Politics / Breaking! Many Nigerians Are In Distress A Because Of Internanational by Bolatit123(f): 6:21pm On May 20, 2020 |
Many Nigerians are in distress and verge of suicide because of international passport renewal abroad right now. My friend in particular is in distress right now. She made every arrangements to travel to a nearby country to renew her passport before the lockdown. Now everything is gone. This is someone that barely feed because Covid-90 hardship, now passport expiration problems. Nigeria should be proactive like other countries. A lot of people I know are in the same situation right now. All Nigerians abroad have their data stored in the Nigerian immigration database. Why not simply call up the data, modify the date, print and send to the person while she/he bear the delivery cost? Why should people keep on suffering on simple things. Individual bio-metrics never change. One's age never change, finger prints and other individual attributes never change. Emulate other good things from other countries not only negatives. 1 Like |
Education / Urgent! Many Nigerian Students Abroad Are Stranded And Frustrated Right Now by Bolatit123(f): 6:27am On May 11, 2020 |
With the current international travel restrictions, Nigerian government should order its various embassies or consulate to allow it's citizens whose international passport has expired or about to expire to renew their internal passports without visiting any embassy or consulate since everybody with the current digital passport has his/her data stored by the Nigerian immigration. As lockdowns are gradually being eased-down by various countries, Nigerians residing in countries where there is no Nigerian embassy or consulate should be able to renew their international passport in a nearby embassy or consulate without being present. People from countries like India and others countries don't need to visit their embassy or consulate to renew their international travel documents even before the lockdown. All they need to do is to apply for it and pay a delivery fee. Despite the lockdown, international delivery services are still permitted. Only first-time applicants or extreme cases should be allowed to visit the embassy or consulate. This will in-turn reduce congestion and save costs. I know many Nigerians whose International passport expired or about to expire including students during this period who are currently stranded or frustrated. Essentials should be moved online as other countries are doing. 1 Like |

MetaPhysical: You are deviating from the topic. We are not talking about national database here. Nigerian immigration has the data of every Nigerian with an international passport. They should use it to reproduce or renew passports in this period instead of frustrating people. Go through posts above, you'll discover that a lot of people are in this problem right now. If something is not done urgently, they'll be calamity. 1 Like |

rationalhuman: The purpose of visiting the embassy is to recapture what is already in the database. This should only be applicable if there is an extreme modification in ones appearance or a first timer. |

rationalhuman: There is no big deal in this. Nigerians data are already in the immigration database. All you need to do is to call it up, update the date and print. No complex process or digitization is involved here. |

MetaPhysical: You are not considerate here. It takes a lot for an ordinary hustling student to process visa to a nearby country just to renew a passport that could be done with a twinkle of eye. My friend spent a lot of money to secure a nearby country's visa, booked air ticket, paid for accommodation and still couldn't go because of Covid-19. She lost everything. Her Indian friends have advised her to do it online as other countries now do but will Nigerian government permit it? Nobody is ruling out the processing fees. You have her data already in your system. Why all these unnecessary protocol and humiliations? The girl in question is at the verge of suicide. Other people including students are in this situation right now. How do you think they will feel about their country? Modes move this to the front page. Something should be done urgently. |
