My school requires 25k balance on the bank statements before they can grant an admission offer. My brother who is my sponsor does not have the balance at the moment but my dad does. Will it be a problem subsequently when I fill my ds160 form and list my brother as my sponsor. ? Cos my will pay for the actual tuition. Thanks 25k or 25m? |

Hahaha, it happened to me when I first got here. I was finally told the reason. It's not like they don't understand you, you need to increase the volume of your speech. Americans almost yell, and talk loudly so you have to speak a bit louder for them to hear you. Do they try to move their ears towards you when they ask you to repeat yourself? Don't know about the city you're in sha but that's what I was told here and since then, they understand me more now. I repeat myself less now, I still have a long way to go though but it's getting better. Now they tell me "Your English is so good" as if they were expecting so little from Africans.
I'm not saying I scream till they go deaf ooooo hahahaha, I just turn the volume up a bit. I was talking to my classmate today and the guy had to ask me whether I was born in America or not. I don dey blend small small with their pronunciation and all that. He was shocked when I told him I've only been in America for 1 month. The guy no believe. Gradually, we're all going to grow into the system and blend. Try this suggestion out, I hope it works.
Again, people are different. Some people are going to understand you better and faster than the others. It's just that way and with time, the adjustment and blending will sort itself out. Always remember... Fake it till you get it. Bro please I have pm u, try to reply me as a Mata of urgency. Thanks 1 Like |

You should have applied for F2 and not B2 .. Blc if at the interview you say you are going to visit your husband or anything relating to your husband , I am sure the VO will ask why not f2 and not b2 .......
However to answer your question, People get denied everyday and reapply and get it . Most time it has little impact on your next application. You just have to demonstrate that you are a credible student for your F1 and possible home ties .....Once you can articulate that then you are fine and good to go . Pls am sorry for disturbing u, please re check ur mail for my latest transcript, just sent it tonight... Thanks 1 Like |

2nd attempt Abuja Embassy
VO: This is your second visit here. What’s new you came with? Me: Sir I came with an official letter from my current employers requesting me to come back after my studies. VO: (Gets the letter and looks at it for over 5minutes. Then gives it back to me). What do you do? Me: I work in a …. VO: How much do you earn? Me: tells him VO: Did you apply to other schools? Me: Yes… VO: mention….(and I did) VO: How did you find this school? Me: Sir, I used google search plus I have a lecturer who schooled there and recommended the schhol. VO: Who’ll pay for your trip? Me: My maternal Uncle VO: What does he do?....(He owns a contruction company and factories) VO: I’m sorry your visa cannot be…… Me: Sir, can you please tell me the reason? VO: (Looks at me for some minutes). You really want to know why? Me: yes sir VO: Its very unusual for your employers to promise you a job when you’ve not worked with them for a long time and its also unusual for an uncle to pay that much for you… Me: but sir…. VO: Next applicant window….
3rd Attempt Abuja Embassy
This is the worst VO I ever met. Looks advanced in age, very hostile. Rejected all 6 people he interviewed before me VO: you mean you’ve been rejected 2times in the last 60days. Anyway. Let me see if theres any change…(looks at the screen) What new thing did you come with? Me: sir, there’s no limit to the effort I can put in to achieve my dreams. My uncle gave me a letter stating his ability and willingness to pay. VO: I am not looking at those letters cos it might have been put up by anyone. You Nigerians are very corrupt. (gave me a rejection letter instantly) Me: (pissed off cos he didn’t give me any time nor ask any question concerning my travelling plans) sir, please can you tell me why my application was denied? VO: Looks at me and says…this is a very corrupt country,..said so many bad things…and conclude by saying….if youre really passionate about getting your higher degree, look out for other countries…next applicant window…. Me: (felt very angry and sad)…still waited till the next person came…then I left
4th attempt Abuja Embassy
VO: what’s new? Me: I am more clear and confident now than I have always been, also, I have been awarded a partial scholarship by….and I have a reference letter from my uncle who is a renowned catholic Bishop along with the data page of his passport VO: How much scholarship do you have? Me: mentions… VO: How did you get the scholarship? Me: its an annual scholarship given by….body to indigenes of our community who wishes to further their education. VO: (Types for a very long time) Do you have any document to prove? Me: No sir. Its in a text message. VO: How did you win the scholarship? Me: we all wrote an exam and those who were successful were invited to the award ceremonies VO: who’s paying for your trip? Me: my maternal uncle but my uncle who’s a renowned catholic Bishop decided to stand in as my guarantor to attest to my maternal uncle’s willingness and abilityto pay. VO: DO YOU HAVE HIS STATEMENT? Me: yes….gave it to him…a dollar bank account statement with $110,337 balance VO: (Types for a very long time again). What do you do? Me: told him VO: what is the nature of your job? how much do you earn? Me: told him…. Did you apply to other schools? Me: yes,..mentioned VO: SO why did school? Me: sir, this school offers the course of my interest. Small but diverse school with a student to faculty ratio of 16:1, I am passionate about the designs of green energy systems ……. VO: okay but I’m sorry your visa cannot be processed…… Me: sir, maybe you should have a look at the letter I came with VO: No,…next applicant window….
5th attempt LAGOS EMBASSY
I regretted why I never went to lagos from the first application. I just loved the Lagos setting. MEANWHILE, I changed my status to married. I had a marriage certificate I had prepared with stamp and everything.
VO: Where are you going to? Me: University of Bridgeport, Connecticut VO: For? Me: my masters degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering VO: What did you study in your undergrad? Me: Electrical/Electronics Engineering VO: So I’ve seen here that your school gave you an academic merit award of $3,000. Why? Me: because I had good grades in my undergraduate results VO: So why did you come here? Why not Abuja? Me: I wanted going there but the dates available in Abuja was too close to the resumption date so I had to schedule it here VO: I can see here too that you’ve changed your sponsors to your parents. Why didn’t they sponsor you at first? Me: I have a scholarship so my parents are capable to pay the rest of the expenses VO: what does your parent do? Me: my dad is a professor of music, he lectures in the university, while my mum is a lecturer in physics department in the same university VO: So do you have the prove of the scholarship? Me: yes ma..(gave her a printed mail from the scholarship body plus a scanned letter from them…the letter even stated that I have 3months to send the account details of the school I need the money to be paid to) VO: What do you do? Me: I work in a …. VO: Did you apply to other schools? Me: yes….named VO: so why this school? Me: this school offers the particular course I want to major in VO: which is? ME: Green energy systems VO: How did you find the school? Me: I used google search and applied to all the four schools I found. VO: Sorry your visa cannot be….. Me: leaves immediately
What can you suggest I do in my next application as I’ve deferred to spring? I really need to get back to school to further. Will having the money in my account atleast one month before the interview cause any positive effect? Cos from their rejections, it seems they have a serious doubt about my capability to fund my education but that’s the least problem to me cos the money is there, though not in my account or my parents’. What can you advise guys? God bless y’all Bro sorry for ur denials , what I noticed from ur transcripts is Dat first impression last longer and dose vos have capitalize on it like ur second transcript Dat vo said VO: Its very unusual for your employers to promise you a job when you’ve not worked with them for a long time and its also unusual for an uncle to pay that much for you…yes I can say d vo was right bcus dose vos are psychologist it's very unusual especially in Nigeria wia everything has turn upside-down and wia corruption is prevailing, Dia are some things u have to be careful with wen changing ur profile like issue of who is sponsoring u, dey knw Dat it's not very easy like Dat within just 60days to have another sponsorer..... Do never tink it's impossible it doesn't matter wia u com from all d Matters is wia u are going to [singing in d voice of lilkeshi] pls work harder on ur who is sponsoring and re fire, I knw and I belief with God on ur inside u are going places 3 Likes |
