Anambra election: Why residents must vote against APC on Saturday – Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, on Thursday urged teachers in Anambra State to vote against the All Progressives Congress, APC, during Saturday’s governorship election.

Fayose said teachers should run away if they heard the word APC.

He said this in Onitsha, Anambra State during the grand finale of the governorship rally, monitored by DAILY POST.

The governor also faulted President Muhammadu Buhari for backing the sack for teachers.

According to Fayose, “Teachers if you hear APC run, how can a governor announce sack of 22,000 teachers and they are backed by the president.

“If you see them run because they out for sack.

“Saturday’s election is bomber to bomber, if you see anybody, police officer rigging snap and sent the picture to Channels, AIT for the world to see.”

Fayose also warned people of the state against voting APC, saying “they have no answer to anything, I told you people.”

Frontline aspirant into the office of National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Mohammed Kabir Usman has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of conniving with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig the forth-coming gubernatorial elections in Anambra State.

Speaking earlier today on Africa Independent Television (AIT) breakfast political show Kakaaki, Barr. Kabir Usman who observed that there may be no elections in Anambra State since Nigerians have no confidence in the integrity of the forthcoming governorship polls, accused top officials of INEC, notably Amina Zakari, a national commissioner, of working closely with the APC to ensure that a predetermined outcome is achieved.

According to Barr. Kabir Usman, “as at now, Amina Zakari is in the same hotel with the APC candidate hence we have no faith in the outcome of that elections.

‎

“Strong controversies have always trailed any election conducted by Amina Zakari and in a decent society, no umpire in an election should reside in the same location with a frontline candidate who has an interest in the election. Not only is Amina Zakari in the same hotel which serves as a make-shift secretariat of the APC in Anambra State, the hotel is owned by Tony Nwoye who is also contesting the elections and lives in the same hotel”, he said.

Barr. Kabir Usman who was the Zonal Legal Adviser of the PDP (North Central) for eight years also stressed that governors of the APC have contributed N100 million each towards ensuring that the Anambra election is manipulated.

Emeka Ojukwu jnr, son of the founder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, late Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Mr. Ojukwu made his declaration on Wednesday in Awka, at the grand finale campaign of the APC candidate for the Anambra 2017 governorship election, Tony Nwoye.

President Muhammadu Buhari, APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, 12 APC governors, National Assembly members in the party, among other party big wigs, witnessed the event.

According to him, his decision to join the party was to protect the interest of the Igbos.

Mr. Ojukwu, who was adorned in a toga of his new party, said it was time for the people of the South-east region to move from “the recession of the periphery to the centre.”

“It is time to leave the shadows for light. Every now and then, they come out with my father’s shadow to confuse the people,” he said.

According to him, APGA is a means to an end but not an end itself.

He said the reason why his father joined the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in the Second Republic was to ensure that Igbo people remained in the mainstream of Nigerian politics.

“Mr. President, I am proud to stand here today in support of you and in solidarity with the APC and our candidate, Tony Nwoye,” he added.

The APC national chairman presented the party symbol to him and described the rally as “another historic campaign.”

Mr. Oyegun recalled that Mr. Buhari made history when he unseated the incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, saying that the same feat would be achieved in Anambra 2017 governorship election.

The national chairman urged the people of the state to vote en mass for the party and Mr. Nwoye at the Saturday poll.
