagry Expressway Expansion project would be completed before the end of 2019.

The Governor, who spoke shortly after embarking on extensive inspection of ongoing projects across the State, said the project was a major economic catalyst for Lagos and therefore his administration was totally committed to seeing it through.

Recalling that his recent visit to Denmark was to finalise plans with APM Terminals to fast-track the commencement of work on the $2.6billion Badagry Deep Sea Port, Governor Ambode said it was important for the road network to be completed within schedule to accommodate the anticipated increase in economic activities within the axis.

“On the part of government, it is imperative that the project is accelerated and completed on schedule. It is a 10-lane expansion project with a provision for rail,” he said.

Governor Ambode said that though the project was awarded to Okokomaiko, his administration was almost at financial close to give it to a concessionaire who is expected to extend the project from Okokomaiko to Seme Border.

“We believe strongly that the contractor has done a good job here. We have given him the right of way and it is our belief that the one that has been awarded should be completed on schedule. I am committed to this project; I am committed to the expansion of the economy of the East axis of Lagos. That is the surest way to go.

“By doing this project, we would also expand the real estate value of this axis and the tourism potentials of the Badagry axis. I am confident that in no time, we should have a complete project before the end of 2019,” he said.

Explaining the progress of work done so far, General Manager of Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC), South West, Mr. Guan Shuai, said extensive work had been done on three Flyovers and Interchange Bridges in Alaba, Agboju and Alakija.

He noted that the challenge of relocating pipes and cables belonging to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) which hitherto slowed down the project had been resolved through the intervention of Governor Ambode.

While inspecting the stretch of link road from Agbelekale off Ekoro Road to Abesan Estate via Church Street, Giwa and Aboru, Governor Ambode expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project so far, but charged the contractor and supervisors to ensure the delivery of the project within the first quarter of 2017.

The Governor, who was received amidst fanfare by residents who displayed placard of various inscriptions commending him for the project, said the bridge being constructed as part of the project had to be extended from 240meters to 360meters due to the nature of soil in the area.

He said: "Just about five months ago, we were here to see the progress of this project. This road is designed to connect all the people living in the Aboru area to Iyana-Ipaja and also to the LASU-Iba road and all the people living within the Ajasa Community. You will recall also that just about three months ago, we were here to open up the Ajasa Command road and this is another project to complement the opening up of the Alimosho community.

"Like the contractor has promised, we hope to finish this project by the end of January next year. We have also found out that we need to extend this bridge by an additional 120 meters because of the nature of the soil in this area. I had earlier promised that this project would be delivered by the end of this year but I'm pleased with the progress being made on this project. I want to urge the contractors and the supervisors to ensure that we meet the completion date and that within the first quarter of next year, all the people in Alimosho will enjoy this facility," he said.

At Irede Road in Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Governor Ambode was briefed by the Commissioners for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ganiyu Johnson and Housing, Mr. Gbolahan Lawal, who narrated the inter-ministerial work being planned for the axis.

Lawal said a 30 hectare land at Ado Trade Fair had already been designated for a 500 Housing Units which would be constructed in partnership with the private sector.

He said the project, which is a transit oriented development, would open up the area for economic activities and real estate, adding that it would complement the 13 stations of the Blue Line Rail Project and 10-lane Lagos-Badagry Express road.

In his response, Governor Ambode expressed displeasure with the state of Irede Road, assuring that work would start on the road within the next four weeks.

He said: "It is very clear that this Irede road is in a very deplorable condition. I have come personally to see it and I have received complaints from people of this community. I also see that the economic value that we stand to benefit from upgrading this road is unquantifiable.

"Beyond the fact that we will open up the road to the Lagos Badagry Expressway, we also intend to expand our housing policy and the rent-to-own scheme to this neighbourhood. So, I like to just clearly state that work would commence on Irede Road within the next four weeks," he said.

Sports / Beckham Wins England Bet To Bring Ibrahimovic To Wembley For Fish And Chips -pix by ademoladeji(m): 2:45pm On Jul 08, 2018

Having entered into a bizarre wager with the Swede ahead of a World Cup quarter-final, the Three Lions legend is ready to collect his winnings
David Beckham is ready to collect the winnings of a bizarre England versus Sweden bet with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with the LA Galaxy star heading to Wembley for fish and chips.

Two former Paris Saint-Germain team-mates entered into a wager ahead of a quarter-final clash between their respective nations at World Cup 2018.

Ibrahimovic was the one to float the idea, with the enigmatic Swede eager to see his countrymen get one over on the Three Lions.

He vowed to take ex-England skipper Beckham out for a meal at any restaurant in the world if he found himself on the losing side.

That promise was countered by the request that he could pick any item he wanted from Ikea if the Three Lions came unstuck.

Gareth Southgate’s side were to emerge victorious on Saturday, with Harry Maguire and Dele Alli getting the goals in a 2-0 win.

As they march forward to the semi-finals, Beckham can start readying himself for a trip to London with Ibrahimovic.

He dictated that the 36-year-old had to join him at an England game, wearing an England shirt and indulge in an English delicacy at the interval.

Ibrahimovic posted a message to Beckham via Instagram to indicate that he would make good on the wager, saying, "I'm coming" and also expressed his enormous admiration for the players in reach the quarter-finals.

"Every player should get a golden ball in Sweden," he tweeted. "What they did will be remembered forever. Thank you for the show."

The Three Lions are due to open their UEFA Nations League campaign that evening against Spain.

They then have a friendly date to take in with the U.S. national team on home soil on November 15.

For now, though, their focus remains locked on events in Russia, having reached their first World Cup semi-final since 1990.

When people say romance section is filled with stupid, unintelligent and crazy people, I usually dismiss them as false claims but I've come to realize that they are right.

Your slavery of the mind is beyond redemption.
You created a thread and you advised only women to learn how to cook ,why didn't you tell men to learn how to cook?

You once claimed that you're a mature lady and this section is filled with kid but you were indirectly talking about yourself.

And she's insulting me? I really don't expect much from you. Typical dumb and primitive African lady.

Like I told someone here, until you travel beyond the shores of Africa you won't be wise enough to decipher my massage from this post.

After carefully going through all posts, I'd like to say you can't hold people against their views n opinions.

Really, everything in marriage should be reciprocal. Love, commitment, submissions, faithfulness and all that started the union.

In general, the man is usually deemed the head but by default, they're supposed to be partners.

I'm glad for the kinda person I am and the kinda person my wife is. Understanding, communication, compromising and tolerance have always been our anthem.

She's free to do whatever makes her happy at home while I am free to do mine but we know our boundaries n limits.

I've NEVER checked my wife's phone, I don't answer her calls except a close family calls.

These have been the key to a successfully union so far.

To a larger extent, men never wanted their ego to be downed by women but they forgot that to whom much is given, more is expected.
