Does it mean if I am nominated by regional NSW, I can decide to move to regional WA? I await your response.... Thank u and God bless .

Yes, you read and understood right. The current 489 equally allows movement away from nominated region. However, you have to apply to move on that visa and can only move to another regional area.

Hello House, please I want to confirm what tier of university is is Modibbo Adama University of Technology is formerly known a Federal University of Technology, Yola and how many points will be assigned to B. Tech Architecture from such university, ( it's a 5 years course)

A 5 yr degree is usually equivalent to an AQF Bachelor degree.

Do one put referees:available on request in Australian CV just like we use on our Nigeria CV or we need to list the name of referees.

The issue of referee on a CV is liberal. You can either put it or use available on request. It also depends on where you applying. Some recruiters will ask for it at the point of application while others may not care until after interview and you are being considered for the position.

Referees are only needed when you are being considered for the position.

Uncle Bellong, please can you gimme more info on PTE, I wrote TOEFL and scored 111. Do you think I can improve my scores if I try PTE? Do you have any materials so I can know what the test is like?

There are loads of PTE materials on the thread. A lot of people think it is easier to net 20 points with PTE compared to others. I can't authoritatively confirm this assertion as I never had to do it.

Is it possible to get a good assessment for an engineer who is on and off on his job but during the off was doing private practice if yes his does he go about it.. Pls help..

You can write your CDR either using your experience or school project. A positive assessment is dependent on the quality of the CDR you write.

Have you found a related occupation to your experience on the list? If you have found one, for sales, marketing and customer service, you necessarily don't need qualification in that area but experience.

Is there anyone here who migrated who is running a business? All stories here so far are paid jobs employees.

There are so many people running their personal business. Setting up a business is very easy. Depending on the type of business you want to set up, government compliance is where you pay more attention to or else you enter compliance trouble.

Nevertheless, it is easy to start a business as long as you have your capital or ideas on what you want to do.

Pls what state should I nominate?

You are close to getting 20 points in English. Rewrite your English test for 20 points.

Actuarial science is a profitable occupation, don't restrict yourself to a 489 visa when you have the option of a 190 or 189.

Rewrite your English test.

@Bellong your input will be appreciated

You didn't put your age.

Age: ?
Education: 15
English: 10
Experience: 10

Total:

You definitely need to rewrite your English test for 20 points to increase your chance of being invited. With the 20 points, you can get 189 without state sponsorship provided your age points is within reach.

ACT, Victoria and Tasmania are the state's nominating Engineering Technologists. Read information about the nomination process on their respective website.

I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that. I am also so happy you came out strong and you are able to look back and pick the lessons. it will get better dear. I feel terrible complaining about somethings after reading through your story. I can't imagine myself alone with my baby...you are very strong!!!. God bless you. Hubby and I are dreading daycare for now but once he starts working we will have no option. its so expensive, the day-cares near my house are like $132 per day and in that range. Another fear I have is how my baby will be treated. I know they are nice people here but then again. please what was your experience with the day-care so far? thanks for sharing also...

Your child cannot be maltreated. Every registered childcare centre has the duty of care to provide quality and 'non-discriminatory' care for all children using the early education framework. In situation where you suspect negligence or discrimination, you will be within your rights to take it up with the centre and appropriate authority.

@Ozonechrome,

Do you mind sharing why you had issues with Centrelink registration?

Your experience will assist others in avoiding such delay in the future.

Meanwhile, being a single mother with no or little income when you arrive, you would have been entitled to family tax benefits and at least 80% of childcare support.

For others, one of the things that can delay your childcare subsidy is immunisation record. If your child's immunisation record is not up to date, the government will not provide any support under the no jab no pay policy.

When coming from Nigeria, come with your child(ren)'s immunisation record. The day you arrive if it is business hours, or following day, go to Centrelink office to kick-start Centrelink registration. Some Centrelink office do not have Medicare office co-located. You can google for Centrelink office with Medicare office nearest to you. Once you register for Medicare, you will be given a slip as an evidence of registration before you get the card in the mail. With the slip, take your child (ren) to a medical centre that offers bulk billing (with this, you don't pay any fee out of pocket). You can book for immunisation of your kids at the medical centre, make sure you go with the immunization record from Nigeria or any country of residence. The doctor will update your record on Medicare and give you appointment for the gap in the immunization. After taking the immunization, the doctor will update your child's record with Medicare which inturn will be communicated to Centrelink within 72 hours. The childcare subsidy and rebate will be approved when the immunization record is updated.

A delay in harmonising your child's immunisation record will delay your childcare subsidy which means you have to pay full cost out of pocket. Childcare cost is between $85 - $140/day depending on location, state and the centre.

Good morning Nairalanders,

Thank you for all the great work!

Please, I am a graduate of Elect Elect (B.Eng) but I have about 8years work experience in the ICT field, more related to the ANZSCO code 261111 - ICT Business Analyst.

My 8yrs experience cuts across the following: Bank - 1yr, Consulting firm - 6yrs, and my Current job - 1yr. However, my roles are still ICT-related in the firms.
I plan on submitting my ACS Assessment this coming week and I need to request Reference Letters from my organizations. I need help in the following areas:

1. Please, I would need a sample Reference Letter for ACS Assessment on ICT Business Analyst

2a. If ACS chooses to make my B.Eng Elect Elect an ICT Minor, then they will take out 5yrs from my 8yrs work experience which means I need the remaining 3yrs completely to claim my 5points for Experience. So asking for Reference Letter from my current employment is needed to make up for this 3yrs for my 5points on Experience. However, I am not sure what my boss and the HR in my current organization will think requesting a Reference Letter from them now (like I want to leave or something cry).

2b. Or can my current job's work-experience Reference Letter be sent later , once it's good enough time to request (Maybe when things are about to click), without paying a new ACS Assessment fee ?

3. Can my Reference Letter be addressed "To whom it may concern"? The reason is that I do not want it being addressed to the Australian Immigration for instance, and then, I may need to tender it maybe to the Canadian Immigration or for something else.

Thank you soo much for the anticipated responses.

CC: Alphadoor, Tred, Azy123, Trastar and other ACS crew.

Thank you so much for your reply sir.

He's a third officer on a merchant navy vessel. He's been working for over 5years and I've been working for 3years plus. I had a long study and research on the issue. I found out I could be the PA if I register as a foreign lawyer and pay the prescribed fees before applying for the PR. I would like to go for a PhD once I get the PR, I don't know if this is possible but if it is, I would be glad.
What do you think about this sir?

A ship officer is not sponsored by any state, it is difficult to nominate ship officer occupation. For Barrister or Solicitor, you will have to be called to the bar in Australia before you can be given a positive assessment for migration purpose. If you want to nominate the legal profession, you will assess with Law Society of any of the States. You will be given the courses you need to do to meet up with Australian law and legal system. When you complete the course, you will be called to the bar in that state and can now apply for PR.

Hello house, please I have a question. I went through the skilled list on sub class 189. I'm a barrister so my occupation is there, although I don't have a solid work experience.
My hubby is to be the PA. He's a ship officer on a cargo vessel but what we saw on the sub class list is ship master.
Are we still eligible? How do we go about this please?
Thanks for your response.

What is your husband's qualification?

Ship officer is not on the list and ship master is only sponsored by Northern Territory on 489 visa. NT application is a slow and long one.

What does he do on the cargo vessel? What qualification is he working with on the cargo vessel?

Cheers.

Pls guys is their anything like Australia two years working permit

It is a short term temporary work visa. It is organised through the employer and it involves a long hurdle to cross.

There is a two year work visa. However, we don't know the class that was sold to you. I will advice that you explain what prompted your question to be given right information before you enter one chance.

Oga bellong, kudos for the good job. Pls I need some clarification on my chances or which should I apply for.
I am 29 years old, bsc Pol sci 2017,Msc peace and conflict resolution 2019. I have more than 10years experience in conference and event planner, my challenge is! The experience is not based on employment, I worked with someone in an office who was the conference and event planner in the organization who pay me based on contract, I served as a teacher in my service year (Nysc). Please what are my options ?

Have you checked the occupation list to identify if any occupation that matches or is closely related to your occupation is on the list?

It is the first thing to do. For some occupations, you don't have to have qualification in the occupation.

I have 7years of experience

Does she have any building experience?

Tlontin:

She is just done with with her Nysc.. I have 3 years experience over her. Thanks for your time boss

In that case, you are better off as the primary applicant. You can't get any point from her because she doesn't have at least one year experience needed for a positive assessment as required by VETASSES.

Use the English result you have for assessment with EA then rewrite it to get good score for point.

Hi folks, I don't even know how to post in nairaland again, but I need help. Am in Brisbane for short course program in course of travelling to central Australia for field work, I lost my Nigeria passport. I need help on how to leave the country peacefully, my Visa is still valid. Also all phone numbers to high commission office are linked to voice mail. I need direct phone number of any staff at Nigeria high commission office in Canberra.

Thanks guys

First, go to the nearest police station and report it. Get a report.

Send email to the Nigeria embassy in Canberra to this address:. nhc.passport@gmail.com and you can copy this address too, nhcc.admin@foreignaffairs.gov.ng

The Nigeria embassy in Canberra responds faster to emails than phone calls. You may call forever without a response.

You can either do another passport or be issued a letter of authority to travel without a passport.

Meanwhile, you should contact immigration to update of your lost passport.

I hope you find it soon.

Goodluck
