Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday became Europe’s highest ever goal scorer in international football in a Group B match between Portugal and Morocco at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium. Ronaldo achieved the feat in only the fourth minute of the match when he put Portugal in lead with a stunning header.

Incidentally, that was the only goal scored in the match as Portugal edged closer to booking their Round of 16 berth in the FIFA World Cup 2018 by winning the match 1-0. Ronaldo’s header was his 85th for his country, breaking the previous record of 84 goal of Hungary’s Puskas between 1945 and 1956. However, Ronaldo still trails Iran’s Ali Daei, who scored 109 goals in 149 appearances, in the list of all-time leading goal scorers.

There were jubilant scenes among Senegal fans on Tuesday after their side secured a 2-1 victory over Poland in their World Cup opener, in the process becoming the first African team to win at this year’s tournament in Russia.

But while supporters could have been forgiven for celebrating in the stands with reckless abandon, videos have instead been going viral showing fans methodically cleaning up after themselves in the emptying stadium.

One clip shared by the Argentinian TV channel TyC Sports showed fans scouring the stands for rubbish and assembling it in a single pile. It has been viewed more than four million times.

For the umpteenth time, a containerised truck Tuesday fell off Ojuelegba bridge, crushing some motorists and pedestrians who were passing under the bridge.

The incident, which happened at about 8.30pm, saw the truck veer off its tracks before tumbling down the bridge like a pack of badly stacked cards.

A successful US rapper who attracted controversy after multiple accusations of domestic violence has been shot dead in Florida.

XXXTentacion, real name Jahsen Onfroy, was shot dead just before 4pm (2000 GMT) Monday after two suspects approached him as he was leaving a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, the Broward County sheriff’s office said.

“At least one of the suspects fired a gun striking Onfroy. Both of the suspects fled in a dark-colour SUV. Investigators say it appears to be a possible robbery,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement posted to its Twitter account.

The 20-year-old was taken to Broward Health North hospital where he was pronounced dead.

XXXTentacion released his first song using the online platform Soundcloud in 2014, becoming popular in the Soundcloud rap scene which has also given rise to artists including Lil Peep and Playboi Carti.

As a young child, I spent some of my idle time ransacking my parents’ wardrobes, closets, and bags. With effect from July 2018, contributors to Nigeria’s contributory pension scheme (CPS) will now have options regarding how their contributions are invested and have the prerogative to direct their Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) to invest their pension contributions in line with these options.

Since 2004, when the CPS was introduced, the pension contributions of active contributors (those still in service) have been managed by their respective PFAs in a Single Investment Fund with the PFA choosing the actual portfolio composition and investment instruments in line with the Regulations for Investment of Pension Funds issued by the National Pension Commission (PenCom).

With the new Multi-Fund Structure to be implemented from July 2018, three distinct Investment Funds will be available to active contributors called Fund I, Fund II, and Fund III, while the retirees managed by the PFAs will be placed in Fund IV. The core difference between the distinct Funds will be the amount of risk inherent in each fund driven by the minimum and maximum amounts of variable income instruments that each Fund can contain based on the Investment Regulations.
