chibic: Chicbic, your ethnocentrism is so transparent and boring, go somewhere with Afam, you two will make a nice cuople. You obviously have a problem comprehending standard English, and since that is the case, I won't waste any more time on you. Ofokasibe, I hope you know what it is you are getting yourself in to, |

doyin13: Lol, the question of Nollywood was not raised in this thread, Jonny! I am merely attempting to help Afam and his cohorts find a well reasoned answer ( I refer you to the first three pages of the thread) to the question he posed. Before you ask me what my point is, why don't you read the title of the thread and respond to that question? hmmn? as opposed to running your fingers to answer a question that you dreamed up, simply because you had a seemingly perfect answer in your head, yeye boy. RTO Tv, coming soon!!! |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 5:48pm On Mar 11, 2009 |
@Chibic, I do not understand your point, I only do standard or pidgin English, the hybrids tend to go over my head. @Afam, how weird is it that you asked a question and then spend 14 pages tryna prove yourself wrong, wow . Name 10 popular songs right now, then lets see how many have not Yoruba word or more in, the songs have to be circa '08-09. |
Rap Battles / Re: Afrocynic Vs Ofoka! Boredom Battle! No Retreat No Surrender by AfroCynic: 5:41pm On Mar 11, 2009 |

I don't usually battle lames but now, i am hardly sane can't complain when the boy claim he's bringing game. spit your bars, let's see where your heart's at I got bars stacked, shame a boy that blatantly can't rap. so, let's see what you got. |

I need someone worthy to battle me, I am rather bored. |

Blah, until she drops that foolish American accent she insist on using, I will not rate her. I must say that I salute her dedication to the craft going to acting school and stepping up chops, that is a good look, maybe it'll help other actors take the profession more seriously. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 12:01am On Mar 10, 2009 |
The last three posters just being silly now, sillier than Afam in fact. Afam is deluded and you last three are arrongant, y'all decide which is better. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 3:06pm On Mar 08, 2009 |
afam4eva: Lol, Afam you are really silly, I do not agree with what the guy said about Igbo not being universal, it might not be as widely used as Yoruba but the most famous African novel ever written was about Igbo culture and Nollywood is doing its best to propagate the culture. But Afam you ought to know that Yoruba is is spoken in Africa, Bahia in Brazi, Cuba and a couple of other places. So don't start flexing muscle about where Igbo is taught, I am sure if Igbo is taught at Yale, so is Yoruba, that is just the way it is. |

9jaganja: Come shay de above dey make sense to you when you finish typing it? because I no fit comprehend the point wey you dey try make. Are you saying that there is no point in trying to show that Africa is not a monolith, that there are varying cultures and people, that Africans are not blood thirsty savages? Are you saying there is no point in two young women travelling the continent, discovering new things and rediscovering old one? What is it that you are saying? |
Politics / Re: 16-yr-old Commits Suicide Over Lover by AfroCynic: 10:34pm On Mar 06, 2009 |
bilymuse: Please, nah person kill am, no be she kill herself? so why I go sorry for am? IT dey there in the holy book, taking your own life no sit right with God, you should go read your bible. |

Idiot mumu girl. Nonsense, I feel sorry for her mother and the rest of her family. |
Politics / Re: Another First From Igbo Sisters. by AfroCynic: 10:21pm On Mar 06, 2009 |
The topic of the thread is ever so foolish! I love what it is these women are doing, it is so inspiring, I am thinking I might just take a little trip through West Africa myself, I love it when African women buck the trend and do something outside the status quo. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 6:29pm On Mar 06, 2009 |
olatunji24: I think you have misunderstood the question. The thread concerns Nigerian artists, Not Awilo or Magic System, (a band that a I love, if you have not heard it, listen to 'Amoulanga') |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 3:13pm On Mar 06, 2009 |
SegzyJoe: Obviously you did not read the first page of the thread, where one tried to explain to Afam about what it is that necessitates the use of some yoruba in a lot of the songs. I mean, I think dude even forget the question he asked that started this thread off. |

Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 11:24pm On Mar 05, 2009 |
egheleghe: Err, no. My favourite naija star right now is Timaya, I think he the best because he keeps it real, you know, I love that. As for Nigerian stars singing in other languages, i am all for that, look at the title of the thread, it was not me that posited the question, it was afam and now he is mad at himself for asking the question, it's crazy. I merely answered the question he asked and now I am the villain, it's craaaaazy, Afam,, let a sister live, I answered your question, now you can keep it moving. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 9:49pm On Mar 05, 2009 |
afam4eva: Lol @ someone being an ethnocentric tribalist, abeg no be by force, if you now how to talk am, just leave the grammer be. P sqaure have had mad songs using Yoruba words, I have both their albums. As for Timaya, I just hear a song by dude called 'Iywao mi' Tuface did not have a song called 'Ole' or am I dreaming? Oh and 'Faze alone' didn't know have Yoruba in its chorus? hmmn! Never did I say one would have to make an entire song in Yoruba, I said either the chorus or some words in the verse, why does that pain Afam so much? |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 3:30pm On Mar 05, 2009 |
egheleghe: You obviously have a problem understanding English, so, enjoy. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 1:55pm On Mar 05, 2009 |
jaguda: Now, this is plumb ethnocentrism, who are the so called 'koroba' people? who exactly are you talking about, please enlighten me. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 4:40am On Mar 05, 2009 |
chiogo: Could this dude 'N!gga raw' go abroad with that name? he would not get on british or american radio with that name, forget that it is an acronym, do you think this acronym would be excusable; B-eing I-nto T-eaching C-an H-elp I think that word is insulting to any black person, that dude says it's an acronym does not convince me. Yes, I am a hip hop head, these credentials I never i have to prove to anyone. I am for good nigerian music, that reps us right, music from people who are proud of being who they are, folks who don't have to front and that is why I do not dig most naija rappers. Telling me what you did about 'Pac does not further your argument, 'Pac knew better than to have that as his MC name. It's like someone have the moniker 'African Monkey' and putting some full stop in between so they can tell you it's an acronym, what would you think? |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 10:05pm On Mar 04, 2009 |
romeo: That's good for you, but I meant name one artist who who has blown without using Yoruba either in their chorus or in verse, plain and simple. I could give a damn about some dude who wants to call himself a N!gga, that's on him. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 8:50pm On Mar 04, 2009 |
afam4eva: Lol, keep deluding yourself my love. your idea of lagos and music is coloured by your ethnocentrism, keep on. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 8:48pm On Mar 04, 2009 |
asha 80: I like D'banj, esp. the song called 'Igwe' so who cares. Saying that it is an acronym is a cop out to be honest, can a Uk cat or an American use the same acronym? No! He's is still stupid, that word is not to use as an acronym, he is foolish. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 6:39pm On Mar 04, 2009 |
asha 80: Lol, that'll teach me to read back my posting, but the point remains, that he is not igbo or igbira or whatever it is you say he is is irrelevant to me, he's hot and I like him. Now, the truth hurts you, I know but such is life, name one artist that is big, who has not used a yoruba chorus or used yoruba words in his/her song, this is the only way to refute my point. As for fool (anyone who will name himself N!gga is a fool) called N!gga raw, I do not know one person who like him or his music. Just name one! |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 6:28pm On Mar 04, 2009 |
asha 80: Lol, make a fool of myself? it is not fault you were so stupid as to imply from my statement that I think dude is Igbo, The point is that I do not care!!!!!!! Look, you and Afam are hurting because Igbo artist make songs in Yoruba, I think it's a cool thing, I will listen to any song, in any language so long as they artist keeps it naija. That is the single criterion that I have. Damn, my favourite naija rapper is 2shotz, not because he is a great lyricist but because dude keeps it strictly naija, okay? |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 6:11pm On Mar 04, 2009 |
asha 80: Neither one of these lames have blown, they might be known in the South-East but if you ain't big in the SW, you won't blow all over the county stop lying to yourself. I do not even think they will feature if we were to compile a list of top ten naija artist. I don't care if Nneji is Igbo or not, dude is nice, that Oruka song is my ish. I'll ask ten of my people, forget, i'll ask three if they'll go see either one of these dudes, for free I know what the answer'll be. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 5:39pm On Mar 04, 2009 |
afam4eva: Lagos culture is Yoruba and to deny that shows that your head is buried in the sand. There is no famous MC or singer that had blown without using some Yoruba words or having a Yoruba song, yes I stand by that. Dude, you even tried to say Lagos is semi Yoruba? huh? Lagos has its own definite swag, style and language and it most definitely Yoruba, deal with it dude. I am now going off to listen to Sunny Nneji's 'Oruka' (isn't he Igbo, hmmn, I think so!), After that, I'll listen to Ruggedy Baba (opomulero), then I'll play 'Kini big deal' my play list is getting longer. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 2:49pm On Mar 04, 2009 |
Afam, you are anti yoruba, i think, what a shame. |
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Igbo Artistes Sing In Yoruba? by AfroCynic: 1:43pm On Mar 04, 2009 |
afam4eva: Not entirely but he does mix it up with some Yoruba words, to be honest it damn near impossible for aritsts, almost everyone says certain Yoruba words, just get over it dude, no big deal. |
