Joyce2020: Hi, you will have to formally adopt her, get the court papers to prove this then add her to your application like any other family member. Once she crosses 21 years of age, she will have to apply on her own and cannot come as your dependent. |

Eichie123: Now that you know that what you have, that is, your visa is not valid to work with here or get a job, you can decide to get a permanent resident visa through Express Entry if you have relevant work experience or pursue admission to a school and get a student visa. You can join the Express Entry thread or the Canadian student threads on Nairaland, all the best ahead. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Eichie123: Did you get your TRV on the basis of student status? You could apply for a post graduate work permit after your programme. There are a number of ways to apply for a work permit and you could find all the relevant info you need at this link, https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/permit.html 4 Likes 2 Shares |

wisdom77: Hi, further to TheCongo2's response above, you will have to formally adopt the child in Nigeria and receive 'leave to remove' the minor from the country (this is evidenced through the adoption papers). Even where you have the express consent of the child's parents to take the child, in the absence of the formal adoption papers and inclusion of the child in your immigration application, Canada will not process the application unless the needful is done. If you're serious, initiate the adoption process now as you plan to process/submit your immigration application. 5 Likes |

fnor: It is simpler to just send the PR card to him through family/friends travelling back home when it's ready. My wife just returned home for a visit yesterday and took PR vards for a family of five back to them. Customs sometimes intercept PR cards inside courier packages and send them back to IRCC, fear of 'Nigerian boys'. So look for trusted family and/or friends to take your husband's PR card back to him. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Hi Canadian family, wishing everyone a great long weekend as we're set to celebrate Victoria Day on Monday. For those in the GTA, you could check out Nathan Philips Square in Toronto this weekend where they are hosting Urbani_T, a free outdoor event celebrating fashion shows, design workshops, music and art installations with pop up shops and food trucks. I got these few pics this morning as they were setting up for it. 10 Likes

rainazoe: Well, you're required to provide a list of all goods accompanying you on your landing trip especially if they have appreciable value to avoid getting taxed on them. Any goods you bring on subsequent trips could be taxed, operative word being 'could'. What people do is to get a list of goods coming later, that is, 'goods to follow' and present during short landing so that when you are finally set to come fully, those goods will escape the tax hammer. Hope this clarifies your question. 6 Likes 4 Shares |

Eichie123: Sorry but you cant work in Canada with a Temporary Resident Visa, it's a visit/tourist visa and no employer will give you a job since you don't have a Social Insurance Number. Unless you want to do undocumented, under-the-table, factory/farm work runs and if caught, it's deportation and ban on future visa applications. You can follow the Nairaland thread on Express Entry for Skilled workers for guidance on how to get a PR visa with which you can work and live in Canada legally, https://www.nairaland.com/4472519/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled 6 Likes 1 Share |

Yahwehgbemi: Immigration consultants or agents must be members of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council to represent anyone for the sake of immigration to Canada. If you can not find their name on the list at this official link for registered Immigration consultants in Canada, they are fakes - http://secure.iccrc-crcic.ca/search-new/EN Note that it is an offense punishable by Canadian law for anyone to provide Canadian immigration services for a fee or other consideration if they are not regulated by ICCRC, a Canadian law society, or the Chambre des notaires du Québec. TheCanadianDrm: Hi, the 'potential concern' comment made is just an observation by the review officer, it's not a death sentence and it's not an application deal breaker. A review supervisor will take a further look at all you have provided and what is required for situations involving adopted children. You are clearly in the right with all you have done in law and as per CIC requirements and you have the express, documented consent of the biological parent. The child is your child in every sense of the word and relationship and with all you have put in place, I don't see any impediment to the successful completion of your PR application process for your whole family. As has already been rightly pointed out to you, please attach any other evidences of relationship you might have and relax. A few of us are already looking forward to meeting you and your family here, I trust this helps 3 Likes |

Adedamdam: Under the Canadian Access to Information and Privacy Act, the IRCC has to respond to a request for GCMS notes within 30 days. However, 40 to 50 days is the average processing time after taking into consideration the workload on different offices and the number of pending requests. It may end up being more as peoples files are all different. |

amindondee: Hi, there's really no special way to verify your MBA. You just follow the procedure for getting an ECA like any other degree. This link will show you the steps to verify the MBA, https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/become-candidate/eligibility/education-assessed.html If it's from a Nigerian school, you may have to make some effort to follow up with the relevant department in your school to ensure your transcript is ready and the process can be seamless. Some schools are more organised than others hence the need to follow up. You could follow and read up on this thread to see the experiences of others in getting their degrees verified, https://www.nairaland.com/4212543/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled |

WoodcrestMayor: To the gentleman who is getting the responses above, there`s really nothing more that needs to be added as every single person who has replied you so far has spoken great wisdom so please sit up. You are holding onto a sense of security that does not take into account what Canada has to offer you. In your specific interest and the general interest of your family, have a rethink and look towards Canada. Like we say in Ontario, `it`s yours to discover`. All the best ahead. 18 Likes 2 Shares |
