Politics / Re: Obasanjo Goes For Medical Checkup In Bayelsa. See How Much He Paid. by beanos(m): 7:58pm On Aug 02, 2018
emmy9688:
Chief Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of Nigeria took time off his busy schedule to attend to his health.

He visited Bayelsa Diagnostic Centre where he went through some medical checkup.

He said

“I paid N350,000 (about $1000) for all my medical procedures at the Bayelsa Diagnostic Centre. I would have paid between $20,000 and $25,000 for the same quality of service in the USA”

He used the opportunity to encourage Nigerians to patronize Nigerian hospitals.

Nairaland / General / Re: FG To Ban Commercial Motorcycles Nationwide by beanos(m): 3:05pm On Oct 26, 2014
etunoman76:
The use of motorcycles as commercial means of transport in Nigeria, popularly known as ‘Okada’ or ‘Achaba’ may soon be banned throughout the country.

The proposal for the ban was made by the National Council on Transport after its annual conference in Enugu State and endorsed by the Minister of Transport, Sen. Idris Umar.

A statement from the Federal Ministry of Transport on Saturday evening stated that the ban of commercial motorcycle was one of the measures proposed towards adequate provision of safety and secure transportation in Nigeria.

It said the recommendation was contained in a statement of the week long meeting which had in attendance all the state commissioners of transport, permanent secretaries, directors and officials in the federal and state ministries of transport across the country.

The council advised all states in the federation to henceforth discourage the use of commercial motorcycles as a means of public transportation.

“All states and the Federal Capital Territory have therefore been advised to establish a public transport system that ensure strict regulation of the operation of public passenger transportation system through a well-articulated management system for enhanced safety, security, effective and efficient service delivery,” the statement said.

It added, “The states are to also develop master plans for the development of intelligent transport system to facilitate the development and management of their transport operations in line with emerging trends and global best practices.”

The statement noted that the council also agreed that all commercial vehicles should be properly registered in each state while their enumeration should be carried out perio
dically to enhance safety and security.

Even with CCTV and Camera, people would know how to avoid not getting caught. Ask people living in the UK.
There so many unresolved crime.

I disagree with you as to what you said about CCTV cameras and UK, because there was a case of two friends who got into a fight over £40 Mr A stabbed Mr B with a broken bottle and ran away, while in pains Mr B managed to call an ambulance and was treated and he was asked to make a report to the police station. lo and behold within 24hrs Mr B was called to identify the person suspected to have stabbed him. when he went to the station he met his friend at the station and told the police that he was the one that stabbed him. what astonished me was that when Mr A saw his friend he knew that his days are numbered in UK , what he was shouting was that his friend Mr B was an illegal immigrant. Mr B was asked to got home, till date Mr A is still back home and never to step his feet here in UK.

That is the good thing having a good functional installed CCTV cameras.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Wamakko, Yuguda, Rochas, Give Money To Muslim Converts by beanos(m): 10:11pm On Nov 17, 2013
Phoenix619: Governor Aliyu Wamakko and his Bauchi State counterpart, Alhaji Isa Yuguda, both gave N5million each to Igbo natives who converted to Islam yesterday. Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and former Governor of Abia State Orji Uzor Kalu gave N2 million and N1million to the converts.

The event took place at the National Mosque in Abuja.
The Chief Imam of the National Mosque, who was represented at the ceremony, announced the cash donation. The converts who were all males within the ages of 25 and 35 years said they accepted Islam because it is a “truthful, peaceful and charitable faith.”

“I was attracted to Islam because of the truth it resonated in me, and I saw the charity of the faith which all its adherents find peace and solace in,” said Ibrahim Ukah, formerly Uchenna Ukah and a younger brother of a fellow convert, Tobechi Ukah, now Abdullahi Ukah.

The commencement of Friday prayers at the mosque was unusually late as the converts were given priority when Islamic rites were administered on them for 30 minutes.

The 18 men from the South-Eastern part of the country were led by the NTA Owerri host of “Islamic calling in Igbo language” Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Orjiegbulam alongside the Board of Trustees, Secretary of the Justice Mamman Nasir Islamic Centre for Peace and Research, Alhaji Ibrahim Biobo Nlomije.

When you pay your Tithe of
10%, You still have 90% left
with you. From there you can
still help the poor around you.
You don't rob peter to pay
paul.
The Law of Tithing.
Tithing is a commandment
from the Lord to give one-
tenth of all our increase, which
we understand to mean
income. Even Abraham paid
tithing,
"And it was this same
Melchizedek to whom
Abraham paid tithes; yea,
even our father Abraham paid
tithes of one-tenth part of all
he possessed."
Blessings from Paying Tithing.
When we obey the Law of
Tithing we are blessed.
Malachi 3:10 says, "Bring ye all
the tithes into the storehouse,
that there may be meat in
mine house, and prove me
now herewith, saith the LORD
of hosts, if I will not open you
the windows of heaven, and
pour you out a blessing, that
there shall not be room
enough to receive it." When
we don't pay tithing we are
stealing from God. "Will a man
rob God? Yet ye have robbed
me. But ye say, Wherein have
we robbed thee? In tithes and
offerings." ( Malachi 3: An
important part about
obedience to the Law of
Tithing is to pay it faithfully.
This means that we shouldn't
begrudge paying it, such as
grumbling in our hearts about
"having" to give money.
"There is a law, irrevocably
decreed in heaven before the
foundations of this world, upon
which all blessings are
predicated— And when we
obtain any blessing from God,
it is by obedience to that law
upon which it is predicated."
Meaning we
receive blessings by obeying
God's laws and when we obey
God's laws there are blessings
that go with it. Remember,
blessings can be spiritual,
temporal or both but are not
always given in the way we
expect. How to Calculate
Tithing Since tithing is one-
tenth of our increase, meaning
our income, we figure out how
much money, either weekly,
monthly, etc. and then times
that amount by 10%. You can
easily do this by dividing any
amount by 10. For example
take #50,000 divide it by ten
and the amount of tithing
would be
#5000.
It's also important to note that
you can be generous with your
tithing, by paying even more.
Gaining a Testimony of
Tithing.
Personally I know that obeying
the law of tithing is a
wonderful financial blessing.
It's a privilege and a blessing
to pay tithing. As you put your
trust in the Lord and begin to
pay a faithful tithe of 10
percent of your income you
will gain your own personal
testimony from the law of
tithing.

Toyota Tundra Makes History Towing Space Icon
American-made Truck Successfully Assists Transport of Endeavour Space Shuttle Across Manchester Bridge

2012 Toyota Tundra Tows Endeavour over Manchester Boulevard Bridge.

Toyota Tundra Tows Space Shuttle Endeavour Broll
LOS ANGELES (Oct. 13, 2012) – A Toyota Tundra half-ton pickup truck without any special modifications successfully towed the 150,000 pound space shuttle Endeavour across a bridge spanning the nation’s busiest freeway on Friday night, Oct. 12. The tow was a result of a 20-year partnership between Toyota and the California Science Center to raise awareness of the space program and continue public education through exhibits and events.

The shuttle’s 12-mile route over city streets to its new home at the California Science Center includes one passage over the 405 Freeway. The Tundra assisted in the transport of the Endeavour as it journeyed over the Manchester Boulevard Bridge—an area that required a lighter tow mechanism than other portions of the route for weight distribution purposes. Toyota did extensive testing and worked with the Sarens Group, a heavy lifting and engineering transport company, to develop a dolly to move the Endeavour over the bridge.

“We’ve partnered with the California Science Center since the early '90s as part of our ongoing commitment to inspiring youth in the fields of engineering, innovation and future technology, and we are honored to lend our support for this historic event,” said Michael Rouse, vice president of community affairs and philanthropy for Toyota.

The model selected was a stock 2012 Tundra CrewMax 4x4 with Toyota’s 5.7-liter iForce V8, producing 381 horsepower. All Tundra trucks are produced exclusively at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas in San Antonio. The truck used to tow the Endeavour was purchased from a Southern California Toyota dealer, with no modifications or special equipment added for the tow.

The Tundra was piloted by longtime Toyota professional driver Matt McBride. Riding along was Garrett Reisman, one of the astronauts aboard the orbiter when it traveled to the International Space Station in 2008. From start to finish, it took 5 minutes to cross the bridge.

“I’m honored to be part of the space shuttle Endeavour’s final mission to the California Science Center,” said Garrett Reisman, an engineer and former NASA astronaut. “I appreciate Toyota’s support in helping bring this space icon home to the Southern California community.”

The Science Center has a popular working exhibit utilizing a Tundra that demonstrates the physics of leverage. The Tundra used to tow the shuttle will replace the existing truck when the Endeavour exhibit opens on Oct. 30, 2012.
