Most likely your webcam is working. Try using ekiga to test it. If it works then download cheese. Or if you have gstreamer installed then press alt+f2 and type gstreamer-properities and press enter. Look for test input. If webcam is working them you should see ur face.

About your audio files you probably lacking one lib file or the other. Try searching within synaptic for wma or codec or non-free codec or gstreamer-ugly or gstreamer-bad or gstreamer-good.

Well xandros was the brain child me corel corporation. It was supposed to revolutionize the way linux looked. But it missed it along the line. Then recently i think it had a crazy deal with linspire.
So in reality there's no big deal about it. It's just yet another linux distro

Programming / Re: Python Programming by adewaleafolabi(m): 11:16am On Mar 26, 2009
I'd prefer a standalone app, since its for a psychology experiment, but if it would be easier as a web app then a web app. But i'd still prefer a standalone app. Thanks
Programming / Re: Python Programming by adewaleafolabi(m): 6:56pm On Mar 25, 2009
Am just new to python, just learned tuples, dictionary, and list. So am way far from a pro. I need a program that would accept in images and show them sequentially, changing after a specified period of time or if the user clicks next. The program would record how long each person spent on a picture and the total time spent. Thereafter it passes the output to a text file.

Ma guy, you are preaching to the choir. I spent many sleepless nights trying to get drivers on linux for atheros cards. Especially those manufactured by dlink which coincidentally are the most widely used. At the end of the day, had to get a card with Realtek Chipset. Am using the rtl8187 driver which is well supported.

@ all

Sorry to butt in but i need a little help. Am trying to revive an old system for my cousins to experiment on. Its a PIII with 450Mhz, 64MB RAM and 6GB Hard drive. Will ubuntu 8.10 work on it ? If not, which linux distribution do you recommend putting into consideration that it will be used by kids and so will take a serious beating. grin grin grin grin

I don't believe ubuntu would run smoothly on 64mb of ram even though is the command line version unless of course you're ready to continue tweaking removing moudles etc(look at this http://kmandla./ubuntu-gtk12-remix/). What you need is linux for really old pcs. The top contenders are:

Puppy LInux
Damn Small Linux
knopix

Also look at this for more choices for old pcs http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=575456

@Bigbrovar
Howdy, how are u enjoying mint?, well for me i'd always stick with ubuntu and puppy of course. Anyway i guess i like the word ubuntu thats all.
Education / Re: Ui 2008/2009 Post Ume exams by adewaleafolabi(m): 12:02am On Sep 30, 2008
jarsofclay:

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

What really is happening to our country? At first, my main reason for chosing Ui was because I once heard any state outside Lagos is quite very cheap(food, housing, clothing) excepting PH and Abuja but now it seems the reverse is the case. I was to rent a private hostel around Ui according to the instruction of my parents so I could concentrate more on studies and be very very comfortable,

First of all, you might really end up not being comfortable. As if you intend staying off campus transporting yourself might be a mess, unless your parents would provide you with a car. Also about concentration, girl don't be fooled, staying off campus which also applies to private hostels don't help you really gain focus rather in most cases helps you loose focus. I know people who would have had better results if they lived in the hostel amongst their course mates. They simply lived alone and no one was there to warn them that they are heading straight for doom. Some realised on time and eventually ran to their friends in the hostel for help so that they wouldn't fail. My recommendation: You are an 100 Level student, you're new, live in the hostel .
