mr sage: I'm a small scale business consultant and I have a couple of business ideas:

1. Turkey farming business- A Mini Turkey Farm
This is an agric bizness with a short turnaround period. You can start
this venture with a room, bq, uncompleted building or any vacant space.
The profit margin is very handsome. Turkeys mature within a few months and
they do not smell like other poultry animals. You can recoup your
investment within 6 months with a very high profit margin.
The key areas are: Feeding, Where to get supplies of young animals, pest
control, housing etc.

2. Custard Powder Production
Custard as we all know is a fast moving food product here in Nigeria.
Start up capital is low

3. Grasscutter farming
4. Meat Delivery/Supply Business. Food related and very profitable. I can
provide more info on this concept if necessary. You can supply meat to
eateries, hotels, restaurants and individuals. You can also bring in live
cows/goats from the North and sell.
5. Soap making. Soap is a fast moving consumer product and production
process is not too complex
6. Exercise Book production
7. You can set up a small bakery and expand in future. Nigerians love bread
8. You can import shoes and other fashion accessories. I know a guy that
imports male casual shoes from the Uk and he sells to wholesale buyers in
Lagos. The rate of return is very high, quick turnover is guaranteed and
the products sell fast because it meets one of the basic needs of man -
Clothing.
9. Transportation. the recent ban on commercial motorcycles in Lagos has
thrown up a huge business opportunity for smart investors who understand
the Lagos business environment.
10. Supply of corporate gift items.
11. Small scale Printing press.
12. Game lounge.

You can also consider:
Table water and pure water business
Export of agric commodities such as ginger, garlic, coacoa or charcoal.
Production of Toilet roll/ Tissue paper/Serviette. I'm doing a feasibility
study on this business right now.

i love this thread! read through all comments and i must commend you all here.

I will love to invest too, say about N300,000. dont know what exactly to go into. cos at the moment am a catfish farmer and i must tell you all the truth, for two years that i have ventured into fish farming, there is no profit in it. i rushed into it, the whole first year was lost to me, this is my second year in fish farming, though am still in the field and have catfish at the moment. but, will drop the catfish farming biz for something better. I did a feasibility study on catfish farming and realized that the farmers only make peanuts, the MAJOR gainers are the MARKET WOMEN, RETAILERS AND FEED SELLERS.

Want to invest N300,000 on a lucrative business, please good advise will be welcomed.thanks all

Hello my farmers, good day to you all. i see the way people rush into fish farming and i just laugh, and say they dont know what they do. people rush into it for money, yeah money.but, just know that if you dont do it well, you stand a chance to loose owfully.

co-farmers will tell you feed this feed that, do it like this, do it like that. farmers arent making the profit as people see's it. the MAJOR gainers in fish farming are the FEED SELLERS and RETAILERS.

I doing fish farming now, but not really get the profit i hoped for. so, i trying to channel my route to Feed destribution. like coppens, vital, multi-feed, and so on.

Am presently doing a research on it, to know the challengies involved. so, i will appreciate all help from you all here.

Please what are the necessary things i need to put in place?

@ikooko , tnx. Reputable? where in Lagos can i get good hatchery?. if am to buy fingerlings, how many weeks old to be precise?.

Though, i have made contact with a farm who agreed to come hatch for me in my farm and at a specified amount, on the ground that he will hatch and take care of the fishes after hatching for 7weeks.

My fear is that my first stocking was fingerlings, and as i speak now, they are in the 5th month and i still cant count up to a thousand that is up to 1kg. my plan is if i hatch, i may likely get about 2500 - 3000 shooters amongst the first and send set. if able to get that amount of shooters, i will stock them and sale off the remaining from the hatching.

I wait your reply, idea. or sugestions. cos i plan to stock by the middle of this week. by God Grace.
