Politics / Re: Adeyemi Ikuforiji (Lagos Speaker) In EFCC Custody Over 7 Billion Naira Fraud by busayodot: 12:32am On Apr 13, 2013
Hey, we all seem sentimental talking about this case. Let's face it critically, would it be possible to get that kind of funds with his office without due process? I don't think so. LAHA are law makers mainly, if there are proof of these allegations, they should let us know, then we can start crucifying him. Have we asked ourselves the question of why the EFCC keeps skipping the court dates and we keep hearing of adjournments all the time? Since 2011, they've been playing seeking for adjournment. I do no think this represents the EFCC well. My recommendation is that they should come up with all they have and finish the case and if they've been trying to spoil the man's name, they should just withdraw the case for clarity.
To the house, pls stop calling yourselves names or be abusive, it isn't civil. Let's be objective and analytic. This man had traffic conviction in the US, that is not heavy for me as in the US depending on the state it's hard not to get in the way of traffic laws but for the other conviction, could someone get more facts for us to check so we don't just assume from what someone said.
Thanks house

Hey, the minimum qualification is the secondary school degree, so relax and stop being confused. Go with every document you have but only show the ones that is being asked and also tell the truth about your present schooling, your case seems very easy and good so relax.

Ezeigbollo: Please house, can some one please help to confirm if this is the right address for American Embassy (EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES
VISA UNIT) 2 ELEKE CRESCENT PO BOX 554 LAGOS NIGERIA 234-1-610-097.

A friend tried to confuse me by saying it was a scam address that the right address is 2 Walter Carrington Crescent,
Victoria Island, Lagos.

Hope to get a useful info from any one.

Thankx

It isn't a scam, Walter Carrington Crescent used to be called Eleke Crescent in the past. So it is a matter of old and new name, they are both correct

Please if you can't drive do yourself a favour by learning how to drive between now till when you get your visa, failure to do so may cost you $25/hr(xdays)for driving lesson. No learner (L)on your bumper is allowed in the state is either you know how to drive or not.
Pls let's take to this advice, we had to pay about $100/hr in Atlanta. Please and please take to the advice especially for the ppl not going to NY, Maryland, etc that bus system is everywhere. Also you can download the traffic rules for the state you are going online and study it.

thanks busayodot, can i proceed with my SSN and medic aid witout use of my passport? I was given a form like card to use as identification pending when i get my passport but i dont know if they would accpet this for my SSN and co.[/quote]

Ok, but you executed every document you were meant to at the port of entry? I think your SSN would come still except they did not process it at the port of entry. It shouldn't take long before the mail comes to you

@temmytanny, so good to hear from you. Remember I earlier talked about the validity of your medicals, I think you should find out more about it because without you medical aid, it gets expensive and it may not be easy on your purse. I had to wait till I got the SSN and Green cards for my Niece and Nephew before taking them for school medicals so as to pay very small. I just got them registered on medic aid because I have some things I want to check up at the clinic. I really hope you don't do it at the premium. Pele hope the weather is not too hot, LOL. I hope the processing of your SSN and Green card is not delayed by this.

@Ifeayin.abdul, I track prices on bt-store.com but calls my agent when purchasing not to be swindled or too much. I would not vouch for any agent, sorry. Let me know if I can help with any other.

Tips for people looking for cheap flights to the US.
December period would be winter in the US,so we should expect flight ticket to be reduced compared with summer. Now should you not mind long journeys and stop overs, check on Qatar airways, Emirates, Egypt air and even Turkish airline to New York. NY journeys are usually the cheapest and could be well under $1,000 per person. from JFK New York you'll get local flights (United, etc) to where ever you are going for around $200 depending on your destination, you could even buy that ticket before you leave Nigeria but make sure you leave some time gap enough from your touch down at JFK to cater for cases of delayed flight, I recommend 3hrs. If you also do not mind you'll get bus (Greyhound) from JFK to any destination which would be cheaper and you can also book from Nigeria via internet and with all this you may not spend up to $1,000 in total
Note if you book straight to a destination other than NY on these flights, it gets expensive because they would load you from JFK to another airline not theirs and it is at a premium but doing it yourself cuts the cost.
Example, I'm going to Atlanta
Qatar or Emirates, from Lagos to JFK NY $850 (Summer price)
United Airlines, from JFK to Hartsfield Jackson ATL $200

NB, they are separate tickets. Your brown Envelope would be opened at JFK with the immigrations

Wish everyone safe trip

I presume it is a one way ticket as you are allowed to purchase a one way ticket since you are going on immigrant Visa but the difference in price is always little. For my Sis's case, I purchased a one yr return ticket but if you want to save so much, the one way is cheaper a lil.

@Temmytanny, all the best. I believe you'll have a good time in the US

infant 10% paid 2- 12 30% of what the parent pay, actually on Qater the infant will be provided a baby's sit very close to his/her mama's sit with all meal served.Delta stop over is belgium and final destination is Atlanta.
I paid for Delta for my Sis and Niece and Nephew, they both were within 2 - 12 yrs region. I paid over 70% of the fee for my sis. Also, Delta has a direct flight to Atlanta 12hrs duration daily from Lagos and if you choose to stop over, I know only about Amsterdam not Belgium, they hv partnership with KLM

temmytanny: An infant is entitled to only 23kg and 10kg hand luggage(EMIRATES AIRLINES). Am not sure if its going to be excess yet but the way my wife dey buy things ehn, i fit enter excess oooo
LOL, I feel you bro. didn't know infant rates were different, my nephew 10 and Niece 6 were given 23+23 each (DELTA). I thought we were going to exceed the baggage allowance but in the end we had over 25kg unused. Let her pack oo, she may not be coming around for a while, grin grin You've got a long flight in Emirates but they are good and have good airplanes, hope your stopover wont be too long

I'm so happy for you bro, but why excess luggage? you should be entitled to 23+23 kg each making 138kg (6 bags)for the three of you for most airlines. That should do now!! Items that may not pass are Plantain, Noodles, maggi. You'll get to buy them at farmer's warehouse in the US. You don't want to have delays at the port of entry. Hope your wife can drive and where in the US are you going? It's been so good having you on this forum, God bless you plenty

@busayodot and kemzone2003, But we had one police report from nigeria when we r coming to uk, can we still use that one or we need to do a new one, cos that is where i got confuse from? thanks for ur advice.
The police report from Nigeria I heard is valid for 3 months (not sure). I have met with a few having their interview in Nigeria and had to go bring another police report because they did theirs too early. So the police report should be recent, I concur with Kemzone2003. If you are already in the UK, I suggest you fax the old one to family or friend in Nigeria to get a recent one if possible in Nigeria but if it will still be valid during interview, you have no issues.
Wish you success

owobabaisabella: please house,am a little bit confuse about the issue of police report asin me and my wife have been living in uk for the past five years now,do we still need to get police certificate from nigeria with the uk own or only the uk own is all we need?
Where is your place of interview, UK or Nigeria? if UK, then you'll have to get the police report from there and if Nigeria, you need to be cleared of criminal record in Nigeria.
Now my advice would be you get both if you will be interviewed in either of the countries since police report should be your police record since birth and you have lived in both countries for long periods.
House!! anyone think otherwise?

Congratulations on your wife's selection. What you need do now is wait and be glue to her e-mail. she would get notification to go check for information on the .gov site where you earlier checked your selection with your confirmation number, that would be the notification of your interview. Note: you would not get a letter posted to your house and you would not have any information to your email except to advise you to check for updates.
Congrats again and good-luck at your interview.

temmytanny: if its 6months,then i may do the medical again cos i cant leave for USA for my 6months expires.According to Kamorass, they said only physical examination like x-tray and co would be done again. If its physical only, then it wont cost much but i will still find when i go for my final vaccination in june.

@temmytanny, what do you need the medicals for? Was it not for the embassy to find out if you were medically eligible for the opportunity? The medicals was for the embassy to make their judgement and it has been made, the reply from the doctors was for the embassy not you - that is why you don't have the original doctor's report. I think the medicals have done it's purpose and has nothing to do with your entry or any other. That was what they meant by the reply you got from the embassy.
If you are thinking of using it for job and school screening in the US, then you may need get a valid original report from the doctors again I think and note that the medical reports are for a period of 6 months not one year for which ever purpose even though you hv taken vaccines that'll last in you for 3 yrs, 5 yrs, etc. the report consist of more information than the vaccinations alone and the reports are for 6 months

@ifeanyi.abdul, my sis didn't even know she won until october last year when I checked and I sent the forms to KCC in November. Her interview was Feb this year, so relax, your case has no issue. Remember they'll not start attending to your case before October even if u send it now. I strongly support that U wait.

@temmytanny, you don't hv to respond to every post, U can keep silent on ones upsetting U. A lot hv gained from ur post, me inclusive.

@Beisel, you may want to quickly register for NECO or GCE as a back up. Your interview may be after the results are out.

@Brightmon, who won the lottery? U or ur wife. If it's ur wife, with what name did she play it? I guess it's with her married name, then there is no issue. The consulate has nothing against marriages. You can make ur case clearer for better advice.

temmytanny: Who so ever that says prayer doesnt counts is talking BU.LLSH.IT. I was about stoping the Dv application in 2010 after many attempts but my wife(being spiritual)told me to try it for last time. I followed her instruction and applied. When the results in May was cancelled, she told me it was cancelled becos our names werent taken. I just waved her statement aside cos i never checked the result. In july, she reminded me to check that one of the people i did for will win,i checked and discovered only me won out of about 10 people i helped to apply. I had zero kobo in my account and was so worried how to get almost 600k to execute the whole project. she and my mum said we should be prayerful that help will come where i least expect it. I struggled to do medical, passports for her and my baby, police reports etc. 8 days to my interview,i had zero kobo in my account. i told me wife and mum that i will post pone it a day before the interview, they rejected my plan saying the interview date is ours and no going back.I just laughed at both of them cos i just couldnt imagine where i would get 405k for visa(then it was $2457 at N165-$1). just 5 days before the interview,a friend called me and ask how far, i told him no money and he gave N250k. Another person sent 150k to me from my home town two days before the day. I honored the interview date and here i am smiling in the goodness of the Lord.
All these were as a result of prayers, fasting and believe.
As am talking to you now,no money for ticket but have told GOd i want to book my tickets before of may ending,am very sure he wont fail me.
Every month, i keep telling God to do something new for me and he hasnt failed me since i got closed to him.

IF YOU BELIEVE,YOU WILL ACHIEVE!

I believe and identify with your believe. I had a similar experience:
I had earlier stopped playing the lottery, a friend in the US then came around and stayed with me all through encouraging me to put in for it that ppl keep winning it. So I did in 2010 and played it for all around me to increase the odd. This time I prayed for favour especially for my Sis who just became a widow and we all had to keep encouraging her. When the result came out I didn't check because I had forgotten. It was in October last year that I decided to check and found out that of all I registered for about 5, she was the only winner. Now on her passport and that of her son, there was a challenge of the surname change with no paper to back it up with the exception of my little niece. We had to go to Abuja in November for the change, this took forever and even got me scared to check for the interview date knowing there were no passports for the two. I decided checking on feb 13 and found out interview was 23rd, now there was no cash and I could not raise the amount for the three in Ten days plus there were no passports. It was a miracle as a family friend just heard and helped with most of the finances. We spent over 300k on passports alone (transportation to Abj 2times not inclusive). The friend then asked me of the visa fee, I told him I'm looking to complete it, he smiled and asked me to come the next day for the balance and at this time I had no cash anymore and my sister was on her way back from Abuja rejoicing after so long she got the passports. On getting to the friend, he gave me a cheque of an amount that would cover the visa fee as well as the medicals, she went for Medicals on 20th and interview on 23rd. Now I owe no one and know I'll get the flight fee by next month May.

WHY WON'T I BELIEVE IN GOD? IS THIS NOT A MIRACLE?

Temmytanny, I blieve in God so much and know nothing in this life happens by chance. So if you believe declare the Words and have faith. You can change anything.

Warm Regards

@peluniv, I'd advise not use an agent really because it makes the cost go further up, but if the agent if a custom officer working at the passport office, the authenticity is surer and the cost might not be so high. I didn't know anyone there too, I only walked in and spoke with someone that seems senior there and thereafter was treated well and didn't queue like everyone else. It really not a big deal, just go there when ready.

About the release of results, it is automated and not manually done, so I believe it is released once. The saying about the fiscal year means u can check any time within that period not that if u don't win initially, you could win later. Be positive! U could win
