Education / Exam Malpractice: NABTEB Catches 1,394 Students by aduagbemi(m): 4:06pm On Feb 21, 2017
A total of 1, 394 out of the 45,974 candidates who sat for
the Nov/Dec, 2016 NABTEB-organised examinations were
caught over examination malpractice. Mrs Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe, the Registrar of NABTEB –
National Business and Technical Examination Board – in
Edo, gave the figure on Tuesday in Benin.
The registrar gave the figure while announcing the
release of the results of the Nov/Dec 2016 National
Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical
Certificate (NTC) examinations. Isiugo-Abanihe said that 21, 476 candidates who sat for
NBC and NTC examinations scored five credits and above,
with English Language and Mathematics. The registrar said that modalities put in place by the
board to curtail examination malpractice were still intact
to reduce the proportion. She said that NBC and NTC had multiple benefits including
serving as certificates with which to secure jobs and
means to obtain admission into tertiary institutions. Isiugi-Abanihe urged state governors to set up technical
and vocational education training centres to empower
the youth.

Family / Dear Nairalander, PLEASE! Answer This Serious Question, What Will You Do? If…. by aduagbemi(m): 4:44pm On Jan 06, 2017
Robbers enter a house, asks for all the money and
valuables. After they collect what they can, they give the man
of the house a gun with instructions to shoot his
wife or else he be shot himself. The man gets the gun, points it at his wife and
hesitates. He is thinking of what he has gone through in life
with his wife and how she has suffered and
sacrificed for him.
He hands back the gun and says, “I am sorry I can’t do this… “The boss of the robbers silently grabs the gun
from him and passes it on to the wife with the same
instruction. The wife gets the gun and without any single hesitation points to her husband’s head and pulls the trigger. But at last, the gun had no bullets in it. The robbers get their gun and walk out of the house
laughing.
**QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION*** 1. If you were the man in that house how would
you react towards your wife?
2. If you were the wife, what explanation can you
give to your husband!
3. If you were invited to bring peace between this
couples, what advice would you give?
Drop your Comments & this should really be an interesting topic to discuss as counsellors.
Religion / God ‘ll Give Buhari Solution To Nigeria’s Problem In 2017- Pastor Kumuyi by aduagbemi(m): 9:58pm On Dec 26, 2016
The General Superintendent of the Deeper Life
Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, on Sunday
said that in 2017, God would grant President
Muhammad Buhari the solution to the numerous
challenges facing the country. Kumuyi gave the assurance while speaking with
newsmen when he played host to the Speaker,
Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Mudashiru
Obasa, who led some members of the Assembly
on courtesy visit to the church’s December
Convention. The cleric said, “We talk of the hours of recession,
difficulty, distress and all that, but God is granting
us His promises. We are not going to carry over
our problems. “We pray and believe that the Lord
will answer. “As you will see, as we get to the New Year, there
is nocarryover of our problems. God will give solutions to the problems of our lives, families,
communities, the state and our nation.” The pastor said that with prayer and faith in God,
the country would get out of all its challenges,
including the economic recession. The founder of the church said that God created
‘’us and wants everything to be sufficient for
everybody.’’ Meanwhile, addressing the congregation of
thousands of worshippers, Obasa, urged all
Christians to show love to their neighbours,
adding that the state was committed to fight
unemployment among the youth. He said that the newly created Employment Trust
Fund would help reduce joblessness by providing
soft loan with little interest for enterprising people
of Lagos state. “We must go beyond religious demarcation and
show ourselves that we are brothers and sisters.
Let us love one another. We should extend hands
of fellowship to our neighbours,” the speaker
said. Obasa, who urged churches to pray for the state
and nation, said that the state was passionate to
give good governance and improve the economy
of the state for the benefit of all. He expressed delight over the warmth reception
accorded his team by the leadership of the church. NAN reports that the speaker the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Mr Muyiwa Jimoh and the
Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Mr
Dayo Saka-Fafunmi were among the team. Mrs Funmilayo Tejuosho, the Chairman, House
Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, Petitions
and Lagos State Independent Electoral
Commission among
others government functionaries also made the list. NAN reports that the four-day, nation-wide
convention, which started on Dec. 23 and
expected to end on Dec. 26, is tagged, “Power for
the Present Hour”. It is taking place at the Deeper Life Conference

Celebrities / 10 Celebrities Who Talked About Their Death Before It Happened by aduagbemi(m): 11:46pm On Dec 25, 2016
10.[ Jimi Hendrix ] :Even though Hendrix’s mainstream career only
lasted four years, it was enough to make him
arguably the greatest guitarist of all time and one of
the greatest musicians ever. He was the recipient of multiple music awards
during his lifetime and after his death. But before he
achieved enormous success with his critically
acclaimed debut album Are You Experienced?, he
recorded “The Ballad of Jimi”, a haunting tune that
fans regard as Jimi portending his own death. He sings, “Many things he would try/For he knew
soon he’d die”, “Now Jimi’s gone, he’s not alone/
His memory still lives on”, and “Five years, this he
said/He’s not gone, he’s just dead.” On September
18, 1970, five years after the recording of the song,
Hendrix died accidentally from barbiturate-related asphyxia.

9.[John Lennon] :John Lennon achieved phenomenal fame when he
was a member of the extremely popular English
rock band The Beatles, but he walked away the
music scene in 1975 to take care of his newborn
son. One might have thought Lennon wouldn’t
return, but five years later he was back and writing music. He was producing songs like he was in a hurry,
songs which would be included in his album titled
Double Fantasy. It looked like Lennon was writing
songs like crazy because he was running out of
time. And running out of time he was. One of the songs Lennon recorded was titled
“Borrowed Time”, and the lyrics read, “Living on
borrowed time, without a thought for tomorrow.”
A few months later, before the song was released
to the public, Lennon was shot and killed by a
demented man. Interviews released around the same time the song
was quoted Lennon saying he was fearful he
would be “popped off by some loony.” Now it
made sense why Lennon was so eager to get back
into the recording booth before he died.

8. [Proof] :Rappers are no strangers to fights in clubs that
quickly escalate and become out of control, but it’s
rare that a rapper can predict that he’s going to die
in a club. Proof, born DeShaun Holton, was one of
the featured rappers on hip-hop group D12’s song
“40 oz”, where he rapped, “I’m in the club to beef, you gotta murder me there.” Two years after the track’s release, Proof got
himself involved in an altercation with Kevin Bender
Jr, a 35-year-old Desert Storm veteran, supposedly
during a game of pool. Proof was most likely drunk
at the time, as an autopsy showed that his blood
alcohol level was .32, three times the legal limit. Bouncer Mario Etheridge, a cousin of Bender’s, shot
a warning shot into the air, and Proof fired back,
killing Bender. Proof was killed by another man
who shot him twice in the back and once in the
back of his head. Proof’s death was executed just
like he predicted. What’s even more startling is that two years prior, Proof appeared in the music video
for Enimen’s “Toy Soldiers” where he played a
rapper gunned down in a club.

7.[ Michael Jackson] :
Unlike others on this list, pop legend Michael
Jackson never released any songs alluding to his
death. But he had a feeling it was coming soon. As
the opening night of his comeback tour This Is It,
approached, Jackson was reported as appearing
extremely nervous and attempted to reschedule concert dates. The singer reportedly told a confidante, “It’s not
working out” and “I’m better off dead. I don’t have
anywhere left to turn. I’m done.” The same
confidante said that two hours before Jackson
died, he said he was “tired of living.” His sister La
Toya Jackson, revealed that in the months leading up to his death, Jackson constantly talked about
how he felt someone was trying to do him in. He would later be proved right as his personal
physician, Conrad Murray, was eventually charged
with involuntary manslaughter for causing
Jackson’s death.

6.[ Pete Maravich] :Pete Maravich is generally considered to be one of
the best basketball players in history. Nicknamed
“Pistol Pete”, he played shooting guard for LSU
during college and picked up numerous College
Player of the Year awards. He was also the all-time
leading NCAA Division 1 scorer, a record that is still intact to this day.He spent his professional career playing for the
Atlanta Hawks and the Utah Jazz during the 1970s,
where he was a 5-time NBA All-Star and led the
league in scoring in 1977. But something else
happened during his professional career. In 1974,
he made a comment in an interview with the Beaver County Times newspaper in which he stated, “I
don’t want to play 10 years in the NBA and die of a
heart attack at 40.” In what appeared to be a cruel twist of fate,
Maravich did die of a heart attack at the age of 40.
Despite being in seemingly good health, Maravich
had a rare heart condition that he developed after
being born without a left coronary artery.

5. [Dolla] : Atlanta rapper Dolla, born Roderick Anthony
Burton II, never lived to see the release of his debut
album. In one of the songs off his self-titled album
named Georgia Nights, the up-and-coming star
raps, “You see the rain on my window pane/
Waking up in cold sweats having dreams of going out with a bang/My poppa died by the gun, I’ll die
by the gun.”Months after the song was recorded, Dolla and
some associates of his attacked Atlanta event
promoter Aubrey Berry in an Atlanta nightclub. Just later that same month, they heckled Berry
outside a restaurant in L.A. before tailing him to his
car. Berry took out a gun and shot 21-year-old
Dolla to death four times in self-defense. Dolla really
did end up dying by the gun.

4. [TUPAC SHAKUR] :There’s more than one celebrity death that gets
shrouded in mystery due to inconclusive details
that leave fans and police wondering what really
happened. There’s also more than one conspiracy
theory involving what really happened the night
Lesane Parish Crooks (aka Tupac Shakur) was shot.In a collaboration song done with fellow rapper
Richie Rich, Tupac raps, “I been shot and murdered,
can tell you how it happened word for word.” The
song was released earlier in the year he was shot.
When he was questioned once where he saw
himself in a few years, he responded by saying, “Best case, in a cemetery. Not in a cemetery, sprinkled in ashes smoked up by
my homies. I mean, that’s the worst case.” Just two
months later, Tupac was shot in a drive-by
shooting at an intersection in Las Vegas and was
rushed to a hospital where he died six days later.
However, extremely loyal fans of Tupac believe he’s not really dead and that he faked his death and has
gone into hiding.

3.[ BOB MARLEY] :Bob Marley was many things. A singer. A guitarist. A
symbol of Jamaican culture. He stands as one of the
most successful recording artists of all time, and is
largely credited with popularizing reggae music
around the globe. According to his friends and
some of his fans he was also a psychic. Supposedly, Marley divulged the details of his death
to his close friends, which are only known to them.
One of Marley’s said friends claimed that Marley told
him he would die at the age of 36 because that was
the age Jesus died. Marley was a devoted follower
and advocate of Rastafarianism, a religious movement that was extremely popular in Jamaica
during Marley’s time, and his songs were imbued
with a sense of spirituality. In 1977 he was diagnosed with acral lentiginous
melanoma, but refused amputation of the infected
area because of religious reasons. His health
continued to deteriorate over the next few years
until the melanoma spread to his lungs and brain,
resulting in his death in May of 1981 at the age of 36.

2.[ The Notorious B.I.G] :The thought of death can unnerve lots of people.
It’s not a subject many like to talk about. But rapper
Notorious B.I.G didn’t shy away from the concept of
death; he embraced it.After all, it was one of the major themes in his debut
album Ready to Die. Christopher George Latore
Wallace, who went by stage names Notorious B.I.G,
Biggie, and Biggie Smalls, discussed his death in the
song “Suicidal Thoughts”, where he raps, “I swear
to God I feel like death is f—ing calling me.” Biggie didn’t commit suicide like the song
suggested. Instead, he was gunned down in a
drive-by in L.A. three years later in 1997. Two
weeks later his posthumous album was released,
eerily titled Life After Death.

1.[Kurt Cobain] :Kurt Cobain gets the special #1 spot on the list
because he not only predicted his death, he
predicted his life as well. At the age of 14, Kurt
Cobain told a classmate that he would become a
rich and famous musician and go out in a blaze of
glory by committing suicide. His classmate most likely thought Cobain was crazy,
but he never would have guessed Cobain would
turn out to be right all along. Kurt Cobain achieved
wealth and fame as the lead singer of the popular
grunge band Nirvana, which the media dubbed the
flagship band of Generation X with Kurt Cobain as the spokesman. He was found dead in his home on April 8, 1994
with a shotgun pointing at his chin, fulfilling the
prophecy he laid out for himself. Sources: ranker.com, Therichest,

need to urgently tackle the transmission in
adolescent. “Achieving AIDS free generation requires collective

be on deck towards eradicating the HIV pandemic,
said the State government was committed to
ensuring that 90 percent of those affected were on

Politics / REVEALED! Jonathan Did Not Concede Victory To Buhari Willingly by aduagbemi(m): 5:28pm On Dec 24, 2016
His words: ''A date was fixed and the meeting held.
Obasanjo, because of his personal relationship with
the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian
Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, invited him
to come for the meeting. ''Jonathan, surprisingly, emerged at the meeting
with Bishop David Oyedepo, Winners Chapel
General Overseer. I think there was also one
person, but I can’t remember who it was. So, the
five of them now went into a meeting.'' Martins said Jonathan was made to promise at the
meeting that he would leave power peacefully if he
didn't come out victorious. ''It is only God who knows why Obasanjo should
bring Adeboye, and why Jonathan, without
consulting Obasanjo, should bring Oyedepo. ''You can see that at that meeting, God was seated
where the decision was brokered that whoever
loses should go. ''It was only God who did it for Nigeria with the
help of these men mentioned above, so it was
therefore easy for Jonathan to concede defeat,
Meanwhile, Jonathan has said that his decision to
concede defeat to President Muhammadu Buhari
after the 2015 presidential election was based on the pursuit of achieving peace for the country and not an order from anyone.

Jokes Etc / You Won’t Believe What A Groom Was Caught Doing In Church On His Wedding Day by aduagbemi(m): 7:13pm On Dec 23, 2016
A man who was getting married to his wife during
a wedding ceremony in church has gotten many
people shocked with his demeanor. A strange video making the rounds on the internet
has gotten many people stunned and speechless. The video, both hilarious and weird shows a couple
exchanging vows in a church. The video is believed to have been shot in Kenya
and the couple, Kenyans. What got people really talking is the demeanor of
the groom who was acting up all strange as he
stood in front of his bride. The viral video of the couple who reportedly got
married over the weekend left social media
confused on why the man had to do all he did. In the hilarious footage, the pastor is seen
commanding the man and his wife. Unlike his wife
who remains calm, the man responds dramatically

Music/Radio / Olamide’s “who U Epp” Or Phyno’s “fada Fada” Which Is Way Bigger In 2016? by aduagbemi(m): 11:56am On Dec 23, 2016
These two songs were very big but one is way
bigger than the other considering the hype, trend
and publicity the song received from fans, street,
deejays and clubs.

Olamide’s freestyle song “Who U Epp” was one of the most hyped and publicized song of 2016.
Reasons are, the song had a lot of versions from
several artistes who laced their freestyles on the
empty verse of the song. The song was initially
released for a competition which two artistes
emerged winners and they got a video for a new song recorded with Olamide. Both upcoming and known artistes all recorded
their versions of the song but the one that really
got the attention of Olamide was Phyno and Wande
Coal’s freestyle which he eventually released with a
video as the official “Who U Epp” freestyle song. So
far so good the song was very big that almost every artistes wanted to be a part of it.

PHYNO

Phyno’s “Fada Fada” is unarguably one of the biggest song of 2016 without a doubt. The song
which Olamide became a national anthem on the
street and was getting massive airplay both on
radio and tv. These was actually the song that
paved way for his album because it got everyone in
anticipation for more good songs from the album. Fada Fada was able to cut across borders
irrespective of its language barriers. Just some
weeks ago, American singer Usher was video
grooving to “Fada Fada” in the club in the United
State. Credit also goes to Olamide for making the
song a hit. Their collaborations has always resulted to hit and this one didn’t fall short..

Which of these two songs do you think faired
better this year in terms of the longevity, content
and publicity?
