Davido is a strong member of the Aiye confraternity, a close source to the singer revealed to Nigeria, in Benin city, yesterday.

A very sad news for us, Nigerians! Super Eagles and Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme has been diagnosed with acute leukaemia, his club has announced.

The 31-year-old Nigerian international goalkeeper returned some abnormal blood tests during his preseason testing, and will now start an immediate course of chemotherapy.

The gunman who was shooting at Bronx Lebanon Hospital is a Nigerian & he is dead (PHOTO)

A fired doctor of family medicine shot seven people, killing one, before taking his own life at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center Friday afternoon.

The gunman was wielding a rifle and killed a woman, authorities said. Six others were hit, five of them receiving serious wounds, according to authorities.

A witness told CBS2’s Valerie Castro one of the victims was a doctor who had been shot in the hand. Authorities said another victim was hit in the leg.

The gunman was identified as Dr. Henry Bello. He brought a rifle into the hospital underneath a white lab coat.

Bello was fired from the hospital for harassing and employee, sources said. He searched for the employee before opening fire, according to sources.

The gunman opened fire on the 16th and 17th floors at around 2:55 p.m., Police Commissioner James O’Neill said.

The hospital’s fire alarm system went off during the incident after Bello apparently tried to set himself on fire.

Former Super Eagles striker Daniel Amokachi has set his sights on representing Nigeria at the forthcoming Stars Sixes tournament in July.

The player popularly referred to as "The Bull" represented Nigeria 44 times in a nine-year Super Eagles career - earning his debut in 1990, appearing at two FIFA world cup finals.

Stars Sixes is a six-a-side tournament for retired internationals set to take place at the 02 Arena from 13 to 16 July. Nigeria has been drawn into Group B alongside Brazil, Italy and China.

It will be an opportunity for the Nigerian team to rekindle past battles against the Italian and Brazilian legends, some of who they traded tackles against at the 1994 FIFA world cup and Atalanta 1996 Olympics football event.

Nigeria’s Anne-Marie Imafidon, 27, will be decorated by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II with the prestigious honour of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) on May 19.


The 27-year old whose father is from Edo State in Nigeria will be honoured for her services to young women with speciality in Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

An MBE is an award given by the Queen to an individual for outstanding service to the community or local hands-on service.

Part of her contributions includes founding Stemettes, a social enterprise which inspires the next generation of women into pursuing careers in STEM in 2013.

The enterprise which has attracted over 7000 young women from across the UK, Ireland and Europe has the objective to break barriers women who pursue a career in the field face.

Stemettes which also grants awards to young women has programs workshops and events designed to introduce young women to STEM careers, concepts, and role models.

Anne-Marie holds the record of being the youngest girl to ever pass two GCSE examinations for Mathematics and Information Technology and A-level computing at the age of 11 in Britain.

Due to her high exceptional brilliance, she received a British Scholarship to study Mathematics at John Hopkins University at the age of 13 in 2003.

At 15, in 2005, she started a degree program at the University of Oxford.

At 17, she started a master’s degree at Oxford University graduating at 19 in June 2010.

Imafidon who became the youngest ever graduate with a master’s degree speaks six languages and has worked with Goldman Sachs, Hewlett-Packard, Deutsche Bank, and Lehman Brothers.

She is the older of the Imafidon children who have been dubbed ‘the smartest family in Britain’ as her younger siblings have equally broken records in Mathematics and sports.

Imafidon’s rather unique achievements at a young age have stood her out as a person to watch out for by the British press.

She was named on Evening Standard’s list of ’25 under 25s’ and a Guardian ‘Top 10 women in tech you need to know’.

The Indegenious People of Biafra, IPOB, has named and honored the governor of Ekiti state Ayodele Fayose the governor of Biafra.

This was made known to newsmen (PUNCH), through its statement issued and signed by its media and publicity secretary Emma Powerful.

Report holds it that Gov. Fayose was honoured in respect to his courage depicted during Nnamdi Kanu’s trial and circumstances that led to his bail.

However, the statement reads thus, “We also acknowledge the immense contributions of the honorary Biafran Gov. Ayodele Fayose who did what no south-east or south-south governor had the courage to do,” the statement read.

Boxing fans were proclaiming Anthony Joshua the new Muhammad Ali after a picture of their two most famous knockouts were circulated side by side on social media.

Joshua stopped heavyweight legend Wladimir Klitschko in the eleventh round thanks in part to an explosive uppercut.
