I trying to deploy Active directory on our network of 30pc. I understand LAN very well but not on Domain controller. I tried laying my hand on the domain controller, i install win 2003 promote the server to domain but i hv a problem in understanding the DNS, forward and reserve zone. Infact i need some more insight and practical how to do step by step in installing active directory. what and what do i need to install and do to achieve a domain controller.

My objective
1 To deploy domain controller on my network
2. To make the domain controller a DHCP server

I hv tried to do some reading but i discovered that i still need some practical insight on it. please help for the gurus that are even using it on there network. God bless U ALL

You did nt profer any solution. I need a switch bc i will like to share with up to 4 desktop pc.

Is it posible to have a workgroup and domain together on a network ? I hv 10pc on workgroup in acct dept. and now they are employing 3 more which i will hve to supply systems for them making it to be 13pc on a workgroup. I learnt that 10pc is the max on a given workgroup. I need to join them on this workgroup so that they can talk to the accounting server.

I configured ftp server with win 2003, IIS v6. Disable anonymous login and no restriction on the folders using User isolation. I can access my ftp server locally withing my network but i cant login outside my network
Attempting to login outside the network, it will complain of pemission and access stuff. Gurus in The House pls help

Do i need to install any FTP software after I have install IIS and FTP application in windows server 2003 ?

Thanks Guys, Quickbooks support Multi-user and single user. It is compatible with windows. it is an application that is installed on a desktop pc. net a web base stuff.

The software have user password and log in. Even with that how do i achiev that on the network. having created the username and password on the software ?

I have an existing structured network in my company. The Account Dept introduced software QuickBooks which will be installed in a pavilion HP server and 5 intending PC to be connected to it.

The issue is- Only the Acct. dept is authorized to have access to the database. How do I do the configuration? Create an Active directory? Which I only new little about ? OR ……. Gurus please help.
