Nairaland / General / 15 Things You Shouldn't Do In Public. by Blackpearlous(f): 8:20am On Jul 16, 2020
I am certain that almost all of "us" reading this post will be guilty of one or two on this list("us"- I am included too), if you are not guilty lemme know in the comment section.

TALK LOUDLY ON THE PHONE
This is so common in Nigeria, everyone is shouting in the vehicle about their business and family issues or something much more private, that public ears should have no share in it. If you are to receive a call in a loud place that would need you to shout, please stall till you get to a private place or ask to converse via texting.

GROOM YOURSELF
Now I'm guilty in this, most of us tend to want to adjust something in public and it is seen as normal but it's actually embarrassing and shows we are not cultured. I was out recently and I had to apply a little bit of make up on my face before I alighted from the vehicle, it should be done in a bathroom or a private place. Some of us pick our nose in public, adjust our underwears in public(women!!!), I have seen someone cut his fingernails in a restaurant, are you serious? Stop brushing your teeth in the middle of the road please. Thank you.

EAT
Guilt as charged, sometimes I will dump culture one side and eat in public, it's a weakness I'm working on, have you seen fresh corn on fire before, I will just weak. It's a work in progress but it's not cultured to eat in public, you should eat while sitting in private or in a restaurant and don't open your mouth while chewing please. Don't eat in public again. I'm changing!

COUGH UP PHLEGM LOUDLY
I am rolling my eye now, you shouldn't do that, it's gross and makes others uncomfortable. Don't you know the sound makes the listener imagine your phlegm in their mouth too. Eww.

DISPOSING WASTE IMPROPERLY
Stop disposing waste improperly, done with your gala? Keep it in your purse or pocket or wallet, don't drop it on the floor or throw it over the window, who trained you? ( Easy for me to say because I have change that about myself.)

Change diapers.
I won't say more than, DON'T DO IT AGAIN.

Fight on the street
Biko, be more cultured and control your anger. Don't even argue in public, you and your girl are having issues we don't want to know, argue at home. Don't fight a girl for taking your bf in public, you are embarrassing yourselves, if someine slaps you walk away, respect your self.

Changing your cloths or going naked.
I see this new trend of exposing your butt in a supermarket or some other place and recording it, this is bad. Social media is the new public DON'T GO NAKED ON SOCIAL MEDIA, you are not cultured and you lack manners abeg. Don't change your cloths in public, you are not a baby that it will be cute to see your bum, it's not cute it's erotic and things like that are done In private. I'm done.

Sing.
I used to think I had a wonderful voice so I sing while using my earpiece, that just wrong, I know it's sweet to do but please stop singing in public only if you are on stage.

Talk to yourself
This is weird, internalize your thoughts, that's how human beings do.

Don't pee in public.
GUYS!!! Have self control, get to a bathroom before you pee. Don't just go looking for one corner and expect people to pass casually. It's not proper to urinate in public ladies and gentlemen.

Pass gas.
Fart geng, it is impolite to pass gas in public, it's not a competition we are not interested In smelling your colon. Excuse yourself and pass gas properly, if it happens by mistake, apologise and stop expecting people to suspect the least dressed.

Stare
It is very rude to stare at people in public, only if your babe is coming and looking very attractive and you want her to feel it as she is coming towards you, if she is not your babe don't stare especially on a first date. Learn not to stare, even if you are a mother and want your child to know they there is problem when you get home.

Spitting.
Only if you have been casted as a native doctor in a Nollywood movie, stop spitting in public it's a dirty attitude.

I know you are guilty of one or ten. Let me know which of "THEM"

Are you living abroad?

Do you want to own a property in Nigeria or you own already?

Are you doubting what is happening and need evidence that your work is going on?

Good! Recently I helped a client get a property in Nigeria, she currently lives in USA and I was excited that with the help of my lawyer we could get the property and scan documents, have video calls and still get a satisfied client and successful transaction.

I realize that most people abroad don't trust people at home because even relatives can be dubious. That's why we at Aréte wants to offer just integrity and honesty, I'm sure we might be looked down on for starting off like this but it's sincerity we have to offer.

You can check up on your property without informing any relative, to confirm the supposed work or ask an external lawyer to review the documents sent to you. Or we can acquire properties for you without any fear.

Family / Simple Confidence Tools. by Blackpearlous(f): 7:04am On Jul 10, 2020
Most of the times I walk into a room and I get admired for being confident grin, You should see me meet new people, I enjoy it and walk in like I know you, not like I have to talk to everyone but a fair share of I'm warm and I'm myself, but see me at home I'm someone else tongue, I'm reserved and shy and pretty much a picture of a not-so-confident individual.

That's how it is like for most of us wink, we don't have a confidence problem everywhere but a confidence problem somewhere, you might be confident in reality and lack confidence online lipsrsealed, you might be confident among your friends and lack confidence before a stranger cry. You are confident but you're are reading this because you lack confidence in some aspect of your life. Here are some non-magical but realistic tips you can use as a tool to inflating your tire of confidence.

¶Tool one - Get a journal smiley

You might have one already or not, and you like get a journal for what? Yea, get a journal or it's equivalence to keep records. You have to get to know yourself, a journal helps you achieve that, it shouldn't be used to record evil like a black book or death note, no not this journal, it should be used to record your journey. In this journal you have to
- highlight the area you have confidence
- and areas you don't have self confidence
- know why you lack confidence in that area
- what have you done to deal with your lack of confidence.

For example in my journal it's like this.
•I have confidence outside my home
•I lack confidence at home
•I always get this bad energy from my parents majorly because I made a mistake years ago and that made them lose trust in me
•I try to be invisible in the house to prevent clashes.

From this I know basically I haven't done anything about my relationship with my parents other than run away.

You have to be extremely honest in your journal.

¶Tool Two - Your perspective must change - Don't expect the situation to change but plan to change. cool

If for example you lack confidence at work, stop expecting that Co worker to leave your work place so you can regain your confidence, it's your confidence you will have to fix it. This stand point is very important because if your co worker leave you didn't work on your confidence, (if you are abused and you have the opportunity to leave an environment of abuse to heal please do) there are people else where like your co worker, boss, parents, wife, landlord etc you have to be on a stand point of working on your confidence. You don't have to run away when you see your landlord passing even if you owe, you can handle it better. This perspective will make you responsible for your confidence and build it like Rome(and it wasn't built in a day)

¶Tool Three - Groom yourself. tongue
Can I get a megaphone here please. "Good morning people, I come with the message that can transform your life" " GROOM YOURSELF".
Yes groom yourself.
After writing in your journal and taking responsibility for your confidence, it's time for this baby to grow up, groom yourself, write out your weakness and shortcomings, make conscious efforts to being Better.
With my parents I realize that I'm not really an honest person that's why I always had issues and it was true so I worked on my integrity and didn't expect them to change, I saw myself better even when misunderstood so gradually they saw me better.
You owe your landlord, maybe you need to make better financial choices, work on that and see how your confidence increases even in the same house.
At work, your let people talk down on you, and need to be more assertive, note that and work on it. Then you see you rise with confidence like flour dough with yeast.

¶Tool Four - Small steps. kiss

All what I listed before must be considered as small steps, a website is built with little steps. Deal with the little and basic ones first before the big ones because your small wins will boost your big wins. Change the little you can about yourself and watch yourself become a stronger person in character.

Small steps can involve you saying no to that friend that gives you financial burdens and the big step can be saying no when you don't want to have sex. Your friend will be the stepping stone to being more vocal.

If you feel frustration, start from tool one again, till you achieve what you want.

These are not all the tools you need but these tools worked for me. Go for knowledge and equip yourself with more tools, I hope you came by an handy tool, lemme know in the comment below, which tool you have used before or you are planing on using. Stay confident!

N.B - My parents and I now are chilling, feeling like a good child.

Hello guys, i created a new account for this purpose. I need your advice. I am going to be 25 years old in a few months time but i am currently not in any relationship. in fact i have not being in any relationship since my former boyfriend broke up with me, two years ago. i moved to a new city early 2019, and have been working there now for almost two years, but no one has seem to pick interest in me. Sometimes, guys start to pick interest but the moment i show that i'm interested, they just back off. It gets lonely atimes and i have been tempted to get back together with my ex, but it did not last because i could not let go of how much he had hurt me in the past. I do not know what to do anymore, but i am scared, i do not want to be alone when i am 30. I am not desperate, but i just want to know if there are other ladies in my shoes. I don't really go out apart from work, weddings and church, i'm an indoor type. I have been advised to go out and hangout more, but that's just not me. Please help, am i the only one in this position?

Lemme be your friend if you are in Lagos, send me a mail and we can be friends online and I can help you with somethings.

I am active member here, reason for the pseudo account.

Long post alert :

Modified : the content of the chat I had with my colleague was about my fiance and there were so many provoking words in it, reason i did what i did because I never intended hurting him

The content of the chat might be the truth you havent told him or should tell him.

Your fiance doesn't have admirable characters in the relationship o, leaving you for months over baby issues.

Maybe you need to be entirely honest with him, but I don't know what is in the chat so I am careful to give my advise.

My opinion is that you like the idea of marrying that fiance so you don't always tell him the entire truth when he messing up but you can tell someone else, if you can't discuss all his fault with him, I don't think it's appropriate discussing with anyone else.

I don't want two friends talking about my faults because I have them esp if on one has said it to me the way they discussed it, I will feel betrayed.

If the chat is just blunt about his attitude alone show him and be very honest about how you feel, if it is more about that and involves his secrets, I don't advise showing him might be too painful.

Hello, please I have a friend with a problem and need your help urgently.

Hey bro, it has happened again. Dad tried to beat mum again today and I stood up to him for the first time. I told him if he tried it that I would deal with him, he was in shock at first, then he told me to do my worst and continued beating mom. I then looked and saw a hammer, then I took it and threatened to hit him with it, but he ignored me completely.

I then came closer to him and he didn't flinch, then I actually hit him. He fainted briefly and after waking up, he has been threatening me that he'll call police by the time he fully recovers. He said he can't raise a tiger in his house. If I'm a tiger then what is he?

He might take a few days to recover, he has a serious injury to the head (bandaged and sewn up by my mum, she is a nurse) and currently under drip. I actually didn't mean to hit him, I just wanted him to stop hitting mum. Mum says I should apologise but I can't, because the truth is I'm not sorry. I feel like if I apologise, he is going to do it again.

Please what should I do? Should I run away from my father's house? I'm only 16 and I don't know how to live in the streets and don't have any friends here either since we only moved in shortly before the lockdown.
My friend please help me...

P.S: Rather that troll, just jejely scroll and pass; nevertheless, I need your honest opinions. He is following this thread so please be responsible, he's just 16.

You should apologise for using an hammer on your dad, you don't want to be that kind of man it is not ok to hit someone like that ok?

Now snap your mum if there is an injury (keep the evidence when things gets heated.), he won't arrest you.

Oyindamolah:
Assume you had a hectic day at work. When you return home ,you are bored to death and do not want to do anything; not even hang out with your best buddies or call your parents for usual chitchat.
Now the only option left is to sleep but to your poor luck you aren't sleepy either . Thus ,you decide to watch something relaxing and you have these options:
a. Comedy nights or sme comedy skit on vskit
b. F.R.I.E.N.D.S
c. Sherlock Holmes
d .either a or b

I am sure most of us in above situation would choose the answer '' d ''. Its simple because they are comedy shows and they make us laugh and laughing is so much easy , it doesn't tax our brain and comes naturally to us. No doubt, laughter is a great stress buster. It energizes us and produces a general sense of well being.
I personally believe: ''You laugh more and smile easily when you are happy. Similarly, when you laugh more and smile easily ,you become happy .''

Now, coming to the answer to the above question:

Everyone wants to live a happy and a fun filled life and laughter makes life easier. It breaks the invisible wall between two people. When you laugh together the fear of judgment vanishes, closeness develops and joy evolves. Thus a man who has a good sense of humor built-in him will have an upper hand over his counterparts.Girls will choose those who make them feel relaxed and be themselves than those who are dashingly handsome or extremely brainy .

Next time when you wonder why girls fall for funny guys ,remind yourself the old Hindi saying " Hasse toh phasee ''.

I would choose Sherlock Holmes abeg and F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Looking for a very funny skit is work

Ghenisean:
Do you think listening to normal circular music as sin or wrong for a Christian I'm not a churchy or religious person,I go to church, pray, not that I scream out loud when praying in church or home but I do pray and communicate with my heavenly father,I'm also not a Christ Embassy Member but I study my ROR as much as I could while going into the bible for the scrpitural reference too,I'm not all perfect but I've lived my life in the best way and right path that anyone could I must say, although as a human I also have my little lapses here and there.
But,I love Hip Hop so much,I don't like Afro music that much,I play and even rap my Hip Hop songs like Meek Mill,Lil Wayne,Roddy Rich,Rick Ross etc, do you think it is right or if it's a sin for a Christian to ? undecided undecided

It not a sin against God for you to listen to secular song.

Might be a sin against some Christain's ear.

And some songs might be offensive to you.

Just like it's not a sin to drink alcohol but you are cautioned not to be drunk, you can listen to secular songs the caution should be don't listen to ones that sponsor Immorality.

It's not wrong to read novels or watch videos that are not "gospel" but it's not helpful for you to wat h pornography or read romantic novels. Ok?

Is dancing bad? No but it's not profitable to twerk if you are keeping pure. You go to work na bit you can't do all jobs that's secular.

The Holy spirit is not mad when you hear secular song and it is not killing angels too, so dance shake your head and enjoy your music.
