Can you go a step further and analyse the dividend growth over a period of 5 to 10 years

Here is the data I was able to scrape from the Internet. You're better with spreadsheet, you can enter the info for us to determine the growth rates

Starting in 2019 as that is when MTN started payments

2019 2020 2021 2022
MTN N7.92 N9.4 N13.12 N15.6
GTCO. N2.80 N3 N3 N3.1
Zenith N2.80 N3 N3.1 N3.2
UBA. N1 N0.52 N1 N1.1
Okomu N4 N7 N8 N21

I watched the movie nah, Jordan and his team made mad money by cunning people into buying bad stocks, especially dead penny stocks. It has nothing to do with volatility.

Those people in the movie were not even doing any TA or FA, just be buying stocks based on recommendations from the wrong people.

To make money in the market you need to do due diligence, whether TA, FA or with luck charms.

Wolf of Wallstreet is more of comedy self, no real lessons there.

As stated, this bros no know the meaning of volatility. Maybe back in 2008 the 10% limit wasn’t a thing.

The one thing I almost never hear anyone talk about in this place is dividend growth rate! This is a secret sauce of wealth generation! Notable increases so far,

MTN 19%+

Zenith 3%+

GT 3%+

UBA 13%+

Okomu 30%+

Total 15%+

The big banks are slow with their dividend growth, but their starting yield is high! With growths like these, what you need as an investor is to be consistent with your investing and let time do the rest!

Please is anyone here using wealth.ng? What is your recent experience? Have they turned to scam? They've been ignoring me for weeks now.

They’ve always been like this, I used their service sometime in 2020. It’s a good service for beginners

Plz explain much better for we who com to learn

Volatility means sudden and unpredictable movements! Movements like Facebook dropping 25-30% in a few hours of trading! Movements like Silicon Valley dropping from $100s to pennies within a day or two!

The most our stocks can lose or gain daily is 10%, not 30, 40 or 50% like foreign stocks. But according to bros we are volatile

The Nigerian Stock market is a very volatile investment channel. It favours only the super rich that are able to buy majority shares of a company. Before you invest in the stock market, I would advise you watch the movie titled "the wolf of wall street" and understand its intricacies.

Market that daily movements up or down is capped at 10% is volatile? Are you a learner?

Does anyone know when Zenith banks and GTB will be paying their dividends?By the is time last year ,they have paid.

Dividend payment for Zenith and GT dropped on the 6th and 8th of April 2022 respectively, will definitely be late this year. But this time last year, they had not paid.

This delay is probably the fault of clueless Emefiele and his cronies at CBN.

Rome wasn't built in a day......and,
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a step.

That was a good plan if you asked me because not all are traders.
We have those who invest for passive income, so such plan is a good one in my opinion.

Even if you buy at N10, with regular cashflow and, if you're consistent and keeps increasing your stake, you'll be earning something on monthly basis I Blv. smiley

We are basically saying the same thing, so I agree with you. No one poured N15M into UCAP when it was sinking, that is not normal human behavior. People tend to build their portfolios overtime. N100k here, N200k there, at least that is how I have been able to build mine to more than N110K in monthly income

In 2020, I purchased UCAP at 2.62 Naira per share, although some individuals may have acquired it at a lower price. UCAP provided a dividend payment of 1.5 Naira per share last year. Thus, a 15 million Naira investment would result in a 8.5 million Naira return, which translates to approximately 715,000 Naira per month over 12 months. Better than working a 9 to 5 in a lot of jobs.

The question is, how many people invested 15 million in UCAP at N3? The few that did most likely sold when it hit N10 for a nice 250% return while also pocketing some juicy dividends along the way.

I now people here bought UCAP at cheap rates but there is difference between investing N500k and N15M

I bought UBA early this week @N8.20 even after the SVB news broke.
Will buy more soon.
I am a long term investor and don't allow the daily noise to disturb me.
Also checking stock prices everyday is really not necessary if u are in for the long term.
Stocks will fall and rise and rise and fall.
Planning to use most of my dividend this year to increase my UBA holding.

Personally, this is what i like to read on here. People putting money where their mouth is. Not just making noise but actually back it up with their money! Kudos bros

This is funny. Nothing dey happen to Nigerian banks. The big boys just trying to drive down the price to get the softies out of the market. Nigerian banks dey gidigba. Everytime a little bit of selling-off happens that drives the price south people always come up with all these stories of how Nigerian banks are about to suffer.

Totally agree. The funny part is if by mistake all the hysteria people are calling for materializes, and Zenith, UCAP and GTB are at N10 and N9 respectively, these people will still not buy! They will start with another chapter of hysteria that will take the prices down to N3!!!

The noise is tiring, but lets keep falling, so my dividends can buy a lot more shares

2] investors in bank are not to be protected as they take risk to invest only depositors are protected
3] tax payers will not bear losses in SVB collapse

5] The banking system is safe

Finally, as a growth and/or value investor, I will seek to align with STERLING BANK, UPDC and RED STAR EXPRESS @ current price levels.
...of course, having the necessary trade set-up.

Again, NOT to be inferred as any sought of recommendation. Due diligence still applies as always.

Selah

THanks bros, I get one small 100k. I will be putting it on Sterling. I know, not investment advice yada yada yada.

With N1.50k, it still provides a 10% return on investment based on the current price, and far better than Dangote Cement and WAPCO.

It’s not just about the yield, you have to factor in the risks too, because of this I wouldn’t say FAR better.

Also don’t forget the big banks are less risky and provide higher yield.

Nothing to gamble now.The time is coming. The market will definitely tank by nothing less than 50 percent. The market is going to be controlled by locals. No foreign portfolio will be stupid to come and invest in nse.If you are luck to catch another otedola and his likes in another scam called listed company you can join the rider Plenty of that will be happening in the future
Then when the market tanks ,you look for companies that have been consistent in dividend payments for the past 5 yrs.And based on the price ensure the dividend yield is nothing less than 15 percent of your purchase price

What is the source of your info? Can you see the future?

With this mindset, when UCAP touches N9, are you sure you won’t move the goal post to N8? The market has a way of messing with people’s minds.

Own 1-15 good companies, and continue to water them with periodic investments. This is how you invest and build wealth. Results will not be felt now, but in 10-20 years, your dividends will be huge.
