The premier league matchday 1 is done and dusted and fans are very much excited to be back where they belong as the action returns. skyxports premier league matchday 1 review. The week 1 fixtures saw wins for Manchester united, Liverpool, Manchester city, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea. Arsenal and Unai Emery however succumbed to a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Manchester city as they begin their title defence. Premier league Matchday 1 results Manchester united 2-1 Leicester city Newcastle United 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur Huddersfield 0-3 Chelsea Bournemouth 2-0 Cardiff city Watford 2-0 Brighton Fulham 0-2 Crystal palace Wolves 2-2 Everton Southampton 0-0 Burnley Liverpool 4-0 Westham Arsenal 0-2 Manchester city The premier league matchday 1 saw a total of 10 matches, with 8 wins, 2 draws and a total of 25 goals scored in the process. The headlines however will be flooded by wins from Liverpool, Manchester city, chelsea, man utd and Tottenham. Here are your take home from the new week. Manchester united still contenders despite transfer setback Manchester united secured all three points against Leicester city despite playing second best in the fixture. The red devils were much like there old selves but didn’t have to share the points as early goal from a paul pogba penalty kick and a late scuffle from Luke shaw gave Man utd the win after surviving a nervy ending with substitute Jamie Vardy scoring late. Manchester united may seem off course with the new season just beginning, but don’t write the res devils off, they are every bit as dangerous as it gets, with jose mourinho seemingly able to do wonders with squads in similar situations. Paul pogba, Luke shaw, Eric Bailly, Andreas Pereira and Fred all impressed and have earned themselves praises from the manager. Left back Luke shaw seemed the happiest man as the defender finally opened his Manchester united career account after a rather rocky career start. Jose mourinho would be hoping his first goal will be one of many as the season continues. Tottenham Hotspur work for all three points Premier league matchday 1 review Newcastle 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur Early goal from J. Vertonghen in the 8th minutes gave spurs the lead, but only lasted 4 minutes as Newcastle’s Joselu got them back level before Dele Alli scored in the 18th minute. The scoreline however does not tell the full story as the spurs team were made to work for all three points. How long can Mauricio Pochettino carry on with his current squad after such a nonexistent summer transfer window. The manager may seem alright for now, but the clock is ticking, and when fatigue, tiredness and injury sets in, what then for the him ? Newcastle are only but a first of many encounters for the club in the long season and the manager is bound to be stretched to the limit this time. Maurizio impresses first time out Chelsea new boss Maurizio sarri and his squad put up a good display in the manager’s first official game in charge as they ran out 0-3 winners in the fixture. Goals from Ngolo Kante, P. Rodriguez and new signing Jorginho secured the blues a comfortable victory in sarri’s first game in charge. The manager would definitely be looking to improve on an already great start after identifying the defence as the team’s weak point. New signing Jorginho however seems to be enjoying every bit of his arrival at Chelsea after he opened his account against Huddersfield. Chelsea may not be what they were under mourinho and Conte in their first season in charge, but they are however, a work in progress as rightly said by the manager. Liverpool rock Westham in one-sided fixture Premier league matchday 1 review Liverpool 4-0 westham The Merseyside red started the season in blistering form as they put four past the westham goal keeper Fabianski. Jurgen klopp featured new signings Naby keita and Becker Allison alongside the prolific front three of Firmino, Mohammed salah and Sadio mane. Sadio mane and Mohammed salah opened their account for the season with salah, notching the first for Liverpool before a brace from Sadio mane in either half and a fourth from Daniel sturridge to seal the win. With stellar performances like this, Liverpool have made themselves title contenders and probably favourites to lift the trophy this season after they finish off westham who posed little or no harm to the last season champions league runner ups. Arsenal hit rock bottom despite impressive pre season display Premier league matchday 1 review arsenal 0-2 Manchester city Unai Emery and arsenal fell once more at the hands of last season champions Manchester city at the Emirates. Goals from R. Sterling and B.Silva gave Manchester city the win at the Emirates. New signing Mahrez also featured in the fixture before been substituted in the 60th minute for Kevin de bruyne. Manchester city begin their title defence with a big win while Arsenal are thrown back to the drawing board. Unai Emery will have no time to rest as his next fixture is against Maurizio sarri’s chelsea and the will be hoping to get it right their time as the manager awaits his first point as an arsenal coach. The tables is already set, with Liverpool taking top spot after thrashing westham. Chelsea follow suit in second, Manchester city are way down to 5th with Bournemouth and crystal palace in 3rd and 4th place. United, Tottenham and Everton make up the 7th, 8th and 9th respectively, with arsenal well away on 15th. source : https://skyxports.com/premier-league-matchday-1-review/ |

Both team will be without most key players, with Paul pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Jamie Vardy , Harry Maguire and a few more unlikely to feature due to their late involvement in the world cup, a number though may be out due to injury concerns including Nemanja matic, Ander Herrera, Marcus rojo, Sergio Romero and a few others for Manchester united. Tottenham Hotspur broke an unwanted record as they failed to secure a single signing in the just concluded summer transfer and are set to begin the new season the same way they finished the last one. Maurico Pochettino had said he is happy with the club, despite no new faces for the new season but how far can the Argentine go with the current squad he has at hand. Tottenham Hotspur finished third last season behind Manchester united and run away leaders Manchester city. city added a new attacking talent in Rihad mahrez and despite United's failed transfer they have new faces in Fred, dalot and Grant. Fourth placed Liverpool brought in four new players, while chelsea and arsenal signed three and five players respectively. With the additions by rivals clubs, it's most likely Tottenham would be fighting for a place in Europa league by the end of the new season. Maurico already had a taste when he lost three first team midfielders to injury in the preseason, something he is likely to experience more often in the new campaign. The manager would have to rely on the young lads for support during bad times, hoping they could deliver. Tottenham Hotspur may have succeeded in extending contracts for Harry kane, Son and a few more but fact is the club is likely to fail to challenge in the new campaign and could possibly end up as Europa league contenders by mid season. source: https://skyxports.com/how-far-can-mauricio-pochettino-and-tottenham-hotspur-go/ |

The tables have turned in chelsea’s favour as the club completed two big signings in just 24 hours and still have time for more !! Thibaut courtois finally got his £31.5m move to Real Madrid after the goal keeper went AWOL in a bid to force a move to his dream club and wow, he succeed. Chelsea deadline transfer Chelsea however won’t be worried one bit as they already have a replacement in bound. Atletico Bilbao’s 23 year old goal keeper Kepa arrizabalaga was signed by the London blues for £71.6m making him the world most expensive keeper, just few weeks after Liverpool’s Allison Becker held the same title. What a relief that must be for the manager Maurizio sarri. Chelsea deadline transfer Chelsea then went the extra mile, to get something out of Thibaut Courtois’s deal with Mateo Kovacic moving to the opposite end on a season long loan. The Croatian who reportedly rejected a bid from Manchester united after claims he was unimpressed by the playing style of the manager may yet have the time to assess them when they go head to head, with the league to kick off in hours. It’s not over yet, as reports claim the London blues may yet have to sign another, this time a winger. Manchester united are reportedly ready to break the bank to sign Willian for a sum of £80m, that’s a lot for Chelsea to reject giving the fact they just spent £71.6m on a goal keeper. Chelsea are bound to accept the deal this time, but have just a few hours to find themselves a replacement. Few hours more and Chelsea suddenly come alive in the window to put themselves back as contenders for the premier league title with the season to kick off soon. Chelsea transfer deadline moves continues in full swing and the clock is ticking. source: https://skyxports.com/chelsea-deadline-transfer-two-in-one-out-and-they-are-once-again-contenders/ |

Just a couple of days to the end of tranfer window and united are still rattling the market for a new signing. Toby alderwiereld to Manchester united has always been the big news as the defender has always been on jose mourinho’s radar for virtually all summer transfer, but have failed to strike a deal for most part of it. However their seems to be glimmer of hope this time as reports claim they have agreed a deal with the player and Tottenham Hotspur are willing to let him go only if they can secure a replacement before the deadline. Manchester united were earlier put off by Spurs asking price for the defender which was way up to £75m but a compromise has been reached and Man utd have come to terms to the club on a fee. However nothing would be made official until the club could find a replacement for Toby. Manchester united are hoping they do find a replacement in time to seal the deal but are prepared they may not as they have been exploring other options in Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng and Barcelona’s Yeri Minna who has reportedly agreed a £32m move to Everton. A deal for Jerome Boateng seems more likely though if Tottenham fail to find a replacement for Toby alderweireld in time to complete a deal. The six time bundesliga winner is said to be available for £50m and united may be willing to match the price out of desperation. Man utd may however have to live with the fact they may be done in the transfer window and may never acquire any new signing before the start of the new season, meaning jose will have to make do with what he has and hope they all rally round to make the best of their situation. source: https://skyxports.com/toby-alderweireld-to-manchester-united-hinges-on-spurs-finding-a-replacement/ |

Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea are obviously in trouble with the transfer window to shut in just three days. Sarri had after the community shield loss to city made a statement in which he opened up about Thibaut Courtois' move to Real Madrid, where he made it clear he isn't going to work with unwilling players. Well, it's quite obvious Thibaut Courtois isn't willing after the Belgian goal keeper failed to report to a face to face meeting with Maurizio Sarri. It's likely the London blues will be playing with a ghost of a player if they fail to let the goal keeper move where his heart is. That's not all though, as the likes of willian and Eden hazard remain liabilities until the window finally shut for all leagues. The brazilian winger has been one of the obvious target for Manchester united manager jose mourinho and once before Barcelona, who finally settled for Bordeaux winger Malcom. Eden hazard on the other hand is still subject to a move to Real Madrid with the Spanish giants still in the market for the winger and are willing to splash the cash this time. Chelsea may yet have quite a busy tranfer ending with Maurizio Sarri already pointing out possible replacements. Reports claim the new manager is likely to make a move for jack butland if a deal for Thibaut Courtois falls through. Another likely option for the manager is atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak but would cost the club a fortune as the goal keeper is valued at £89m by the club. Maurizio Sarri is also keen on signing Nabil Fekir who was at the brink of a move to Liverpool before failing medicals. The boss himself is in need of a move in the final days of the transfer window. ‘I think we need something, but maybe only a player,’ Sarri said. ‘We have very good midfielders, but maybe a midfielder with different characteristics would be a good fit.’ What ever happens, theirs is bound to be a chelsea transfer news update as the saga unfolds with just days to go now. Manchester united were outplayed as they succumbed to a defeat in their final pre season match before the new season and jose mourinho isn't happy at all. The manager has been out and out about the failure in the current transfer window after Manchester united Ed woodward has failed to land his desired players so far. The manager has predicted quite a difficult season for the red devils if they fail to add before the transfer window closes. "My CEO knows what I want and I still have a few days to wait and see what happens," "The other clubs who compete with us are really strong and already have fantastic teams. Or they are investing massively like Liverpool, who are buying everything and everybody." "If we don’t make our team better it will be a difficult season for us." It's obvious jose mourinho isn't happy with the current state at man utd and after failing to mount a serious challenge for the title last season despite finishing second on the league table, the manager was hoping for a different approach this time but seems to have been let down by the board and Ed woodward's failure in the transfer window. source: https://skyxports.com/jose-mourinho-on-man-utd/ |

Pep Guardiola and Manchester city win the community shield as they hand chelsea and new boss Maurizio Sarri their first loss of the new campaign all thanks to a brace from the city record breaker Sergio Aguero. The Argentine striker scored in both halves to hand the citizens their first win in the campaign and a community shield to go with it. Manchester city and Chelsea were without several players as they played out the 2-0 fixture. City were without Kevin de bruyne and raheem sterling while chelsea played without the services of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, Michy Batshuayi, Ngolo Kante or Olivier Giroud who are all absent after their late involvement in the world cup. LINE UP SUBS: Brahim Diaz, Nicolas Otamendi, Claudio Gomes, Vincent Kompany, Ederson, Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan. MANCHESTER CITY (4-3-3): Claudio Bravo; Kyle Walker, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy; Bernardo Silva, Fernandinho, Phil Foden; Riyad Mahrez, Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero SUBS: Marcin Bulka, Andreas Christensen, Davide Zappacosta, Tammy Abraham, Daniel Drinkwater, Victor Moses, Willian. CHELSEA (4-3-3): Willy Caballero; Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz, Marcos Alonso; Cesc Fabregas, Jorginho, Ross Barkley; Pedro, Callum Hudson-Odio, Alvaro Morata. Manchester city were in control at the beginning of the fixture as they needed only 13 minutes to score their first goal for the new campaign. Aguero took a pass from Foden, set himself up nicely for the shot with his first touch and buries the second into the bottom corner from the top of the penalty area to score his 200th goal for Manchester city. City however looked more nullified after their first goal with rihad Mahrez hitting the wall from a freekick while Bernado Silva and Leroy sane could only get close. Chelsea had a few chances of their own coming from a Cesc fabregas free kick and a shot from Alvaro morata. The game was however sealed in the second half as Sergio Aguero squeezed in a wonderfully worked move after been played through by Bernado Silva for his 201st goal. The striker would have been on a hat trick but was denied by Willy caballero who did well to get down and parry a well struck volley from the striker. City held on to ensure chelsea didn't get as little as a breather to win the game by two goals in their first statement for the new campaign. STATS No Manchester City player has scored more goals at Wembley Stadium than Sergio Aguero. The last four editions of the Community Shield have been won by reigning FA Cup champions, with Manchester United in 2013 the last reigning league champion to do so, Up until now it seems. Chelsea have lost each of their last three games against Manchester City – they haven’t lost three in succession against them since September 2010. “Yes,” was Klopp’s direct answer to Sky Sports when quizzed on whether he expected business in or out. Following a 5-0 pummelling of Napoli in Liverpool preseason preparation, The manager Jurgen klopp hinted at a possible deadline day business which is just in days. Liverpool were the second busiest club in the top six after arsenal who secured five new players in the summer. New signings Naby keita, Fabinho, Xhordan shaqiri and Allison becker have all featured so far in the preseason and yet the manager may want some more ? When asked about any transfer in the remaining days of the transfer window, klopp simply replied. “We will see what happens,” “I cannot kill your D-day show, people sit there in front of the television all day waiting.” “If any player from my team is available, then in every other situation in my life as a manager I would have bought all of them, to be honest.” “They are all fantastic boys, they are able to play fantastic football.” Liverpool are surely going to be a joy to watch in the new season, with a promise of attacking and exciting football with what they have and a hope of more to come on deadline day. The Merseyside red may yet lit the premier league like the good old days. Source: https://skyxports.com/i-cannot-kill-your-d-day-klopp-drops-hint-on-liverpool-deadline-transfer-business/ |

Man utd transfer news updates: jose mourinho to make one final attempt to land chelsea winger Willian before the transferwindow finally shuts Manchester united have been in and out with their desire to secure the services of the Brazilian and Chelsea winger Willian. After much battle with Barcelona, the Catalans ended up securing the services of Bordeaux forward Malcom for £41m, leaving man utd to the chase. However man utd have failed woefully in any attempt to lure the winger to old Trafford so far. The brazilian reported late to training, raising speculations he was trying to force a move away from the club but has so far seemed set to stay with Maurizio Sarri reportedly holding a one on one talk with the player. Reports however claim jose mourinho is willing to take one last chance with a bid for the winger just days to go in the transfer window. The boss is reportedly keen on a exchange with chelsea just like they did with arsenal over Mhkitaryan and Alexis Sanchez. Rumours claim jose is willing to offer Anthony Martial as part of the deal but that seems unlikely with united keen on keeping the young talent. If the manager is looking to involve in an exchange then he would have to look elsewhere. United are however hoping to complete at least one signing before the windows finally shuts and the season gets underway. With jurgen klopp’s heavy summer spending , can the German get liverpool back to their rightful place among the greats of modern football like they once were. Jurgen klopp and Liverpool have had a wonderful preseason preparation so far as they ready themselves for the new season, much can’t be said about some of their rivals though. Man utd finally got a 90 minutes win against real Madrid and city were beaten by the reds in their first fixture. But can the anfield reds carry their form into the new season ? Jurgen klopp led Liverpool to their first champions league finals in many years and in the process got the board behind him with summer spending an evidence of their happiness on the job so far. Few hours after losing to real madrid at kyiv, Liverpool secured the services of AS Monaco’s Fabinho, more were to follow as they also signed Xhordan shaqiri, Naby keita obviously and a replacement for karius in Becker Allison. Liverpool are all but set to challenge for the new season, but can jurgen klopp make it happen ? The manager is as clueless as Mauricio Pochettino when it comes to trophies in the premier league. If Liverpool can’t return to their former glory with such a good squad and confidence to go with it then they may never ever return. Can jurgen klopp take Liverpool to the next level Jose mourinho may be taken as the loud mouth but he wasn’t wrong when he mentioned the responsibilities that follows such spending spree. Manchester city pep guardiola spent in similar fashion last summer and ended up justifying himself for such spending. Will the German justify his ? Liverpool have had the advantage with most first players available for the pre season. The likes of Mohammed salah, Sadio mane and most of the new signings have all been involved in the premier and should be better acquainted with the club and the managers style of play before the season finally kicks off. Last season saw the Merseyside reds finish fourth, with Manchester city, united and Tottenham all finishing above them. This season however, after such spending, the board as well fans would be expecting the manager and his squad to challenge for the trophy. But will they ? source: https://skyxports.com/will-liverpool-carry-preseason-form-to-new-season/ |

Toby alderweireld to Manchester united seems to be a done deal as reports claim Daniel levy and Ed woodward have finally come to an agreement over the sale of the player Manchester seems to have finally completed a fourth signing in the final week of the transfer window. United have been interested in signing the Belgian and spurs center back for the majority of the transfer window but failed to strike an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs were holding out for a fee of around £75m which united were obviously unwilling to meet and then failed yet again in an attempt to sign England’s Harry Maguire from Leicester city. However, reports coming in says that both clubs have finally reached an agreement and that the deal will now proceed. Ed woodward and Daniel levy reportedly meet at London and seems to have found a common ground for the signing of alderweireld. Toby is said to have also agreed personal terms with the club and is expected to have medicals this week before the transfer window finally shuts. Fans are however still paranoid that the transfer could be hijacked as they await an official announcement from Manchester united to all but make the deal official. Chelsea are unwilling to let Thibaut Courtois go as they continue to derail real madrid £40m bid Despite Thibaut Courtois making it clear he wants a move to real madrid, Chelsea are still unwilling to do business with the Spanish giants for the £40m rated goal keeper. Thibaut Courtois’s contract expires next summer, which would see him leave the club for free if he fails to sign a new contract. Chelsea are hoping to make a bit more than just £40m selling the player and are holding out for more. Courtois’s agent has pleaded with the club to let the player complete his dream move to Real Madrid. “I have been reading everywhere that Chelsea are saying it is up to Thibaut, but he has made it clear to the club that the best option for him is to move to Madrid.” Maurizio Sarri in a statement stated he hopes the Belgian goal keeper stays at the club, but also stated his future to either stay or leave depends on the club and more especially on him but his agents thinks otherwise and that the club are just playing hard ball with Real Madrid for more money for the Belgian keeper Source: https://skyxports.com/thibaut-courtois-unsettled-over-stalled-real-madrid-move/ |

The transfer window isn’t closed yet, but the last season premier league conqueror Mohammed Salah seems to have opted to remain at the anfield of Liverpool despite attracting interests from the top dogs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Psg. The Egyptian star was in top form last season as he single handedly led Liverpool to the Champions League Finals where they were eventually beaten by Real Madrid . The forward finished as highest goal scorer in the league last season breaking multiple records in the process and putting his name as a prospective world best player as his future continues to unfold. The biggest question however is whether the last season star could repeat the feat he managed last season or is he just a one season wonder ? The forward has started well with Liverpool in the preseason and seems to have over come his horror moment with Sergio Ramos at the champions league finals which ended with him leaving the pitch earlier than expected. Salah has already opened his account of the preseason with a goal against Manchester city just moments after coming on. The prospect of watching the Egyptian play again is enticing enough for fans to wish the premier league could kick off in earnest and Liverpool fans are daring the forward to make a run for the ballon d’or this time. Mohammed salah and Liverpool definitely have better chances this season that they did in the previous with new signings Naby keita, Xhordan shaqiri, Becker Allison and Fabinho all bonding well with the team. Even for the Egyptian it’s a big challenge to repeat the feat he managed last season but the Liverpool faithfuls believe he can. Do you ? skyxports |

Arsenal and Arsene wenger were dealt a big blow by the ever resilient Atletico Madrid forward Antonio griezman who has been on the radar of multiple clubs for a while including Barcelona, PSG, Manchester united and a host of others as they played out a 1-1 draw despite atletico been handed a red card in just 9 minutes of the Europa league semi finals first leg at the Emirates. The fixture started with arsenal spurning chances after chances in just few minutes from the kick off, with lacazette missing a great ball after been found by welbeck. Atletico despite been on the back foot were dealt another blow as they were soon a man down with just nine minutes played when VRSALJKO was sent off after a foul on lacazette. You definitely won't blame Diego simeone for protesting on this one though. However the red card stood and the game carried on with arsenal failing to score despite creating one chance after the other but just couldn't put one past the atletico goalie "Oblak" as the first half ended a stalemate with arsenal in the driving seat. Arsenal however took the lead in the second half through lacazette after a mistake by the Madrid no 7 "Griezman" on the edge of his box was picked up and wilshere found the french man "Lacazette" who rose beyond his marker to head home for a goal. Arsenal kept on pilling the pressure but just like it took nine minutes to punish atletico, they returned the favour, With just nine minutes left on the clock, Welbeck was dispossessed and a wonderful long ball found "Antonio griezman" who was onside, the french man's first shot was stopped by ospina but the arsenal defence had no answer for the second as Atletico drew the match and are now at an advantage with the second leg to be played back in Spain. MATCH STATS AND PLAYER RATINGS Arsenal (4-3-3): Ospina 6.5; Bellerin 7.5, Mustafi 6.5, Koscielny 6.5, Monreal 7.5, Ramsey 7, Xhaka 7.5, Wilshere 8.5, Welbeck 7, Ozil 7.5, Lacazette 8 Subs not used: Cech, Holding, Iwobi, Chambers, Maitland-Niles, Kolasinac, Nketiah Goals: Lacazette 61 Manager: Arsene Wenger Atletico Madrid (4-4-2): Oblak 8; Vrsaljko 3, Gimenez 8, Godin 9, Lucas 6.5; Correa 7 (Savic 7.5), Saul 7.5, Thomas 7.5, Koke 7, Gameiro 6.5 (Gabi 6.5), Griezmann 7.5 Subs not used: Werner, Torres, Costa, Vitolo, Olabe del Amo Goals: Griezmann 82 Red cards: Vrsaljko Manager: Diego Simeone 6 Referee: Clement Turpin 7 Att: 59,066 Despite Arsenal's attacking display and chances creating in front of their home fans they still managed to waste it all, despite having all opportunity to put the game to bed. Atletico however will be happy with what they have done, playing with ten men for over 80 minutes and yet stealing a point away from home. They will be hoping to finish off what they started as they host Arsenal in the reverse fixture. Arsene wenger must present a better and more clinical team against the deadly atletico if he is to every have that trophy farewell he so much wants. The UEFA champions league is back again and fans can't wait for the kick off tonight at anfield as Liverpool welcome Roma for the competitions semi final first leg. Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah It's been grueling so far and both teams have proven by making it here that they have what it takes to go all the way and win the trophy. Liverpool laid waste of Manchester city in their bid to make in into the semi's winning both legs (3-0), (1-2) to leave the helpless citizens road side as they continue their much anticipated journey. Roma on the other hand made a surprising comeback at the expense of the Spain giants Barcelona as they overturned a 3 goal deficit from a first leg which they lost (1-4) to the Catalans to go through with the second leg ending (3-0) much to the fans dismay. Roma celebrate winning Barcelona in ucl quarter finals Tonight however, it doesn't matter who you had played or what you have done to get here. But what you can do to go through and both teams seem to have it in excess. While Roma would do well to be worried of Liverpool front three consisting of Sadio mane, Firmino and that man of the moment Mohamed Salah, who recently put to bag the PFA men's award. Salah have been in excellent form this season and if Liverpool are to go through his former club Roma to the finals, it would be through this man. Roma however are not without star man and former city striker Edin Dzeko who sent Barca to extinction in the quarter finals. Liverpool take on Roma at anfield in ucl semi first leg Both teams are evenly match with the semi's soon to kick off, but we all know that only a team can go through. But who has that extra edge, who can make that little difference to put the team through. https://skyxports.com/liverpool-vs-roma-champions-league-semi-finals/ |

While most would say otherwise, the real issue would have been if pep didn't deliver with the kind of buy, signings and money spent on the previous transfer. Pep made acquisitions virtually at his every desire and not winning the league would have been nothing but a total failure City are a success but never close to elite as city still crashed out from the champions league at the hands of Liverpool, a team whose transfer was nothing far from boring. Lost to a struggling Manchester united, struggled against Burnley at some point amongst others. The fact city won the league with five matches left is nothing out of the ordinary. Except for the carelessness of Manchester united players, city would have been just about ten points or less from second place. Very much similar to what Raineri did with a collection of scraps now stars at Leicester, That's extraordinary. It's every bit right to say raineri did the same job guardiola did without spend over 400m in two seasons. City winning the trophy is only so much recognized because of the calibre of a coach PEP is. Extraordinary is going unbeaten for a whole season, finishing with maximum points, avoiding a lose for a whole season and so on. Leicester won the league with only three loses and if city can be called extraordinary, then so can they, But they aren't. Why ? Because they are Leicester city. Pep and guardiola this season have simply been overrated, not because they weren't good or didn't merit the trophy. No, but because a great team goes just further than that. Something city are yet to understand. https://skyxports.com/manchester-city-and-pep-guardiola-2/ |

Manchester City finally claim the premier league title as second placed Manchester United lost against a relegated west bromwich Albion. A single goal from Jay Rodriguez in the second half was enough to end all hope to delay the citizens long enough to win the trophy. The citizens dispatched Tottenham Hotspur in fixture which ended 1-3 to city's win. However, United handed the trophy to the citizens on a platter of gold with a lose at home to West Brom. Pep guardiola had said he would rather play golf other than watch United play, time well spent I'd say. The city coach must be happy with himself. Manchester United now turn their attention to next season, to challenge for the trophy once more, with Jose saying they won't spend more than necessary come the transfer window. Congratulations Manchester City on winning the premier league, A job well done to city and Josep. https://skyxports.com/manchester-city-win-the-premier-league/ |

It's funny how it sounds but the actually fact is Olivier Giroud's move from arsenal to Chelsea for a chance at better football is simply like trading one Europa league team for another. Olivier Giroud and arsenal were relegated from the champions league to the Europa league in the previous campaign while Chelsea were way off finishing the season with the league trophy, few months later, Oliver Giroud makes a switch from the north London red to the London blues and surprisingly the blue fall from the champions league pecking order to the Europa league and Giroud back to the dreaded Europa league once more. It's like a never ending loop he just can't escape. The striker however inspired a comeback for his new club as he scored twice to help Chelsea over turn a two goal deficit to a 2-3 victory, match in which Eden Hazard also score. The striker had several motivational words for the players. Yeah, obviously I was waiting for it - I tried so many times to put the ball in the back of the net.” “When I came on, I said to Eden to keep believing. I didn’t tell him we were going to score, but I believed after the first goal we scored. It’s very nice for the team.” Nice words from the striker who still believes his team could make it to the top four before the season ends. Definitely not impossible but a lot too difficult for a team way off the nearest team in the top four. Giroud just has to accept the fact he will be returning to the very competition he was so much trying to run away from. It's a shame destiny found its way back to him though. Pep Guardiola has had the most difficult few weeks in which he saw his team crash out of the champions league at the hands of Liverpool (1-5 agg), fail to win a title winning match despite leading by two goals at half time against city rivals Manchester United. While Manchester City and pep remain on course to winning the league, the last few days has shown pep cannot deal with a little pressure. In the past few days guardiola has seemingly been unlike himself, voicing out words and attacking managers all in the bid to take the Lim light away from his recent failures. First pep involved himself in mind games with the ever ready Jose mourinho when he proclaim pogba and myhkitaryan were offered to him, an issue he failed to bring up until he was to face the red devil's, pep lost and so did his team. And as if that wasn't enough the manager voiced out at the constant use of long balls against his team, leading to his team losing against Liverpool and united. It's funny because football has long balls as one of its technique, so why the complaint by guardiola. He wasn't done yet as he voiced out again. This time at the decision taken about the use of VAR in the premier league next season “I think Manchester City agreed to it but the other top teams, #MUFC and Chelsea, didn’t want it.” : Pep guardiola The real Madrid coach zidane has also in recent interview voiced out his anger towards the city coach in which he said. I had moments where I should have argued with the referees but I didnt, what guardiola has to say does not interest me because we went through and won the champion league. : Zidane on guardiola's UEFA preferential treatment on real. While guardiola is no doubt a great coach, it's an awful way to manage anger and pressure even for a coach of his calibre, making enemies of everyone's and anyone's success. A trait not previously known to fans about the manager. https://skyxports.com/pep-guardiola-and-city-issue/ |

Recent look at statistics show how the career path of pep guardiola and possible suggestions the current city manager is so scared of failure, he tends to only stay when success is all but assured and where he has little or no pressure. While many will say pep has brought success to every team he has been to, the statistics show pep may not do the same should he have been in the similar positions to other managers such as Jose is doing with Manchester United currently. Pep guardiola career path has seen him travel from Barcelona to Bayern Munich and now Manchester City. One thing each of these teams have in common during the era of pep is the u injection of resources and lack of pressure or need to perform. Unlike his counter part Jose who has seen success at Porto, inter Milan, real Madrid, Chelsea and bow currently at united. Pep guided Barcelona to champions league glory during a time when Barcelona where neither in dare need for performance and seemingly left when the position became too heated to handle, he then moved to Bayern Munich and despite the injection of resource failed to muster a Champions league finals performance, a failure which pushed him to seeking greener pastures at Manchester City at a time the citizens were ready to inject as much as possible to secure a little success. While most would bite jose for spending, pep has spent over a billion in just three about 3 teams. The most recently his total over haul of city's defence, spending over 270m on a defence which still remains the teams biggest flaw. It's no argument that hose would do a better job with the defensive options guardiola has. Since taking over city, pep has spent an average of about 50m on a single player also considering he has bought over ten players in his two seasons including Walker, bravo, Ederson, laporte, Johnstones, mendy, gundogan, Kevin De byrune, Gabriel Jesus, nolito, Leroy sane, danilo. Jose however has only seen the likes of Paul pogba, Henrick(exchanged for alexis), Bailley, nemanja matic, lukaku and Zlatan Come in since taking over. Maybe is a little harsh to call the manager a gold digger but it's what the stats show. https://skyxports.com/pep-a-gold-digger/ WHAT DO YOU THINK ? |

The rift between Paul pogba and his manager Jose mourinho is nothing new to the world. In recent weeks reports from all over claims the tension between these two has gotten to a critical stage which could lead to Paul leaving for the France capital in the summer. Man Utd and Jose however say otherwise. Manager Jose mourinho is known for his his figure. A manager who deals with his problems the hard but who also listens and understand. Paul is great player, a one of kind midfielder but his inability to learn and adapt to certain Co fiction is a problem he has to look into. Look at lingers for example. A wing made midfielder and defender countless times and yet have never failed to answer when ever called upon by his manager. Paul needs to do the same, defensive, central or attacking Paul needs to show his passion by wielding the play like a stranger he is. He doesn’t always have to be at the left to be the best, he simply has to be himself and that is what great players do. Paul however have been in scintillating form for national side as he scored and assisted one in his last outing at the international friendlies. Manchester United could be hoping he could return for the league games in such form as they seek to all but secure their second place finish and possibly add an league cup trophy to the list. https://skyxports.com/paul-pogba-needs-to-learn/ |
