Thank you. I am actually asking for a friend. He was talking about Canada but i told him he has better chances in AUS than Canada due to age. He is into Fund transfer though i didn't see any job title like that in the occupation list

You can ask about his spouse's occupation. The spouse may be in a better position as the principal applicant.

Good evening house, I have a degree in English Language and one year experience(Nysc) working as an office assistant. Can I try at all?

There is no occupation to align your current experience with at the moment. Other option is to apply through study and work your way to permanent resident.

Hello guys pls I need suggestions. I'm currently in Australia studying for my master's degree (on student visa). I got a positive assessment outcome from vettasses for my nominated occupation (Valuer) after I assessed with my Naija B.Sc.(in Estate management). I'm 30yrs old.

The thing now is, I don't know if I should go ahead with the process of applying for any of the 190/189/491 visas or should I wait and finish up my studies (I hv a yr to finish) so I can get the 2yrs study-in-Australia point. Since I've got no points to claim for work experience. Based on my total point estimate, I stand at 65.

cc @bellong

You are onshore, you cannot apply for 190 or 489/491 for now because no state will sponsor you if you live outside their state. Your state of residence will not likely nominate you except you have a qualification from the state or you are currently working in the nominated occupation in the state.

Your option is to put in your EOI and keep waiting till the possibility of Home Affairs inviting 65 points for your occupation.

@Benrichard,

What do you do for LGSC? Your job descriptions will determine your occupation. What you are currently worrying about is the least of your worries.

If you can provide your roles there, I can give you idea of what to do.

Hello Bellong and other AUS people, i greet una ooo

Please what are the chances of a banker with 8 years experience and about 40 years of age, B.Sc to migrate to Australia? I know for Canada, Age will practically make it impossible. How does Australia PR work? I heard the change the requirements often. Please i just need a brief summary. Thanks

It depends on what you do in the bank. If your job descriptions in the bank align with any of the sponsored occupations, you have a good chance in the migration pathway.

@Psalmdara,

Do you know 'these people' that travelled to Australia with that visa personally? Or it is the story the agent told you?

Yes, people travel to Australia in numbers daily but you have to travel legally and right.

Subclass 189 is not a work visa. It is a permanent resident visa and it is not valid for two years. Since you are sure of the person and what he does, all I can do is to wish you all the best in Australia.

Hello Gurus,

Please I have BSc & MSc in Demography and Social Statistics From Obafemi Awolowo University and I have been working in a transport and logistics company for 6 years. I also have IELTS result of 7.0 Overall..... Please how can I evaluate my degrees?

What have you been working as? Which occupation on the list is related to your experience?

It is post degree work experience.

The 2 years as a technician is the first job after nysc.

After the 2 years experience, the second experience ( 6 yrs ) is an engineer experience ( was a promotion in same company )

If it is same company, you can use the experience. You just need to rearrange your CV.

@bellong, thanks sir, 6 yrs was approved for my work assessment but I only saw option for 3,5 and 8 yrs.

I don't understand what you mean by your question but I can deduce what the question means. You should pick 5 years because years of experience above 5 but less than 8 carry same points. Your 6 years experience sits in the 5 year block.

Hello everyone,

Quick one. Is it late to start processing for 190 or 189 subclass? I intend to submit my Engineer Australia assessment application in two weeks time. All things being equal I can get 75points , as i have 3 yrs engineering experience and I’m under 30

Or should I chill for the 491?

Kindly advice

There is no point waiting. The earlier you submit for assessment, the better.

Only 489 will be replaced, 190 will still continue.
Travel / Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by bellong: 2:55am On Aug 26, 2019
@dayod12,

The last part of your comment is unnecessary because you agreed to be paid by hand when you joined the company.

You can get an affidavit from your employer explaining you were paid cash when you started working with them. They will include why they were paying you cash and when they starter paying to your bank account.

You will get employment reference letter detailing your current job descriptions to show what you currently do.

If you cannot provide evidence of payment for your work experience, your experience may likely be cut to the years you have evidence. The other option is to pay your tax out of pocket. You can visit the Inland revenue officer of your state for more information.

Now, my question is that I have an official 6 years experience as an engineer ( from my employment letter ), and 2 years experience as technician in the same engineering field, before becoming an engineer.

Would both the 2 years and the 6 years amount to the required 8 years needed to claim the maximum points for experience? Will engineers Australia accept a combination of both to amount to the 8 years required?

The two years, is it pre or post-degree qualification?

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Quick question, how do one knows what TIER their institution falls under using Australia standard. I.e. Lagos State Polytechnic and Joseph Ayo Babalola University

Lagos State Polytechnic - Advanced Diploma.

JABU - Depends on number of years of your degree.. A 4 year course will likely be Associate degree.

Thanks for the info. Yes the nomination is from the same occupation list but the institution is a Tier 2 university (if I got you right, You said a 4 year degree is classified as Tier 2) I will check out the Earth science technician as u suggested thanks

@ Bellong, can someone with a third class degree in Geology from a Fed University with at least three years experience get a positive result from Vetasses ? This is just to claim point for spouse skills .

The skills assessment does not care about the class of degree applicants graduated with. The key point is if the Federal University is classified as a Tier 1 university.

For spouse point, are you nominating occupation from the same occupation list?

If her Federal university is classified as a Tier 2 university, it is better your spouse nominates Earth science technician.

Cool.
I thought the 489 also allows one to stay in any regional area since the requirements for 887 is work and live in a regional area.

With 489, you have to apply for a release from your regional sponsor before you can move to another regional area. The new 491, there is no need for any application.

Hello, I need some clarification on the second question. Will i answer Yes ?

If part of your work experience was approved during assessment, the answer will be yes.

I do not understand how you guys manifest the fruit of the spirit with the attitude you display here.

Despite the claim of knowledge of the scriptures, yet you can't show basic courtesy and respect for each other. Comparing scriptures with scriptures shouldn't be done with insults and jabs, it is not Christ-like. Such behaviour is filled with strife and desire to be heard.

It is good to educate each other but when it is filled with insults, side jabs, it is no longer education or admonishment but fleshly desire to show superiority.

We are not so learned of Christ. Please if you cannot discuss without insult or name-calling, there is no point to hold such discussion.

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV

Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

After Calculating the months, I will be having complete eight years of working experiences in April 2020. Do I need to wait for the next eight month before claiming the point?

It is strictly your decision if you want to wait for 8 months to claim experience points or you want to apply now.

I can't make that decision for you.

Thanks for the clarification, although there will always be loophole (s) to exploit. I was only wondering why they wouldn't want one to get married simply because one is holding a visa. We'll see how it goes by November 16.

In another news, I received commencement email for CO allocation yesterday.

As long as the marriage will not take you away from the regional area before 3 years, they are fine with it.

The 491 regional scheme is better as it offers the opportunity to move to any regional area across Australia without restriction.

I'm not sure I read the bolded part in the legislation. It was only other PR visa that was stated not partner visa. Please reconfirm
@bellong

Yes, partner visa was not stated in the legislation. However, the legislation provides for additional conditions to be included when it takes effect.

The purpose of this new visa is to push people to the regional areas. Home Affairs know that a lot of people especially singles will want to circumvent the process by applying for partner visa to move to the City. I wouldn't be surprised if this condition is added to the visa when it kicks off.

I studied petroleum engineering in Ghana (4years) please I want to know if this counts as tier one or two. Also 90% of schools oversees is 4 years. Does it affect in anyways considering the tier one and two. Lastly what’s my best shot applying for a pr. I have no work experience

The tier 1 and 2 is with respect to Nigeria. It is different for other countries.

Your best shot applying is to apply. You can write your CDR as either a petroleum engineer or chemical engineer. Go to Engineer Australia website for further information and also read the thread.
