"So, while Egypt has a hunger level considered moderate, Nigeria is in the league of 20 hungriest countries in the world, with a hunger level considered serious. Egypt, without facing severe hunger, and not in the list of hungriest nations, exported over 9 Billion dollars of agricultural products in 2023.

May I also point out that our grains donor, Ukraine, still maintains a hunger level considered low, with a ranking of 44th on the global hunger index, 7th highest grain producer, exporting almost 23 Billion Dollars, despite years of war!

The situation is actually painful because we have all it takes to even surpass Ukraine in grain production if we were a more serious and productive nation. The vast arable lands in the North, if put into productive use, will not only give us sufficient food for local consumption, but even the surplus for export.

Hypocrite Obidients forming vexing because the Ukraine give you free food?

Russia & Ukraine are giving out free grain to African countries for cohesion of their support, you say make we reject am?

The FG as an entity does not own land. Except in the FCT so the lands in the 36 other states belong to the states. Do it make sense for us to improve food production we should channel our anger towards our state Governors and not Mr President.

Politics / Re: Gov Mutfwang Appoints 16 Ousted PDP Lawmakers In Plateau As Liaison Officers by Burob: 3:24pm On Mar 05
kahal29:
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, takes a strategic move by appointing sixteen former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Assembly lawmakers who lost their seats due to a Court of Appeal ruling. These lawmakers have been appointed as liaison officers for their respective constituencies, in a bid to harness their expertise and bridge communication gaps at the grassroots level.

The decision comes after the Court of Appeal nullified their election victories in November 2023, citing PDP’s disqualification to sponsor candidates. Despite their dismissal, these lawmakers have remained resolute in their pursuit to reclaim their seats, seeking a judicial review of the ruling. Their attempts to regain entry into the Plateau State House of Assembly were met with resistance from the incumbents who benefited from the court’s decision.

Recent developments saw the appellate court dismissing the lawmakers’ lawsuit and imposing a hefty fine of N128 million for what was deemed a frivolous legal challenge. Despite this setback, Governor Mutfwang has extended a hand of reconciliation by appointing these lawmakers to serve as liaison officers, fostering inclusivity and cooperation in governance.

Timothy Dantong, representing Riyom constituency and one of the affected PDP lawmakers, clarified their stance amidst the legal complexities. He emphasized that their case has not been adjudicated upon and expressed confidence in pursuing legal recourse to vindicate their cause.

Dantong’s remarks shed light on the intricacies of the legal proceedings, highlighting procedural irregularities and the lawmakers’ determination to seek justice. Despite the challenges, the ousted lawmakers remain steadfast in their resolve to assert their rights and challenge the court’s decision.

Governor Mutfwang’s gesture of appointing the sacked lawmakers underscores a pragmatic approach to governance, aiming to harness diverse talents and perspectives for the collective benefit of Plateau State. As the legal battle continues, the appointment of these lawmakers serves as a testament to the governor’s commitment to fostering unity and inclusive governance in the state.

This is how good criticism should be done.

It is quite disturbing to see the dimension of opposition criticism has taken in Nigeria, resulting in hate speech, blatant lies, and outright misleading comments.

Peter Obi and his Obidients can do better than they are presently doing, with his recent attack on the government for the UN donation of wheat purchased from Ukraine to support Nigeria, one can see the dangerous role Obi is playing and being cheered by his thoughtless followers.

Such statement should be frowned upon and it would be necessary if DSS invited him and cautioned him to limit his instigation, after all, Anambra where he ruled doesn't produce wheat to service his state in a federation where agriculture is on the concurrent list.

The government should be ready to stamp out corruption from our institutions and strengthen its policies. The former British commissioner is one point on this

Nigerians like shinny projects and don't care about their viability

Nigerians need to go and watch 2019 Osibanjo vs Peter obi debate again... That was were obi won me over

You don't develop by building infrastructure, malls, rail system etc

You develop by investing in your people access to credit, building basic needed infrastructure like few roads, hospitals and schools

Once the population is rich enough infrastructure would naturally come up
