Kathmandu, Nepal (CNN)—Rescue crews and residents in Nepal early Sunday began the desperate search for survivors after a magnitude-7.8 quake near the capital of Kathmandu a day earlier flattened homes, buildings and temples, causing widespread damage across the region and killing more than 1,900 people. Whole streets and squares in the capital of more than 1 million people were covered in rubble. Stunned residents stared at temples that were once part of their daily lives and now were reduced to nothing. Locals and tourists ferreted through mounds of debris in search of survivors. "But if you look at the spread of the earthquake a lot of the rural areas have been hit as well. National Chairman, All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun Leaders of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday failed to reach a decision on the zoning of political offices. They met at the Rivers State Governors’ Lodge at Asokoro, Abuja, all through Wednesday night and the early hours of Thursday. The leaders however adjourned the meeting after considering the party’s performance in the last general elections as well as the way forward for this week’s re-run in Abia, Imo and Taraba states. It was learnt that they felt more that consultations were needed before a final decision could be taken on position sharing. A highly placed member of the party, who spoke to The PUNCH about the meeting, explained that the APC leadership was only being meticulous. The member, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the issues discussed at the meeting , said, “We have to be careful in dealing with such sensitive issues because we must carry everybody along to eliminate the possibility of having aggrieved members, who could be used by our opponents. “If you remember, the President-elect, (Muhammadu Buhari) has promised to be the President of those who voted for and against him and even those who did not vote. And in keeping with this promise, we want to come up with what is fair to all like we have done so far. We may meet again today(Thursday) or tomorrow(Friday).” The PUNCH however gathered that the APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, was mandated to meet with the serving and elected lawmakers of the party to feel their pulse on the zoning of the principal offices in the National Assembly. The meeting, which was scheduled for Thursday, was postponed due to an undisclosed reason. When contacted by one of our correspondents, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Lai Mohammed, said, “Like I told you yesterday (Wednesday), our leaders only met to discuss party issues, there was no National Working Committee or National Executive Council meeting. “When we hold such a meeting, we will let you know.” The APC leaders at the meeting were the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari; the Vice- President-elect, Yemi Osinbajo; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; and a former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Others were a former National Chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, Ogbonnaya Onu, Publisher of Leadership Newspaper, Sam Nda- Isaiah; the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Rochas Okorocha; Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi; Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al- Makura; and Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole. The Chairman, Senate Committee on Millennium Development Goals, Ali Ndume, and the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance in Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, made surprise appearances at the national secretariat venue of the meeting. Ndume, who is among those being tipped for a leadership position in the incoming 8th Senate, held a closed-door meeting with some leaders of the party. He later told journalists that the North-East, where he comes from, was seeking the highest available office in the Senate. The lawmaker added that as genuine party members, they were prepared to abide by whatever decision the party arrived at on the matter. He said, “Anything that is given to us will be okay. We have contributed so much as a zone. We even prefer to be given the best but we know that the best cannot be given to all. “For instance, we prefer to be given even the Presidency but that has been given to another zone and the vice- president also to another zone. “The party is considering all these and we are pushing our case. It is left for the party to decide what is in the best interest of the country, which is what the party stands for.” It was not clear why Otti was at the venue of the meeting with the leaders of the APC but insiders believed his visit was to consolidate on a working relationship he had developed with the APC. Meanwhile, a member of National Executive Council of the APC told one of our correspondents that the South-East would not produce any principal officers in the Buhari administration. The NEC member said the inability of the region to produce a senator or a member of the House of Representatives in the April 11 elections shut out the zone from producing any principal officer. The NEC member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, explained that the idea of picking a Peoples Democratic Party senator-elect or House of Representatives-elect as a principal officer was impossible. He said, “The national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Tinubu, has gone to the US. He will also be in London. If Senator Chris Ngige had won his election into the Senate, he would have been an automatic candidate for the Senate presidency. “There’s no way a PDP senator or federal lawmaker would be selected for any of the principal posts, which include the Senate presidency, deputy Senate presidency, speaker and deputy speaker. You cannot be a Senate President or speaker if you are not a ranking member of the leading party in the House.”

Clark, made the remarks while addressing journalists in Abuja, yesterday. The Elder statesman said that there was no basis for him to collapse and die because President Goodluck Jonathan lost the election against the backdrop that the the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who contested the election and lost, had conceded victory and congratulated Buhari who won at the polls. It would be recalled that the Ijaw leader was a very strong supporter of President Jonathan for his re- election bid where he engaged in massive campaign, received supporters, groups, organisations, all in favour of the PDP Presidential candidate, just as he advocated for true Nigeria, unity and equality of all tribes, zones. Clark who urged Nigerians to stop engaging in what he termed, false rumour, however stressed the need for all to cooperate with the incoming government in-order to move the country forward. He said, “We must forget what was said against one another during the elections and move forward. Jonathan was the one that contested the election and has conceded defeat, so, why should I die because Jonathan lost. “You can see me here today talking to you, hail and hearty. I think it is unfair for people to begin to carry rumour that I collapsed and died after the result of the Presidential election was announced”.

If I am to carry out a survey on this topic I believe many will say NO and disagree that there isn't any need to apologize to your Ex after breakup or after a long time since you both are no more together,but I’m going to buck the trend and say that, YES, if you’re doing it for the right reasons, you should apologize to an ex,even if many years have passed.
Am going to do justice to state why some might think isn't necessary to apologize and why I think you should apologize:

YOU MIGHT BE OPENING AN OLD WOUND.
Some might think/believe if I apologize I am only opening an old wound, but I doubt it. If what you did hurt someone, my guess is if they still harbor bad feelings about what you did, the wound never truly closed anyway and in anothér sense you might open an ‘old’ wound, there’s also a chance you’ll end up healing an old wound, and your apology may well be what the wronged party needs. Many times when you hurt someone, what they really want is for you to acknowledge the pain caused; when you fail to do that, chances are you’ve caused damage to that person. What you’ve said in the past is, “you’re pain doesn’t exist, I didn’t see why I should say sorry.” By letting that person see you are sorry and that you have also suffered at the hands of your own actions, you are telling them they were not alone in their pain.

Your apology may instigate some lingering questions, answer them and let the other party have their closure too. An apology isn’t about you unleashing the words ‘I’m sorry’, and wiping your hands clean of the situation.

See gbege ooo!!! Who cares? You did something crappy to another human being, you can afford to lose a little face over it. Chances are they had their ego dented more than you did. At the end of the day you cannot control their reaction, just as much as they couldn’t control yours when you were set on hurting their feelings. If they react badly or call you names, or even worse, ignore your apology altogether; that’s the price you pay for hurting another person. An apology isn’t supposed to be easy, it’s not about you, and you’re getting a pretty fair trade.


THE BUT I WASN’T THE ONLY GUILTY PARTY SYNDROME
Have this at the back of your mind that each day you grow older and not younger,you no more the kid you were some years back,the earlier you stop point accusing finger and stop finding faults the better. I once dated a girl who I would say was a runs girl or do I say serial cheater,even though I was the wrong party who was emotional abusive,I still had to apologize for what I did and the ways I acted out. I had every right to argue her behavior was the reason for my inflicting pain, but ultimately I’m a grown young man with prospects and I’m the one responsible for how I act. Although I said sorry and I never got an apology back, but it did help me to close the door on a bad relationship.

NOTE:
An apology has nothing to do with you and everything to do with the person you hurt. Yes, you might lose some guilt from doing it, but that is not the point. Some times many may give you reason not to apologize,you know what? so many apologies are done incorrectly and for weak reasons. When giving an apology you should not expect to be forgiven. There’s a chance that what you did hurt your ex bad enough that they are not at a place to give forgiveness. Or maybe life hasn’t given them an opportunity to heal in the same way you have and they can’t find it in their heart to forgive you. That is their prerogative and chances are the hurt you caused is greater than the guilt you feel. But you never know. Saying sorry could be a big step in them finding their healing. Never give excuses for why you did what you did. No one cares why, even if they are the ones asking. The main point is you’ve grown and you’re owning up to it, in the end your words mean little if your actions don’t reflect what you say. If you claim to have learnt your lessons, be sure that your behavor in life correlates to that and you are not just repeating old mistakes. Otherwise it’s better your apology is left unsaid.

If you read what he actually said....he said that fuel can come down to N40 if all the refineries were working AT full capacity....not a minimal capacity.(and even then we may still need some new refineries.).
