You are wasting your time

Madam Kobo, who is old to be your grandmother. is infamous on NL for unrelenting, goal shifting, baseless argument

If left alone in a room, she would argue with herself till rapture.

Thanks jare. She just dey feel like say because she dey yankee, den she sabi pass peeps wey dey 9ja. I totally agree that her argument is goal shifting and baseless, maybe becos she don old as you mentioned, guess she hasn't received kondo in a while so she can't think straight and face reality that 9ja politics is diff frm yankee politics.

wakima:

balo, so you think that senatorial seat is that easy to win. it is not because she does not live in that area. major problem. i dont think it is a smart move. people are going to complain. like you see them do on nairaland. it may backfire on them big time.

I know it's not that easy to win jare. Na dat Kobo wey dey do lau lau just vex me, but the reality is, she has a good stronghold on the grassroots, and those are the major peeps that come out to vote. All the peeps forming alakowe are still considering if they should register to vote not to talk of voting, and if the trend continues, these same people will continue to govern. that s d sad truth.

That is the qualification of a SENATE Candidate   --- a LEGISLATOR to be? What makes her any different from Etteh the hair dresser?? I mean shouldn't we be apologizing to Etteh if you really expect us to accept the hogwash for an a record you have above?

Again with the silly use of the word HUMBLE to excuse mediocrity. Remember how HUMBLE you all claimed Yar adua was, and what the Nigerian paid for it eventually? Cut the bull, it is time you held your public officers to higher standards. How can you elect someone with NO RECORD of actual service to, of all seats, Legislative seat in a country like Nigeria, not even america where the system is strong enough to handle such? Why?

See Kobo, all these ranting on NL doesn't help matters. 9ja is in a mess, we all know. If you know how to solve the problems facing 9ja, bring your backside down to the country and solve things, rather than just running your mouth here. it doesn't help cos the politicians don't read it.

Since you know it all, come over and pick a nomination form of any political party of your choice or form your own party, better still, contest as an independent candidate. Oh, i forgot, u will have to start as a ward councilor cos u dont have "experience". Start frm there, and maybe when u r like 70, u will have enuff experience for d post of senate.
Most of these peeps that just sit outside the country and post on NL just feel because 1+1=2 in US or UK, den 1+1 must be 2 in 9ja.

Face reality Kobo, either u like it or not, with your clamour for so called experience or not, she will win the senatorial election if she contests under ACN. How will she win? majority of doz that vote (and always vote) are the transport workers and market women. The transport workers are loyal to Tinubu, the market women are loyal to his "mum". and these are the people that have been risking their lives to come out on election day to vote, not some cowards who sit outside the country or some suit-wearing white collar jobs peeps who will not even register to vote not to talk of voting.

You want to make a change in 9ja, come over and do the dirty job. Start from your village, sensitize the peeps, tell them why they shouldn't vote for those you call thieves or those you claim doesn't have experience. Contest for positions and make the needed difference.

If you can't do that, then give us just one person's name with all the needed experience the world has to offer to represent lagos central senatorial district.

at bolded, Exactly what i feel too.

To those wondering what she has done, just check out the things done by her New Era Foundation while her husband was in office, and which she is still doing even after she is no longer the first lady. The "Spelling Bee" competition among public schools in lagos state which produces the "One day Governor" is now what every secondary school student in Lagos look forward to. The foundation also partnered with Maggi cube one time like that to do this Cooking competition for young people in d state. Her foundation is also supporting the wheel chair tennis competition for physically challenged in lagos (na d ones wey i know be dat),  and it took a lot of begging and convincing to get her husband to allow her do all these.

In all sincerity, to those castigating her, from 1999 till date, has there ever been any first lady that made so much impact like her?

And the post she wants to go for, what has the incumbent done?

That she is the wife of a former governor shouldn't hinder her dreams. If she believes she can make more impact in the senate, than in the Local Government like someone was suggesting, then free her. What happens to gender equality?

As a first lady, she didn't disappoint, (and she was very humble even when her husby was governor, according to those who have met her),  so why should we feel that she will disappoint now?

Eleweomo, NURTW boss, killed in Ibadan •Police report indicts Senator Folarin’s aides •Blame CP, Alao-Akala - Senate Leader’s aide

Friday, 31 December 2010

THE factional chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Oyo State chapter, Alhaji Abdul Lateef Salako, also known as Eleweomo, was on Thursday killed

in Ibadan.

He was killed inside the IDC Primary School, Olunloyo, in Ona Ara Local Government Area of the state, during the second leg of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congress, ordered by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP.

The police report issued later confirmed the killing of the factional NURTW boss allegedly by the aides of Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin.

The report, with reference number CJ:4161/OY/‘B’ OPS/Vol. and dated 30/12/2010 was released at 18.00 hours (6.00 p.m.) and was signed by Compol ‘B’ OPS Ibadan, David Afolayan, an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

The incident report said: “At about 12.30 hours of yesterday, at IDC Primary School, Olunloyo, Ogbere, Ibadan, while Ona Ara PDP Local Government congress was in progress, Senator Teslim Folarin of PDP representing Oyo Central, escorted by mobile policemen and other civilian security guards, armed with AK 47 rifles, pump action guns and other dangerous weapons, came and started damaging vehicles and setting some ablaze.

“Some of the thugs pursued one Alhaji Abdul Salako (aka Elewe-omo, factional leader of NURTW, Oyo State chapter, it was later discovered that the said Alhaji Abdul Salako was killed at some distance from the venue of the congress.

“Also, one Alhaji Sheu Qudir and CA III Olojode Owode, both NSDC personnel, attached to Ona Ara LGA were shot and matcheted during the pandemonium.

“Items recovered from the scene include five expended AK 47 ammunitions (sic), nine expended cartridges, among others, 14 vehicles were damaged, five were set ablaze, two suspects were arrested, corpses deposited at Adeoyo Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

The report further said “scene of the incident was visited by Commissioner of Police, Baba Adisa Bolanta, ACPOL ‘B’ Ops and other senior officers.

It said efforts were on to arrest the perpetrators and other fleeing thugs, while “patrol, monitoring, surveillance within the metro is in progress.

“Adequate security arrangement has been put in place to prevent escalation of crisis,” the report said.

When the Nigerian Tribune visited the Iwo Road area where hundreds of Alhaji Salako’s supporters gathered, they were seen discussing the tragedy in groups in a charged atmosphere, raining curses on the assailants.

Also, when Nigerian Tribune visited the NURTW secretariat at Olomi, security had been beefed up with one Personnel Armoured Carrier (APC), police patrol vehicles, mobile policemen on standby, to avert a possible breakdown of law and order.

Meanwhile, traders along the Iwo Road interchange and Olomi areas were seen packing their wares for fear of being attacked by members of the union, following the death of their leader.

One of the aides close to the late Salako told the Nigerian Tribune that the murdered NURTW boss had put arrangements in top gear for the twin celebration of his 58th birthday and house-warming on New Year’s day.

According to him, “Alhaji Salako was a very gentleman. He had planned to return to his house after the congress and continue discussions with those saddled with finalising arrangements for a hitch-free celebration.

“Last night, I was at his house till 8.00 p.m. He told me he would have invited the late fuji exponent, Alhaji Ayinde Balogun (Barrister) for the celebration on Saturday.

“In fact, bails of aso ebi textiles have been bought by admirers and well-wishers of the slain gentleman. But those who killed the vulture would not last a calender year,” he said.

Reacting to the incident, the Oyo State governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, condemned the dastardly act, saying “how come that the peaceful congress was violently disrupted at Ona-Ara, Folarin’s local government? Their fear was that the congress, as the results were emerging, would expose their electoral weakness.”

Alao-Akala, reacting through his Special Adviser on Public Communications, Mr Dotun Oyelade, said the murder of the NURTW boss should not disturb the state congress holding today.

“Our delegates elected at today’s (yesterday) congress should troop out to the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium tomorrow and vote in their state exco, and we implore the good people of Oyo State to remain calm, the government is on top of the situation,” he said.

But giving an account of what happened at the local government, a close ally of Senator Folarin absolved the senator and his aides of blame.

He said both Governor Alao-Akala and the commissioner of police should be held responsible for Eleweomo’s death.

According to him, Senator Folarin had, on Wednesday, placed a call to the commissioner of police, alleging a threat to his life and the plan by some individuals to cause crisis at the venue of the congress.

“Senator Folarin called the commissioner of police five times; he even placed a call to the director of the State Security Service (SSS) over the plan to cause confusion and that he was the target.

“Even on Thursday, he called Mr Baba Adisa Bolanta again, when he heard that Eleweomo and his thugs had invaded the venue of the congress and started harassing his men. He implored the CP to deploy his men there to ensure the safety of party men. But the CP failed to heed the warning.

“Besides, the question is what was Eleweomo doing at the venue of the congress, when he was neither a member of the PDP nor from Ona-Ara? Eleweomo was from Ogun State. The fact is, Governor Alao-Akala had deployed Eleweomo there to cause confusion and disrupt the congress. He created the confusion with his boys and they were the ones that did the shooting.

“So Nigerians should ask Mr Bolanta the action he took after a whole Senate Leader called to alert him of the planned chaos and why he failed to deploy his men in the venue immediately,” he said.

The source said the director of SSS could confirm steps taken by Senator Folarin which would have averted the tragedy had the CP taken action.

“The said police report is all a concoction of lies. Both Governor Alao-Akala and Mr Bolanta were responsible for the chaos,” the source stated.

This is one of the major reasons why I dislike the word "religion". It has done more harm than good to this world, especially to 3rd World countries. I believe there is God but I just hate that word called religion. Worship your God in your homes and don't disturb others with it or try to force others to believe your God or worship like you do. If I have the opportunity, public practice of any form of religion is what I will first ban.

I dont know why many Lagosians are so gullible and shortsighted, nobody says Fashola has not done anything, but comparing Lagos earnings and his achievements i will rate him below average, remember we cannot compare some many other states in Nigeria to Lagos State, for instance the Budget of Lagos State for a year could amount to 6 years budget of another state in Nigeria, i think it is high time we stopped hailing mediocrity, all this people overpraising Fashola are his enemy,

Thank you o. With IGR of about 17billion b4 Tinubu left office and with the bonus from FG monthly, I don't think Doctors should be going on strike in Lagos state as well as having the gates of the state owned tertiary institution closed for months,

striker07:

all this people overpraising Fashola are his enemy, for instance in his first two years his performance was good, but later it began to subside.

His performance began to subside because he decided to take all the glory, without acknowledging those that are making things work out. Anybody can be Governor and perform well, as far as he has a very good and dynamic cabinet. Nobody can do it all, but Fashola seems not to understand that.
Politics / Re: Will Gov. Fashola Of Lagos Get 2nd Term Ticket? by balo(m): 11:52am On Dec 16, 2010
bidemi12:

I cannot see your point, believe me I have tried. Did tinubu not utilize the option of a second term ticket? Why is it so difficult to swallow the notion of same by fashola? No one is saying banire will not perform but fashola has the option and upperhand of contesting for a second term . Oshiomoleh came to UI with only his car and no security, does that make it any less risky for a public official? I pray, please tell me your point?

I guess you should read my earlier post very well again, maybe then you will realise they are replies to previous posts. You claimed Fashola identified and nurtured Banire, and i asked how, when it was obvious Banire was far more popular than Fashola during the Tinubu administration.

Yes, Fashola can contest for 2nd term, constitutionally, he is allowed,  but that doesn't mean he should now become the consensus candidate in his party.

I think Fashola should learn how to acknowledge those on whose backs he rose. Nobody knew him, until Tinubu, more or less, installed him as the AC candidate. Remember, lot of guys in AC then were annoyed and some even left the party. Tinubu had to sacrifice his senatorial ambition so as to please others that lost out. Now, Fashola goes about as if without Tinubu's help, he would have won back then.

I still insist everything done in Fashola's administration were already started by Tinubu's administration, or already in the pipeline, can you deny that?

Nobody is saying Fashola should not contest for primaries. if he wins, fine. If he doesn't, heaven will not fall. He just have to understand that some people brought him there, and he shouldn't be doing as if he knows it all.

jas_o:

I know Asiwaju Hammed Tinubu is deligent beyond most insinuations here, he can never subdue himself so low to come up with idea of Fash replacement at this junction of nascent development in Lag. whatever in his mind i think is high time to let Lagosian know where he truly represented after huge rumours about been a distraction to fashiola efficiency. I know he's a true democrat and distinguished awoism so he won't do something that we earn him Awo  (RIP)course in his grave. it could be strategies but that should not bring us back or reduced him to a conclusion of been senile. Fash should also be more active because we know he has more to give Lagosians, don't be distracted by rumours, we voted you there simply because of your promised in which you're fulfilling so more are still yet to be actualised, remember you promised fourth Maryland bridge! which is very key to Lag economic growth. i wish  you best of luck omo luwa bi.

Lagosians voted for Fashola because Tinubu said we should. If the same man that said we should vote for him that time now seems to be saying otherwise (though unconfirmed), then I think we should listen.

4th Mainland bridge was already a plan in Tinubu's era. The blueprint is already there since that time. So, anybody can come in, follow the blueprint and get it done. Government is suppose to be continuum.
Politics / Re: Will Gov. Fashola Of Lagos Get 2nd Term Ticket? by balo(m): 1:43am On Dec 16, 2010
I think everyone that has interest in getting the ACN ticket should be allowed to contest in the primaries. Giving Fashola automatic ticket is undemocratic. Remember, most people never knew who Fashola was until he became the flagbearer of AC in 2007.

Missy85:

Look around the world & recent history, you'll find that political office holders rarely do well in their 2nd/final term, because - but not limited to - the fact they no longer have to face reelection.

Think Clinton, Bush, Mbeki, Obj - like I said, each of these had different reasons for being distracted in their final term. Also, can you mention any governor in recent political history of Nigeria who did better in his final term.

18 - 24 mths into Fashola's second term, the business of govt will begin to die a slow death. Fasola's focus then will be securing his 'pension' - massive embezzlement.

Yes, he has done very well. H/ever, if there is a capable replacement, Lagosians shld thank Mr Fashola for a job well done, wish him good luck in his future endeavours, and send him on his way.

Second term = massive looting. It's not just Fashola, it's the commissioners, & all the political hangers on. It's the norm accross the country.

People should not  get emotional over this. Think with your head, not your heart.

You are right,  after 24 months of even the first term, there was a lull in governance and it's still obvious now. I think Fashola should give credit to his commissioners. Every developmental program in Lagos is attributed to Fashola, forgetting that it has been in the pipeline since Tinubu's era. The BRT scheme was started by Tinubu with his creation of LAMATA, and Muiz Banire was the commissioner for transport then. The beautification of Lagos as well as waste management is under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment, and who is the Commissioner? Banire. The Lekki Free Trade Zone already had a blueprint before Fashola became Governor, yet he goes about as if it was his idea.

my guy, all that one na circus act to make us believe he is humble. A politician is still a politician and can never be trusted. Personally i think he was silly to even do a thing. with the level of insecurity in nigeria why would he take such a risk?
Adams Oshiomoleh came to UI with only his car and no security.

A great leader is one who identifies another leader and nutures him like fashola did with him.

And i wonder who identified Fashola, when it was obvious that he was d least expected to get the AC ticket in 2007. I know Muiz Banire as Commissioner for Transport under Tinubu,  I never knew Fashola until he contested for Governor,  so, how come he is the nurturer and Banire the nurturee, ?

Ileke-IdI:

Busayo, wherever you are, whatever you are, I hope you're reading this. You really hurt me bad, I never thought I'd hurt this bad. I remember once joking with you that I've never cried when you called me a cry baby. But why can't I stop crying so hard now. It hurts me to the marrows of my body knowing that you wont be back on your long journey.

You were someone I could talk to, someone I could confide in. You were more than someone I met on NL, you meant so much to me. You were my friend, you never expected me to be who I was not. Because who you saw was enough.
You were your words. You did what you said you would. You never dissapoint.

Busayo, you were funny, you were random. You were happy just by making people laugh, that was enough for you.
You didnt go out of your way to be who you were not. You looked out for so many people, yet you did not expect anybody to look out for you.
We joked about the silliest thing, like your last name. We joked about how you could be a "babalawo" since "bawomolo" sounds funny.

You told me you were 20, I told you you were lying. You could have been a 50 yrs old man, trying to be young again.
You're hurting me so bad before you tok yourself away from me.  Why are you doing this to me? DID i ALSO DESRVE THIS?

You were just too nice, and took too many shoit from people. I told you that so many times. You'd call me crazy, and I'd call you crazier.
You were someone who would just call to ask how someone is, just to ask about my welfare even when I forgot you. I regret it now.
You did not look for new ways to wand off trouble, because to you, joking were the only way to fix up arguments and trouble.

I've met many nice, kind, brilliant people. But I dont think they'd have touched my soul like you did. You had everything right in front of you, yet you were not arrogant. That was not your game. You were sweet and so kind.

You'd sit there and listen to me, so quiet that I'd have to ask if you were still there. You'd tell me that you were. I'd accuse you of not listening, but then you'd prive me wrong by PERFECTLY analysing what I've just said. You always listen, even if I was being stu pid. You always care, even when I didnt deserve it. You always made me feel like I was smart, even when I ask for your help at the simpliest of stuff.

When I had a problem in my engineering dept, you gave me several advice. The hardest classes for me were the easiest for you. And you were never too busy to help. When I told you I was going to give up and switch my major, you jokingly called me a chicken and coward. Which made me work hard to prove you wrong. Busayo, in all I do in my academics from now on, I'd continue to make you proud wherever you are.

I remember we used to joke about how old you and I was. I'd call you "aburo" and you'll ask me how old I am. You'd tell me that you were 3 months older than me. I'd say "so what? what is 3 months?". You'd tell me that "that is a lot o". But still I'd keep calling you aburo.

You never knew how much you meant to me as a friend, a brother and a fellow Nigerian. Now I regret not letting you know. I regret taking advantage of time. I will miss you so much, and I'll never stop crying. If I have to live pure and kind as you just to give you a second chance, then may the Lord be my strength. I just want to wake up to hear the phone ring and hear your "this ekiti girl" joke again. I want you to wake up and call me crazy. I want to stop hurting so bad and I want to stop crying. Ok, I promise, I'll stop crying if you come to me in a dream and tell me that everything is alright. Without a sign, without something, I dont think I can stop hurting.

And I forgot to wish you happy birthday, so happy belated birthday. I was sooo hoping that you would take me to a "club" on my 21sth birthday to see what the racous about clubs was all about. We both didnt know, we could have found out. This world is not a fair one at all. It's so cruel. Why do we have to suffer, why do we have to say "goodbye"?.

BUSAYO, RIP. I will forever miss you.

God knows best.
Rest In Peace bro.

2011: Northern Governors plot against Atiku, Nyako, Lamido, Warmakko, lead attack
…IBB's Camp unhappy with Ogbeh, Jemibewon

Few days after the Adamu Ciroma led committee picked ex Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as the ‘northern consensus candidate’, a fresh plot is brewing among his peers with the intention of throwing spanner in the works for him.

Before the vote, the four aspirants, Atiku, Ibrahim Babangida, Bukola Saraki and Aliyu Gusau had grossly polarized the north.

Atiku, who knocked out Babangida, Saraki, and Gusau, is facing formidable opposition from some northern Governors who feel the criteria that gave him the number one spot was skewed to favor him.

According to reports, Babangida got three votes from Magaji Dambata, Adamu Ciroma and Senator Jibrin Salihu; Atiku got four from Bello Kurfi, Ambassador Mamman Anka, Baba Yaro and Ex police chief, MD Yusuf. Saraki got the backing of Audu Ogbeh and David Jemibewon.

Meanwhile, Pointblanknews.com learnt that the Babangida camp is presently unhappy with Ogbeh and Jemibewon for what it tagged betrayal, since according to them, the duos membership of the committee was influenced by the gap toothed General.

According To our source” the IBB camp is very unhappy with Ogheh and Jemibewon. It was Babangida who ensured the got spots on that committee, with the understanding that they would join Ciroma, Dambata and co to pick the nomination.”

Pointblanknews.com gathered that Ogheh who had earlier promised the Babangida camp and Ciroma to vote for the former military President, pushed for a secret ballot to shroud his preference for Saraki.

Pointblanknews.com learnt that Adamawa Governor, Murtala Nyako, Jigawa helmsman, Sule Lamido, Isa Yuguda of Bauchi and Sokoto’s Aliyu Wamako, are leading the assault.

This is coming on the heels of the resolve of the Adamawa PDP not to recognize Atiku as the northern candidate.

According to our sources, the trio of Nyako, Waramako, and Lamido have met three times since Atiku was announced. Tagged the G3, they met last Monday night in Dutse, the Jigawa capital. The previous meetings held in Yola and Sokoto. Yuguda joined lately.

Pointblanknews.com sources hinted that the grouse of the quartet which is reaching out to other colleagues is that Atiku is not a loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

According to them, Atiku forced his way back into the party, arm twisted the national leadership into giving him a waiver, even when his state chapter was reluctant.

Another very curious issue raised by the quartet is the Jefferson bribery scandal involving Atiku, but the pro Atiku camp dismissed the issue, pointing out that Babangida has heavier and more slimy baggage in June 12 annulment, death of Dele Giwa and the gulf war wind fall.

Our sources said Nyako has vowed to stop Atiku and take all his loyalists, including Governors and National Assembly members to the President Goodluck Jonathan’s camp.

Deputy Director of the Babangida campaign organization, Senator Kanti Bello recently described the choice of Atiku as mind boggling. According to him “ Atiku is not the most qualified. We trusted the Ciroma committee to pick the right candidate , but picking Atiku is beyond imagination. Babangida is my choice , he is the only one who can perform and bring us success. On wether I will back him, as a human being, I have to think about it”

Nyako who is Atiku’s political foe severally blocked attempts by Atiku to join the PDP in his home state, even after the national leadership had received him in Abuja.

Friction is that finishing touch that barbers use to complete your shape-up.
The one where they make sure the hairline is perfectly straight and the edges are sharp, they use a small clipper or even a blade sometimes for precision.

Now imagine doing all that with a chainsaw. grin grin

Haven't you heard they were also responsible for the haiti earthquakes. No jokes. All the "facts" are here on nairaland.

Hopefully, you understand sarcasm.

ElRazur, You could be right bro. No jokes now, but there is a technology capable of creating earthquakes, volcanoes, drought and any other "natural" disasters, anywhere "they" feel like creating it on the earth surface. The technology is called HAARP - High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program, founded by the US. Like you said, some have attributed the earthquake in Haiti to this tech, as it is believed "they" were testing its capacity to destroy. Some have even termed it the real Weapon of Mass Destruction. I have been doing a kinda research on this tech since 2009 but all I'm getting is linking the tech to the Illuminati, End Time and stuffs like that. The tech is also capable of producing Holograms, like 3-D images of Jesus, Mohammed, d devil, Buddhist god or any other religious stuff like that in the sky. Conspiracy theories about this tech is kinda scary. Anyhow sha, God dey.

Meanwhile, chief, can u pls post d link of where d "facts" were discussed on NL, maybe I can get some info there. Thanks bro.
