1.......Dajjal 2....... And when you (Muslims) travel in the land, there is no sin on you if you shorten your Salat (prayer) if you fear that the disbelievers may attack you, verily, the disbelievers are ever unto you open enemies. (An-Nisa 4:101) When you (O Messenger Muhammad Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) are among them, and lead them in As-Salat (the prayer), let one party of them stand up [in Salat (prayer)] with you taking their arms with them; when they finish their prostrations, let them take their positions in the rear and let the other party come up which has not yet prayed, and let them pray with you taking all the precautions and bearing arms. Those who disbelieve wish, if you were negligent of your arms and your baggage, to attack you in a single rush, but there is no sin on you if you put away your arms because of the inconvenience of rain or because you are ill, but take every precaution for yourselves. Verily, Allah has prepared a humiliating torment for the disbelievers. (An-Nisa 4:102) 3........ The expiation for breaking an oath is to set free a slave, or to feed or clothe ten poor persons. Whoever cannot do any of those things should fast for three days, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Allaah will not punish you for what is unintentional in your oaths, but He will punish you for your deliberate oaths; for its expiation (a deliberate oath) feed ten Masaakeen (poor persons), on a scale of the average of that with which you feed your own families, or clothe them or manumit a slave. But whosoever cannot afford (that), then he should fast for three days. That is the expiation for the oaths when you have sworn. And protect your oaths (i.e. do not swear much). Thus Allaah makes clear to you His Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) that you may be grateful” [al-Maa'idah 5:89] 4........Prophet Yunus ibn matta 5........ The angels who do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image, they are the angels who go round with mercy, blessings and prayers for forgiveness. With regard to the recording angels, they enter every house and never leave the sons of Adam under any circumstances, because they are enjoined to list and record their deeds. |

Wizeboy: 1.....We pray so that we can be established so that It reminds us of our God every-time and so that we are not engrossed in this world that we forget our purpose of life. It strengthens our Faith and comforts us. It's a sort of regular reminder for us and also a source of food for our soul. Just as we need food to satisfy our physical needs Islam teaches us to pray and worship sincerely to get the food for our souls. That is, inner peace and tranquility. Also It's much more than just a personal act of worship, It's far more than that. It has political and social implications as well. Which can be manifested in the weekly gathering of the Jumma prayers. In which all Muslims gather in a grand mosque and the issues of the Muslim society are to be discussed in the sermon. 2......... 1) Walk on the right side and not in the middle of any street or pathway. 2) Do not walk with pride. 3) Walk in a manner that is not too fast or slow. 4) If someone is stood in the way, do not walk to the person too close, but move so that you do not cause the person any problems. 5) Do not walk in between women but walk on the side. 6) Do not make noise with your shoes when walking as this seeks attention and Beloved Rasool Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam disliked it. 7) If you are talking to someone then move to one side and do not stand in the way. Keep the gaze lowered whilst walking. 9) When you hear tha adhan stop, reply and then walk on. 3..... 1- We should speak only if we our speech will be good and beneficial. We should remember the famous saying, “If you do not have anything good to say, don't say anything at all.” Imams Bukhari and Muslim reported that the prophet (S.A.W.) said, “Whosoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say good or remain silent.” 2-We should be truthful when we speak and refrain from lying: The believer should always tell the truth, and he should never lie even if when he is joking around. Imams Bukhari and Muslim reported that the prophet (S.A.W.) said, "You must speak the truth for the truth leads to virtue and virtue leads to Paradise . One, who always speaks the truth and means the truth, is recorded as truthful with Allah. Keep away from the lie for the lie leads to evil and evil leads to the Hell Fire and one who continually tells a lie and intends to lie is recorded with Allah as a liar.” 3- We should refrain from using bad language or cursing at all times: Never use bad language, even if you are serious or just kidding around, because Allah hates the disobedient, and He hates the one who curses. Disobedient talk includes bad-mouthing others, and cursing. For this reason, the prophet (S.A.W.) warned us in an authentic hadith that , “The believer does not accuse, curse others, disobey Allah, nor bad-mouth others.” and in another authentic hadith , “The curse of a Muslim is a sign of disobedience.” Not only are we prohibited from cursing at the living, but we are also forbidden to curse at the dead. The prophet (S.A.W.) forbade us when he said; “Do not curse the dead; they will get it for what they had done (in this life)” and the prophet even (S.A.W.) ordered us in another hadith to, "Mention the good things about the dead.” 4- We should refrain from Gheebah or backbiting Gheebah means to talk about someone behind their back in a manner that he/she would dislike. Allah (S.W.T) says in Surat Al-Hujurat, in what could be translated as, "And do not backbite one another." Furthermore, we should refrain from Nameemah , which means spreading around rumors that would cause conflict among people. In fact, the prophet said in an authentic hadith , "He who makes Namimah does not enter Paradise .” And when someone is committing Gheebah or Nameemah, then we should stop listening to them, because if we keep listening, then we will share their sins. 5- We should refrain from swearing by the name of Allah unless it is absolutely necessary . Allah (S.W.T.) says in surat Al-Baqarah, what can be translated as, “And do not make Allah's (Name) an excuse in your oaths.” (Verse 224) 6- We should speak about matters within our knowledge and expertise : If you do not know what you are talking about, then remain silent. Allah (S.W.T.) says in surat Al-Isra'a, what can be translated as, “And do not follow [ say] that of which you have no knowledge.” (Verse 36) 7- We should not speak about matters that we hear about, without investigation: We always hear things from others that may not be so truthful or accurate, and some people talk about things even when they are doubtful. So in order to avoid sharing their sins, you should not speak without making sure that what people are saying is true. The prophet (S.A.W.) warns us in an authentic hadith, “It is enough sin a person commits when he talks about everything he hears.” 8- We should make sure that our goals from our speech should be to find the truth. We should not worry about how or who reveals the truth; just make sure that someone reveals the truth in the end. 9- We should refrain from involvement in senseless arguments in which the sole purpose is to put down others and to show superiority: Aimless arguments are signs of misguidance. (We seek refuge with Allah from it). For this reason, the prophet (S.A.W.) warned us in an authentic hadith reported by Imam At-Tirmithi, "A people did not get misguided after Allah had guided them, but they were aimlessly argumentative. 4............... Golden isnad is the strongest chain of transmitters of the hadiths we have in islam. isnād, (from Arabic sanad , “support”), in Islam, a list of authorities who have transmitted a report ( ḥadīth ) of a statement, action, or approbation of Muhammad, one of his Companions (Ṣaḥābah), or of a later authority ( tabīʿ ); its reliability determines the validity of a ḥadīth. The isnād precedes the actual text ( matn) and takes the form, “It has been related to me by A on the authority of B on the authority of C on the authority of D (usually a Companion of the Prophet) that Muhammad said.…” During Muhammad’s lifetime and after his death, ḥadīth s were usually quoted by his Companions and contemporaries and were not prefaced by isnād s; only after a generation or two (c. AD 700) did the isnād appear to enhance the weight of its text. In the 2nd century AH (after AD 720), when the example of the Prophet as embodied in ḥadīth —rather than local custom as developed in Muslim communities—was established as the norm ( sunnah) for an Islamic way of life, a wholesale creation of ḥadīth s, all “substantiated” by elaborate isnād s, resulted. Since ḥadīth s were the basis of virtually all Islamic scholarship, especially Qurʾānic exegesis (tafsīr) and legal theory (fiqh), Muslim scholars had to determine scientifically which of them were authentic. This was done by a careful scrutiny of the isnād s, rating each ḥadīth according to the completeness of its chain of transmitters and the reliability and orthodoxy of its authorities ( see ʿilm al-ḥadīth ). Early compilations of the most reliable ḥadīth s (known as musnads) were even arranged by isnād ; that is, classified according to the Companion of Muhammad to whom they were attributed. Most notable of these was the musnad of Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal (d. 855), incorporating about 29,000 traditions. Musnad s proved difficult to use efficiently, however, and later compilations, known as muṣannaf, grouped ḥadīth s according to subject matter. 5................ i)Hanafi ii)Maliki iii)Shaafi iv)Hanbali |

Sissie: 1.....Iddah is a period in which a woman waits after the death of her husband or divorce. She is not allowed during this period. 1b..... Iddah of birth:This happens when a woman divorce or or her husband died.In this case, she must wait until she delivers her child before she can remarry. Iddah of menses:Woman is not allowed to marry if she lose or divorce her husband until she has done three different menstrual cycles. It ends at the end of the third period. Iddah of months:It applies to woman who has passed the age of menstruation. It is three months for the waiting periods. 2....... A Muslim who wishes to divorce his wife is therefore advised in the first instance to ask for an arbitration meeting, arranged by elders of the couple so that a reconciliation may be reached. If such efforts fail and the man sincerely thinks he cannot live a harmonious life with his wife, he may divorce her either verbally or in writing. In both cases, it is recommended for there to be two witnesses present on the occasion of the pronouncement of such a divorce. A man should : (a) divorce only once and (b) only during the time when his wife is not on her menses and (c) there has been no sexual contact with her since the time of her last menses. After a divorce is pronounced by a husband, his wife must wait for a given period (‘iddat’). During this period, the wife is allowed to stay in the same house, but they can not have sexual relation amongst them. The man is allowed to take her back either verbally saying “I TAKE YOU BACK “, or physically, by having intimate relation with her. if, after this waiting period, the husband fails to take his wife back, then the wife is completely divorced, and must leave the matrimonial home immediately. It is also recommended to have two witnesses present in the case, where the husband decides to take back (‘ruju’) his wife, before the end of the iddat.Where a man has pronounced three divorces, on three different occasions, he can neither take back his former wife, nor remarry her. The Council issues a divorce certificate on the basis of “talaq nama”, signed by the applicant in the presence of two witnesses. The man is required to pay the dower amount in full to the woman. 3.............. A...... Khadīja b. Khuwaylid (d. 620) . Before her famous marriage to the Prophet Muhammad, she was an important figure in her own right, being a successful merchant and one of the elite figures of Mecca. She played a central role in supporting and propagating the new faith of Islam and has the distinction of being the first Muslim. As the Prophet Muhammad himself is believed to have said in a hadith preserved in Sahih Muslim: “God Almighty never granted me anyone better in this life than her. She accepted me when people rejected me; she believed in me when people doubted me; she shared her wealth with me when people deprived me; and God granted me children only through her.” Indeed, another of the most important women of early Islam, Fāṭima al-Zahrā’, was the daughter of the Prophet by Khadīja and it is only through Fāṭima (especially through her two sons, al-Hasan and al-Husayn) that the lineage of the Prophet Muhammad is preserved. These facts make Fāṭima and her mother Khadīja among the most revered female personages in Islamic history. B.......Nusayba b. Ka‘b al-Anṣārīyya (d. 634) She was also known as Umm ‘Ammara, she was a member of the Banū Najjār tribe and one of the earliest converts to Islam in Medina. As a Companion of the Prophet Muhammad, there were many virtues attributed to her. She is most remembered, however, for taking part in the Battle of Uhud (625), in which she carried sword and shield and fought against the Meccans. She shielded the Prophet Muhammad from enemies during the battle and even sustained several lance wounds and arrows as she cast herself in front of him to protect him. It is said that after she sustained her twelfth wound, she fell unconscious and the first question she asked when she awoke (a day later in Medina) was “did the Prophet survive?” a testament to her loyalty and commitment to the new faith. C.........Khawla b. al-Azwar (d. 639) . She was anothercontemporary of the Prophet Muhammad. She is best known for her participation in the Battle of Yarmuk (636) against the Byzantines. According to later narratives of the Islamic conquests, authors described her as having the skill and fighting ability of the famed Muslim general Khālid ibn al-Walīd. There are a lot of embellishments and unclear details that emerge from later sources about her which make the details questionable, leading some scholars to doubt whether she had even existed at all! Despite these reservations, it is nonetheless notable that scholars such as al-Azdi, writing in the eighth and ninth centuries, in his “Futuh al- Sham” (a work often incorrectly attributed to al- Waqidi) and later chroniclers such as Ibn Kathir and al-Zirkali found it necessary to ascribe such importance to a female warrior in the conquests. Indeed, if she never existed at all this makes her legend all the more interesting D........... ‘Ā’isha b. Abī Bakr (d. 678) . A figure that requires almost no introduction, ‘Ā’isha was the wife of the Prophet Muhammad who had perhaps the most influence on the Muslim community after his death. She played a central role in the political opposition to the third and fourth caliphs Uthmān ibn ‘Affān and ‘Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib, even leading an army against the latter at Basra in 656. Although she retired from political life after her defeat, she continued to play a major role as a transmitter of Islamic teachings. She is one of the major narrators of hadith in the Sunni tradition. In many ways, she is among the most interesting (and controversial) figures in early Islam, especially since the implications of her actions for women’s participation in scholarship, political life, and the public sphere clashed with later conservative conceptions of the role of women. E.........Zaynab b. ‘Alī (d. 681) . She was the grand- daughter of the Prophet Muhammad through his daughter Fāṭima (d. 633) and her husband ‘Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib (d. 661). She was a leading figure of the Ahl al-Bayt (Family of the Prophet) during the late seventh century and played a central role both during and after the Massacre at Karbala (680), where her brother al-Ḥusayn ibn ‘Alī, and 72 of her nephews and other brothers were killed by the Umayyads. For a time, she was the effective leader of the Ahl al-Bayt and served as the primary defender of the cause of her brother, al- Ḥusayn. At Kufa, she defended her nephew—‘Alī ibn al-Ḥusayn (d. 712)—from certain death by the governor of the city and, when presented to the Yazīd ibn Mu‘āwiya at Damascus, gave such an impassioned and forceful speech in the royal court that the caliph was convinced by his advisers to release her and the prisoners taken at Karbala. Her strength, patience, and wisdom makes her one of the most important women in early Islam. Her shrine at Damascus remains a major place of visitation by both Sunnis and Shi’is, a fact that emphasizes the universality of her legacy among Muslims. |

Known for his beautiful voice, Bilal became the first muezzin (caller to prayer) in Islam, chosen by Muhammad himself . Umm Ayman (d. 650 ) Umm Ayman , also known as Barakah, was an enslaved Ethiopian who was emancipated and became a renowned companion of the Prophet Muhammad . She was one of the few individuals who closely knew the Prophet from his birth until his death . Among the earliest converts to Islam , she participated in the battle of Uhud, caring and tending for the wounded. Ubada ibn as -Samit ( d. 654) An early companion of the Prophet Muhammad , Ubada was one of the earliest converts to Islam in Medina and participated in all the major battles of the Prophet , including Badr and Uhud. Later , he became a successful commander of the Rashidun army and served under the Rashidun caliphs Abu Bakr and Umar. He was one of the main field commanders during the Muslim conquest of Egypt . Abu Dharr His full name was Jundab bin Junadah from the Tribe of Ghifar. In the era of Ignorance, the Ghifari tribe was known for banditry and alcohol consumption besides worshiping idols. Abu Dharr, however, turned away from these tribal norms even before embracing Islam. After meeting the Prophet (PBUH), Abu Dharr accepted Islam. He went to the Ka'bah to publicly declare his faith in which Quraysh proceeded to beat him. After days of persecutions, Prophet (PBUH) told him to go back to his tribe, so he could declare his message to them. He later migrated to Al-Madinah and participated in battle of Badr and other expeditions. Ayman bin 'Ubayd Ayman's roots were Abyssinian through his mother. He was born through the union of his mother Barakah, a woman who was eventually freed from slavery by the Prophet (PBUH) and his father 'Ubayd bin Zayd. Ayman embraced Islam in Mecca and made migration to Al-Madinah. He was a shepherd and was entrusted by the Prophet to look after his goats. Ayman was a participant in the campaigns to defend Islam. At the battle of Hunayn when some of the Muslims became panicked, Ayman was one of eight Muslims who stood by the Prophet and defended him. The Muslims ended up winning the battle. In the process, Ayman achieved martyrdom. 2.......Abu Sulayman Khalid Ibn al-Walid Ibn al-Mughirah Makhzumi(R.A) 3.......Hudhayfah Ibn Al-Yaman(R.A) 4........Ummu Abdullah(R.A) 5..... 2 A.H |

B. Explain the treaty of hudaibiyyah
The Treaty of Hudaibiyyah
The Muslims camped at Hudaibiyah, ten miles
from Mecca. An envoy was sent to the Meccans
to obtain-their permission for visiting the Ka'bah
but it was rejected. Instead, the Meccans
collected a force to prevent the Muslims from
entering Mecca. The Quraish sent Budayl of the
tribe of Khuza'ah, to tell the Prophet that he was
not allowed to visit the Ka'bah. The Prophet said
that he had not gone there to fight but to
perform the pilgrimage.
The Muslims took a pledge on the hands of the
Prophet, known as "Bay'atur-Ridhwan", to stand
by him to the last. Referring to this pledge, the
Qu'ran says:
"Indeed God was well pleased with the believers
when they swore allegiance to thee under the
tree, and He knew what was in their hearts, so He
sent down tranquility on them and rewarded them
with a near victory" (Qur'an, 48:18)
After considerable difficulty, a treaty was
ultimately signed with Suhayl ibn 'Amr, Quraish's
envoy, on the following terms reproduced in
almost all the Arab Chronicles:
i. The Muslims should return to Medina that
year without performing the pilgrimage.
ii. They could return the next year but their stay
should not exceed three days.
iii.The Muslims should not bring any arms with
them except sheathed swords.
iv. There would be no war between the Quraish
and the Muslims for ten years.
v. Muslims residing in Mecca would not be
allowed to migrate to Medina, but if any Muslim
wanted to settle in Mecca, he should not be
prevented from doing so.
vi. Any idolater or Meccan Muslim migrating to
Medina without the permission of his clan will be
sent back to Mecca, but a Muslim of Medina
going back to Mecca without permission will not
be allowed to return.
vii.Any tribe in Arabia will be free to join any of
the parties to the pact, and the allies also will be
bound by this treaty. |

DonMaxxy:Oga,the high rate of the erosion in the state is an open secret..I'm not the type that readily accept any news without concrete and logical reasons.. ask yourself this, why is it that now the country and the nation are broke that the state govt is doing this? I'm sure if it is for the masses or for the state to be more industrialised, it would have been agog in the news!!! |

Sissie: 1a....Juwayriyya bint al-Harith 1b.....1/5th is respectively assigned to Allah,His messenger, his near relatives, the orphans, the poor and the wayfarers according to: Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 41: And know that whatever thing you gain, a fifth of it is for Allah and for the Apostle and for the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, if you believe in Allah and in that which We revealed to Our servant, on the day of distinction, the day on which the two parties met; and Allah has power over all things. (English - Shakir) via iQuran OR And know that whatever of war-booty that you may gain, verily one-fifth (1/5th) of it is assigned to Allah, and to the Messenger, and to the near relatives [of the Messenger (Muhammad SAW)], (and also) the orphans, Al-Masakin (the poor) and the wayfarer, if you have believed in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our slave (Muhammad SAW) on the Day of criterion (between right and wrong), the Day when the two forces met (the battle of Badr) - And Allah is Able to do all things. 1c.....The Jewish tribe of Bani An-Nadir 2a....These rights include: (a) The obligation of obedience. Allaah has made the man a qawwaam (protector and maintainer) of the woman by commanding, directing and taking care of her, just as guardians take care of their charges, by virtue of the physical and mental faculties that Allaah has given only to men and the financial obligations that He has enjoined upon them. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allaah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means” [al-Nisaa’ 4:34] ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah said, narrating from Ibn ‘Abbaas: “Men are the protectors and maintainers of women” means, they are in charge of them, i.e., she should obey him in matters of obedience that Allaah has enjoined upon her, and obey him by treating his family well and taking care of his wealth. This was the view of Muqaatil, al-Saddi and al-Dahhaak.(Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 1/492) (b) Making herself available to her husband. One of the rights that the husband has over his wife is that he should be able to enjoy her (physically). If he marries a woman and she is able to have intercourse, she is obliged to submit herself to him according to the contract, if he asks her. That is after he gives her the immediate mahr, and gives her some time – two or three days, if she asks for that – to sort herself out, because that is something that she needs, and because that is not too long and is customary. If a wife refuses to respond to her husband’s request for intercourse, she has done something haraam and has committed a major sin, unless she has a valid shar’i excuse such as menses, obligatory fasting, sickness, etc. It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘When a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses, and he went to sleep angry with her, the angels will curse her until morning.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3065; Muslim, 1436) (c) Not admitting anyone whom the husband dislikes. One of the rights that the husband has over his wife is that she should not permit anyone whom he dislikes to enter his house. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “It is not permitted for a woman to fast when her husband is present without his permission, or to admit anyone into his house without his permission. And whatever she spends (in charity) of his wealth without his consent, ….” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4899; Muslim, 1026) It was narrated from Sulaymaan ibn ‘Amr ibn al-Ahwas: my father told me that he was present at the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hujjat al-Wadaa’) with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He [the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)] praised and glorified Allaah, then he preached a sermon and said: “Treat women kindly, for they are prisoners and you have no other power over them than that, if they are guilty of open lewdness, then refuse to share their beds, and hit them, but not severely. But if they return to obedience, (then) do not seek means (of annoyance) against them. You have rights over your women and your women have rights over you. Your rights over your women are that they should not let anyone whom you dislike sit on your bed and they should not let anyone whom you dislike enter your house. Their rights over you are that you should feed and clothe them well.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1163 – he said this is a saheeh hasan hadeeth. Also narrated by Ibn Maajah, 1851) It was narrated that Jaabir said: [the Prophet] (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Fear Allah concerning women! Verily you have taken them on the security of Allah, and intercourse with them has been made lawful unto you by words of Allah. You too have rights over them, and that s of Allah. You too have rights over them, and that they should not allow anyone to sit on your bed [i.e., not let them into the house] whom you do not like. But if they do that, you can chastise them but not severely. Their rights upon you are that you should provide them with food and clothing in a fitting manner” (Narrated by Muslim, 1218) (d) Not going out of the house except with the husband’s permission. One of the rights of the husband over his wife is that she should not go out of the house except with his permission. The Shaafa’is and Hanbalis said: she does not have the right to visit (even) her sick father except with the permission of her husband, and he has the right to prevent her from doing that… because obedience to the husband is obligatory, and it is not permitted to neglect an obligatory action for something that is not obligatory. (e) Discipline. The husband has the right to discipline his wife if she disobeys him in something good, not if she disobeys him in something sinful, because Allaah has enjoined disciplining women by forsaking them in bed and by hitting them, when they do not obey. The Hanafis mentioned four situations in which a husband is permitted to discipline his wife by hitting her. These are: not adorning herself when he wants her to; not responding when he calls her to bed and she is taahirah (pure, i.e., not menstruating); not praying; and going out of the house without his permission. The evidence that it is permissible to discipline one's wife includes the aayahs (interpretation of the meaning): “As to those women on whose part you see ill‑conduct, admonish them (first), (next) refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful)” [al-Nisaa’ 4:34] “O you who believe! Ward off yourselves and your families against a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones” [al-Tahreem 66:6] Ibn Katheer said: Qutaadah said: you should command them to obey Allaah, and forbid them to disobey Allaah; you should be in charge of them in accordance with the command of Allaah, and instruct them to follow the commands of Allaah, and help them to do so. If you see any act of disobedience towards Allaah, then stop them from doing it and rebuke them for that. This was also the view of al-Dahhaak and Muqaatil: that the duty of the Muslim is to teach his family, including his relatives and his slaves, that which Allaah has enjoined upon them and that which He has forbidden them. (Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 4/392) (f) The wife serving her husband. There is a great deal of evidence (daleel) for this, some of which has been mentioned above. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said: She is obliged to serve her husband according to what is reasonable among people of similar standing. That varies according to circumstances: the way in which a Bedouin woman serves (her husband) will not be like the way of a town-dweller, and the way of a strong woman will not be like the way of a weak woman. (al-Fataawa al-Kubraa, 4/561) (g) Submitting herself to him. Once the conditions of the marriage-contract have been fulfilled and it is valid, then the woman is obliged to submit herself to her husband and allow him to enjoy her (physically), because once the contract is completed, he is allowed in return to enjoy her, and the wife is entitled to the compensation which is the mahr. (h) The wife should treat her husband in a good manner, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable” [al-Baqarah 2:228] 2b.....Financial Rights: i. Mohr (Dowry): “And give to the women (whom you marry) their Mahr (obligatory bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage) with a good heart” [al-Nisaa’ 4:4] ii. Spending: “but the father of the child shall bear the cost of the mother’s food and clothing on a reasonable basis” [al-Baqarah 2:233] iii. Accommodation: “Lodge them (the divorced women) where you dwell, according to your means” [al-Talaaq 65:6] Non-financial Rights: i. Kind treatment: “and live with them honourably” [al-Nisaa’ 4:19] ii. Not to harm one's wife iii. Fair treatment of co-wives |
