Hi, I have a question. Is it possible to rent a car in Australia without using a credit card? I know that in some countries there are no problems, but this is the first time I've traveled to Australia. Thank you smiley

If you have a debit card, you can use a debit card. Credit card is not compulsory but you need a card.

Boss @bellong, I have a query for you;

A couple currently onshore has been invited to apply for PR. The wife is about 3 weeks due to having a baby. Should they proceed to lodge the PR and add the baby afterward or wait to have the baby and apply for the PR thereafter?

Thanks

The couple should apply now. When the child cones, they can call to add additional family member

An occupation may be on the list and not sponsored by any state. Before you do any assessment, ensure there is a state sponsoring the occupation.

To answer your question, if a state is sponsoring the occupation, your spouse can apply.

Hello, please here is my case with questions

Age = 32, will be 33 in May
IELTS = LSRW = 8.5, 8.0, 6.5, 7.5
Marital = Single
Degree = MSc from UK uni Renewable Energy
Engineering
B.Eng from FUTO electrical engineering

Can i add NYSC as work experience? If yes, how?

Do you have evidence of salary paid at the level for your occupation during NYSC? If you have, you can add it to your experience. You need minimum of 3 years experience to claim experience points.

Meanwhile, you don't need to include your MSc, it is not relevant except you want to nominate a related occupation. MSc and BSc are both 15 points.

I've done all that and I know the next steps to take. I just needed to know if i stand a chance at a positive assessment based on my details. My job description is closely aligned with PR professional so that's the occupation I intend to assess.

Your question was ambiguous. As long as your job descriptions align with the ANZSCO for your nominated occupation, you should be fine.

Thank you for responding.

We're still within the timeline but it keeps changing (8-10 months, 7-9months then now 10-11 months). Very annoying because I thought it was supposed to be reducing embarassed

Expect it to be longer. The current pandemic has created significant delays with all visa processing. Immigration staffs are working at reduced capacity due to social distancing and the work that can be done from home is limited.

Be patient, as long as you already have the invite and submitted an application, you will sure get it. Let the country get through this period first.

It is a long process for lawyers. You need to be called to bar in any of the Jurisdictions before you can go through the process.

The link sent to you is one of the jurisdictions. Check section for foreign trained lawyers. It explains the process.

If you have to be the principal applicant, you will need to proof to the assessing body that you work in the capacity of a manager with departments reporting to you. It is the only way that you can get positive outcome. You also have to be reporting directly to the MD.

Aside your husband's age, he doesn't have any issue. He will be fine.

Thanks for your response. I'm an Engineer on the ship and I checked the list and found "Ship's Engineer" with the code 231212. However it shows I'm only eligible for visa class 482, 187, 494.

Basically my job on the ship is Electrical/Electronic Engineering. When I put Electrical Engineering on the ANZSCO i found out that I'm eligible for all visa classes.

What do you advise?

Look at both electrical and electronics engineering qualification to identifying which matches your job descriptions more. You can apply for what matches your job descriptions more out of the two.

You don't need to send email to EA. The assessment is based on your job descriptions and not necessarily the work environment.

You should have requested for a remark of your writing. Very close to a 20 point score except for the writing.

It’s obvious that Nigerians in Australia don’t want anyone to join them grin they just wanna keep forming Aussie , I open a thread on Aussie partner visa no one respond smh

How did you come to this conclusion?

You opened a thread with this statement

"Hello nairalanders have noticed there is no thread for Australia partner/ fiancée visa on here , please let’s share our experience on this type of visa cartegory."

How do you expect people who migrated via the skilled program to respond to you when they have no experience.

It is typical of people to throw stones and blame people for their own errors. If you need information about partner visa, there are loads of information on internet and immigration website. You should read them and later ask specific question. Don't act like you are entitled to be responded to.

Those people are not left without support. The government has made provisions for those who lost their jobs.
When this madness is over, they will get their jobs back.

Oh wow!
I actually studied Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Do you advice I assess with EA as an Electrical Engineer instead (even though my job title doesn't reflect it, and I don't do much of it)

Do they also shave off years at EA?

If you don't have electrical engineering experience, there is no point for the reassessment as you wouldn't get any experience points.

Hi tunlex01
Please I need your help.
ACS assessed me and shaved off most of my experience to less than a year.
Does this affect my work experience point in Skillselect?
and which state can I apply to for ICT Project Manager (without a job offer)?

I checked NT, Tas, QLD - Nothing
NSW isn't quite clear
VIC requires employment (Any good chances via INDEED?)

You cannot add the experience deducted by ACS. I guess your qualification was determined not to contain enough ICT courses.

Hello everyone, I just moved to Canberra in early March, I just successfully set up my NAB account this week but I have been having issues transferring my funds from my naira account to my NAB account. I just found out I was supposed to open a dollar account before I left (which I didn't).

ATM withdrawal looks like my only option, but the conversion rate will be higher and I'd be incurring more bank transfer cost.

Please, what other way can I go about accessing my funds?

Also, I ordered a SIM for Kogan (after I bought an ALDI SIM that didn't work in my android phone). Please, is Kogan a good choice?

Thanks.

Look for someone who needs Naira in exchange for AUD there. It is the easiest way to get your money changed.

You should look into buying Lyca mobile, Lebara or Dodo, they have wider and better coverage than Kogan

@Triggerdaclub,

Yes, you should be able to get registration with Masters of Nursing provided the university is accredited by AHPRA. However, you will need to proof to the case officer assessing your visa application why you want to study study despite having Medicine as first degree.

If you are coming as a student, be prepared to write the AMC while still in school so you can ease into PR application. It is easier to write it while still studying compared to when you graduate and have little time to prepare.

Alternatively, write PLAB in the UK, practice in the UK for a year or two and migrate to Australia.

@LondonBook,

Biometric is only for temporary visas. If you are applying for permanent resident visa or pathway to PR visas, biometric is not required.

@Vikmeek,

What was your motivation for studying MBA despite your first degree?

These are the possible options you have:

1. When you graduate, look fir a job in program/project administration and work for a year before doing the skills assessment with VETASSES. You will then apply for state nomination (190/491) in NSW.

2. Forget about applying for state nomination from other states different from your state of residence if you are onshore. None of the states will consider you if you are not resident in their state. NT may give a little consideration but it is like a Carmel passing through the eye of a needle.

3. Ditch your current program, apply for Masters in your first degree course or any course that has potential longevity on the occupation list. While considering this, look outside NSW or Victoria. You can check WA, TAS or SA and maybe QLD.

4. Consider bligs recommendations

5. Assess your first degree and experience, apply for NSW nomination while still living there and see what happens.

6. On a side note, you have been here long enough to accept to go for such course.

I get your point and respect your opinion. I put my kids welfare above mine as well n I'm not complaining. It helps me as well as I believe a happy home is one of the best gifts I can offer my kids so it makes me more tolerant. My opinion....

Your opinion is respected. A question out of curiosity on the bolded part, how will putting kids create a happy home?

Your explanation is a roundabout way of contradicting yourself. It's like saying A is not B and A is not C, but A is B and C, how very logical? If a woman needs a man then she needs a man and if she doesn't then she doesn't. If a woman needs a man to make the fulfillment beautiful, then she needs a man. Period. You're playing fast and loose with logic. We all do things with a beautiful (or good) end in view. I'd also add that a woman who needs a man occasionally needs a man; it doesn't have to be frequent. Women do not need men. We can do better on our own. I'll still say it a female's com0any is worth more than any male's to women with high self worth who are not pickmeishas.

Her comment sounded denigrating and insulting: she said, " ... the woman will flourish" as if women need men to live a fulfilled life. I am just surprised.

I do respect your opinion but I do not agree with the bolded. The fact that a woman pretends to live a fulfilled life without a man doesn't mean she doesn't need a man.

My post is not contradictory but saying technically that the genders need each other. There is a reason why males and females were created.

Most females who claim to not need a man cry in their closet for lack of a man. Some seek consolation in pets.

It is a natural and biological desire for women to need men and vice-versa.

What a joker! But not surprised that you feel putting your kids' welfare first somehow means one will evolve into an overbearing MIL after all u also believe one must always be prepared to gift the husband the body to be counted a good wife!!!

Not necessarily but if your idea of marriage is to put your kids first, then you shouldn't have been married in the first instance.

These kids, are they not children of the man too? While children are vulnerable and require care as well as attention, they are not the principal reason for marriage.

Your children shouldn't come before your spouse and he also shouldn't put the kids above you.

@ First bolded: Did you make a mistake. Man-hating woman, you say? Or are you being cynical because I had to call you out that you're an impostor hiding as a woman? No time for snarky comments.

@Second bolded: I respect your opinion but you shouldn't shove this Bs down people's throat. Women do not need men at all to live a fulfilled life. Our fulfilment starts when we acknowledge it.

Only insecure, low-esteem pickmeishas do. I don talk my own.

I don't think the opening post has any denigrating meaning to women. What she wrote is akin to the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 30.

As per the bolded, women do not need men to live a fulfilled and vice-versa. However, they need each other to make the fulfillment beautiful and smooth as helpmates.

One will chase one thousand and two will chase ten thousand.

No matter the level of knowledge available, there is a divine order that can't be broken irrespective of what we humans do.

Between, she is a female not male.

You should do a court affidavit that the school made an error on your birth certificate. Mention that your birth date is same in all documents except the transcript.

Why do you want to leave your family behind? Spouse/family visa is actually more stressful than PR visa.

It is better you do the application together now except you are single.

Please does Australia have settlement plans like Canada? I mean a group that ensures their PR immigrants settle-in by providing training ( usually free) on courses , mentoring, etc?

Well, each state has group where assistance is offered. Alternatively, you can contact the Nigerian Association in your state for assistance.
