Health / Understanding The Power Of Commitment In Relationships by auogbet: 12:54pm On Jan 05, 2016
Commitment connotes the act of pledging to do something or getting obligated to someone or something. When it is applied to relationships, it means devoting both your love and your life to your partner and ensuring that your relationship with them works. When you make a decision to be committed to someone, you give the person total attention and place them above everyone else.

Commitment is driven by the resolve to give and to receive. It involves making compromises, effective communication and the readiness to endure rough patches with your significant other. Commitment isn’t always a smooth phenomenon. It can be scary and fraught with unpredictability. The very unpredictable and obligatory nature of commitment makes a lot of people to run away from it out of fear and uncertainty. The element of commitment that scares people most is its un-changeability and permanent nature. People develop cold feet at the prospect of committing their life, resources, emotions, and entire being to one person.

Commitment propels you to undertake activities that will lubricate the relationship and keep it moving smoothly. Commitment is intelligible both with married and unmarried couples. Commitment is diametrically antithetical to selfishness and insensitivity. Once you get into the zone of commitment, you quit thinking about yourself alone and start thinking for you and your partner by default. You suddenly come to the realization that anything you do is capable of impacting on your partner. Commitment makes you to abhor outrageous and opprobrious actions and encourages you to undertake outstanding and satisfactory activities.

Family / How To Tell If Your Child Is Suffering From Attention Deficit Disorder by auogbet: 10:30am On Jan 04, 2016
There are a myriad of misunderstandings associated with attention deficit disorder (ADD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). However both conditions can adversely affect people of all ages and they sure can mess up the academic and everyday functions of people who suffer from both conditions. Both conditions are complicated brain based disorders that are generally misunderstood and misdiagnosed in people of all races, ages and social status.

Attention deficit disorder is simply the inability of a child or adult to focus attention. Children afflicted with this condition often have glaring challenges with keeping pace and paying attention long enough to understand and perform any given task. This condition often proliferate other problems such as low self-esteem and poor academic performance. The most glaring trait of attention deficit disorder is erratic behavior.

Suffice to say that certain behaviors exhibited by children could be as a result of developmental and environment factors and not necessarily attention deficit disorder. In other words there are certain normal aspects of a child’s pattern of behavior that may look like symptoms of attention deficit disorder during their formative years. For example, a child who has irregular sleeping hours and other sleeping disorders at night might have challenges paying attention at school in the daytime.

Family / When You Hear That Your Husband Is Somewhere Spending His Salary On Prostitutes by auogbet: 10:21am On Jan 04, 2016
It has been generally argued that men cheat because of loneliness in their relationship or marriage, affirmation from “the other woman, and not enough attention at home. When your partner shows up without their wedding ring or suddenly stops wearing it and makes lame excuses as to why you should know that he may be seeing someone else. This also goes for jewelry you might have purchased for them and you catch them not wearing it when they go out when usually they wear it at all the time. But when you actually confirm that he is doing it and does not even attempt to hide it, it can be very depressing and worrisome. My photo of the day is a priceless facial reaction that could be likened to that of a lady who is familiar with her husband’s philandering and who has gotten a call that he is at it again.

Politics / What If Biafra Becomes A Reality? by auogbet: 6:03pm On Jan 02, 2016
Biafra was a secessionist state in south-eastern Nigeria that existed from 30 May 1967 to 15 January 1970. It took its name from the Bight of Biafra. The inhabitants were mostly the Igbo people who led the secession due to economic, ethnic, cultural and religious tensions among the various peoples of Nigeria. The creation of the new state that was pushing for recognition was among the causes of the Nigerian Civil War. Biafra represented nationalist aspirations of the Igbo people, whose leadership felt they could no longer coexist with the Northern-dominated federal government. The conflict resulted from political, economic, ethnic, cultural and religious tensions which preceded Britain’s formal decolonization of Nigeria from 1960–1963. Immediate causes of the war in 1966 included a military coup, a counter-coup, and persecution of Igbo living in Northern Nigeria. Control over oil production in the Niger Delta also played a vital strategic role.

Over the years, the tensions between the Igbo speaking parts of South –Eastern Nigeria and the federal government have refused to abate. Many sons and daughters of Igbo extraction believe that they have not been fairly treated in the Nigerian experiment. The 2015 presidential elections which produced Muhammadu Buhari as president, have further heightened these tensions. There is no gainsaying that the Igbo people voted massively against this denouement because they preferred a continuation of a Goodluck Jonathan presidency. To underscore the resentment of those who are not at home with a Buhari leadership a new organization known as Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) was formed by Nnamdi Kanu, a Nigerian immigrant based in England. Kanu, among other things established Radio Biafra through which he and his lieutenants broadcast strong messages of dissent and sometimes hate against Nigeria and her leadership. Radio Biafra they said is dedicated to the defense of rights of the indigenous people of Biafra and ultimately the actualization of the Republic of Biafra.

Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in Lagos recently and has not been able to fulfil his bail conditions. His incarceration has led to demonstrations in some parts of eastern Nigeria and selected parts of the diaspora. The current agitations bring a couple of questions to mind. What If Biafra succeeded? What are the far reaching consequences of the actualization of a Republic of Biafra? Will an Independent Biafran state be a better deal for Ndigbo? Is secession really what Ndigbo need? Are there other possible solutions to these tensions?

I am of the firm belief that any set of people should have the right to decide whether they want to remain part of any union or not. Therefore, the people of South-East Nigeria have the right to decide whether they want to remain part of Nigeria or not. But before they exercise that right, they need to be sure that it is overtly necessary. Ndigbo are by far some of the most blessed and industrious people in this country. The problem is that Igbo people are asking for what they already have. It is erroneous and misleading to think that what Ndigbo actually need is an independent republic. Ndigbo already have a geographical territory known an Eastern Nigeria or what is now known as the South-East geopolitical zone. Except in the military era, the South East has always been governed by Igbo governors and represented in the national assembly by Igbo people. This is the same situation with the other regions or geo-political zones.

Health / How To Adjust Your Lifestyle In Order To Combat Lupus Disease by auogbet: 5:52pm On Jan 02, 2016
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system, for inexplicable reasons, becomes hyperactive and attacks normal tissue. These attacks produce inflammation and other symptoms. People who suffer from this disease are usually diagnosed with a series of strange abnormalities such as swollen fingers, memory loss, tiredness and painful joints.

Lupus is a disease that has the capacity to take its victims through physical and psychology trauma. Most often lupus constrains it's victims to experience heart failure. It is often difficult to diagnose lupus because it has the attributes or symptoms of many other diseases. To this end it is possible to misconstrue or misdiagnose lupus as arthritis, anemia or arthralgia. Lupus weighs down on the nervous system, the skin, joints and vital organs. Lupus can affect different parts of the body, depending on the stage of the disease.

There are some signs or symptoms to look out for before the disease becomes life threatening. Such signs include, joint pains, arthritis, fever, fatigue, skin rashes, anemia, kidney inflammation, chest pains, hair loss, mouth ulcers and seizures. Some experts believe that environmental and genetic factors may cause lupus. The key to finding a cure to this disease is to ascertain what caused it. Your treatment will depend on how severe symptoms are, whether organs are involved, and if your daily life is affected.

While medications can't cure lupus, they can control symptoms -- and possibly prevent organ damage. Today, physicians treat lupus using a wide variety of medicines, ranging in strength from mild to extremely strong. Prescribed medications will usually change during a person’s lifetime with lupus. However, it can take months—sometimes years—before your health care team finds just the right combination of medicines to keep your lupus symptoms under control. Good nutrition is important to keeping your body fueled and strong during lupus treatments.

Nairaland / General / Should A Wife Confront Her Husband’s Girlfriend? by auogbet: 2:19pm On Jun 27, 2015
It could be emotionally devastating to discover that your husband is having extramarital affairs with another woman. It is also natural for the wife to want to confront the other woman whether out of anger, vendetta, curiosity or the psychological need to let out some verbalized frustration. Suffice to say that the cheating spouse, which in this case is the husband, is the one who betrayed the union by breaking his commitment and he should be held accountable for his actions. At the same time it is expedient to say that the girlfriend is an equal partaker in this deceit and should also be held accountable for her Ignoble role.

Incidentally, while confronting her may go a long way to provide some temporary respite, it will not in any way resolve the problem permanently. The way the girlfriend will respond during the confrontation may be diametrically different from her demeanour after she had had ample time to sit back and reflect on what was said to her during the verbal vents. Most girlfriends confronted by their boyfriend’s spouses will initially be defensive; but their defensive attitude will lapse into a much more sober mood when the rantings and ravings have long elapsed.

Nairaland / General / VIDEO: Spider Emerging From Banana That You Are About To Eat Is Your Worst Night by auogbet: 10:09pm On Jun 20, 2015
Most people have heard that you swallow 8 spiders a year in your sleep. Thankfully that ‘fact’ isn’t true at all, but it still makes most people squeamish. The same is true with this video in which a spider emerges from a banana like some sort of alien. The video captures the terrifying moment the spider bursts out of the banana. As camera focuses in on fruit, it's clear there's something inside Then a hole is made, and chillingly, two legs poke out After some more cutting is done, a spider tumbles out on its back.

Nairaland / General / Comic Video Of Drunk Raccoon Found In Beer Warehouse by auogbet: 9:58pm On Jun 20, 2015
This video doesn’t have much of a back story or explanation, but that doesn’t matter. What does matter is that the cameraman was in some sort of warehouse containing cases and cases of beer and liquor when he found a raccoon slowly stumbling around near a broken box of booze. It only takes a moment for the witnesses to connect the dots and realize that the raccoon was drunk!

Religion / Bizarre Video Of Pastor Stepping His Foot On The Tummy Of Pregnant Woman by auogbet: 3:44am On Jun 04, 2015
This is just downright scary! The bible says they will lay hands on the sick and they shall recover, no part of the bible says to lay your feet on people. But this pastor seems to believe in transferring the anointing with his feet.

Kindly watch and share this video with your contacts on Facebook and other social media. Thanks. Also endeavor to leave your comments and feedback on this video.

Jesus served The People, including washing the feet of His disciples. He did not throw His weight around or engage in any unwholesome showmanship during his healing sessions. I'm getting really worked up about the way some believer's even allow themselves to be assaulted. This is bizarre and very unusual. A pregnant woman! Why not just confess the Word of God. Isn't that enough? Jesus didn't go to this extreme

Kindly watch and share this video with your contacts on Facebook and other social media. Thanks. Also endeavor to leave your comments and feedback on this video.

Crime / VIDEO: Yet Another Lady Stripped Naked In Downtown Nairobi For Wearing A Skimpy by auogbet: 3:36am On Jun 04, 2015
Hundreds of activists recently marched in Kenya's capital, Nairobi to denounce the recurrent stripping of women by taxi operators and street urchins after several incidents were captured on video and shared on social media.

The protesters chanting "My Dress, My Choice” were miffed by the spate of violent street attacks in Kenya targeting women for wearing mini-skirts and clothing seen by many as being too skimpy. The attacks, some of which were caught on grainy cell-phone videos and widely circulated over social media, have sparked outrage in Kenya, and recalled similar incidents in neighboring Uganda, which passed an anti-pornography law last December that was widely seen as banning miniskirts.

In spite of the protest and outrage by Kenyans on this trend, another lady was molested and stripped again in downtown Nairobi for wearing a skimpy dress. Kindly watch and share this video with your contacts on Facebook and other social media. Thanks. Also endeavor to leave your comments and feedback on this video.

He then took President Jacob Zuma’s son Edward to task for his recent comments about foreigners.

“Your own son continues to say these people must be killed. You stand up here and say nothing,” Malema said.
