Education / Why You Should Consider Doing Your Ph.d. In The Usa by Campuslink: 5:39pm On Aug 09, 2019
Now that you have decided to get a Ph.D. and you have also decided to get that degree abroad, the next question is which country better suits your study needs. This article will outline some important reasons why the USA should be a destination of choice for your Ph.D. study.
FUNDING IS ALMOST ALWAYS GUARANTEED: unlike studying in Europe or the UK, getting your Ph.D. in the US provide better funding options. In fact, the US has the highest ratings on Ph.D. full funding, although you might have to be enrolled in a full-time program, have a good score in your test of English exam or any other standardized exam required, and apply ahead of time to be qualified. Funding includes a tuition waiver and stipends for living expenses.
APPLICATION WITHOUT THESIS SUBJECT: While applying for a Ph.D. program, most universities in Europe or in the UK require you to apply with a thesis subject, the USA however does not. The US Ph.D. program is structured in a way that you can apply without a thesis subject which allows you more time to get familiar with options available to you during your course of study so as to make well-informed choices.
Ph.D. STUDENTS AS PART OF UNIVERSITY STAFF: As a Ph.D. student in the US, you are not regarded as just any other student. Structurally, the students in the US are seen as part of the university staff, they work as teaching and research assistants as part of their responsibilities as Ph.D. students. The USA, therefore, poses as a better option for working in these capacities.
FLEXIBLE PROFESSORS: The U.S boasts of the most flexible in-house professors who are more likely to listen to a student than any other part of the world. This means that should a student decide to change his or her course, thesis or research, these professors have an open-door policy that allows communication and fosters close relationships.
WORLD-CLASS UNIVERSITY RANKING: U.S. schools rank among half of the world top ten schools; as a result, getting a degree in the U.S begets a prestigious status. A lot of the best schools to study are in the U.S and so the U.S boasts of quality education.
WIDESPREAD OPPORTUNITIES: the USA has over four thousand schools, fifty states, and six time-zones, it offers a variety of options in terms of connections and opportunities. From the diversity of cultures to a range of economically competitive organizations, whatever your specialty, be sure that the USA can accommodate it.
LENGTH OF COURSE: The U.S has a longer course duration; this helps you get used to the environment, fit in as well as you want to, weigh your career options and even adjust and plan to stay permanently should you desire to.
INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY: The U.S is, of course, a destination of choice for many international applicants. This means that there is an already thriving International community in place so you do not have a problem adjusting as you are most likely to find a community of your countrymen waiting to help you through your adjustment period; people who literally show you the ropes.
All these and more make the U.S a rewarding place to do your Ph.D. program.

Education / How To Fast-track Your Canadian Permanent Residence Application by Campuslink: 6:24am On Aug 05, 2019
[img][/img]

What is Permanent Residence?
Permanent residency is a person's resident status in a country of which they are not citizens. This is usually for a permanent period; a person with such status is known as a permanent resident.
There are a number of resident options available to process your PR application and each option comes with its own requirements necessary for successful PR application. For all of these options, however, there are four fundamental ways to fast track to your PR application. These are high demand skill acquisition, job offer, high IELTS, and the spouse factor. Each option for processing the PR comes with its own method and ways to fast track them. To understand how these factors work, you must understand how the PR application is done. The following are the methods of PR application:
1. EXPRESS ENTRY
Canadian fast-track system for immigration is called “Express Entry”. The system was designed specifically to help skilled workers to move into a role in the country. Applications for Express Entry are all done online. Once you create your profile (valid for one year) you will be given a score (you must achieve a minimum score of 67/100) based on your language proficiency, education, and work experience. Your score is then ranked against other applicants via a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and those at the top of the rankings are invited (Invitation to Apply (ITA)) to become permanent residents. There are three separate immigration programs under Express Entry-‘Federal Skilled Workers" "federal Skilled Trades’, and Canadian Experience Class’.

A) Federal Skilled Workers

this program is limited to 25,000 visas per year (all nationalities). Although, if you have a job offer, you can still qualify even if the quota has been filled. To apply you must have at least one year of paid work experience and fulfill certain criteria (such as a language test). You must also have your qualifications assessed by an independent accreditor (for an additional fee). World Education Services (WES) is a recognized independent accreditor that can evaluate your credentials.

B) Federal Skilled Trades

Each year 5,000 visas are available for individuals who are trained in one of 90 skilled trades that are in demand. To apply under this program, you must have at least two years’ paid work experience (in the previous five years) and have either a job offer for a full year or a certificate of qualification.
C) Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
This program offers 8,000 permanent residency visas to applicants who have at least 12 months’ skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before they apply. To qualify you must also apply at least four months before your visa expires, and pass a language and medical test. It takes six months to process but it is possible to get a bridging visa until the CEC is issued.

To fast track your express entry PR therefore, each applicant must possess high demand skills, a job offer and high scores in IELTS. We can certainly help you register for the exam and score very high in IELTS if you undergo our training. For more information, please visit www.mcfedututors.com or whatsapp 08132765285

Gain more work experience
If you are working outside Canada but have less than three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience, keep working! While this work won’t bring points under the human capital factors, it is nonetheless rewarded in the skills transferability combinations.

The goal of remaining in employment is even more important for candidates currently working in Canada on a work permit because more points are available for Canadian work experience. Just make sure that if you are working in Canada, you maintain legal work status the entire time.

As long as you indicate that your employment is ongoing on your Express Entry profile, your CRS score will automatically update when you reach a new threshold of work experience.

II. IELTS
Another important factor for the express entry is the test of English language proficiency IELTS. As earlier stated, your score on this test would be ranked against other applicants; it is, therefore, advisable to get a very high score on either of these tests in order to help fast track your application. Did you know that language ability is worth up to 260 CRS points in total for a single candidate, or up to 270 points for a couple? Not only is language ability the most valued human capital factor under the Comprehensive Ranking System, but it is also a factor where incremental gains can make a huge difference.

Extra points are accumulated for each improvement in test results across the four language abilities (speaking, listening, reading, writing), but the magic threshold is when a candidate achieves a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 9 in each ability. Why? Because in addition to the points gained for improvements to that level, getting a CLB 9 in each ability also triggers a jump in points under the skills transferability factors (the exact jump depends on your levels of education and work experience).

Skill transferability factors can result in a maximum of 100 points, so be sure you get as many of these points as you can. To reach CLB 9 on the IELTS General Training exam, you have to achieve the following minimum scores:

Listening: 8.0 Speaking 7.0 Reading: 7.0 Writing: 7.0.

Hello People.
I am very new to this process
I graduated in 2015 with a 4.40/5 CGPA.
Looking to apply to schools come fall 2020.
my questions are:
1. I am hoping to get full funding and if I do, how much personal funding will be required that I possess.
2. How can i register for GRE and get materials? Also when is the next exam?

Basically I welcome any info that will help me
Written proof that you have a certain amount of money in a bank account with your name on it with which you will use to live might help, this is separate from room and board costs. For the UK, the amount required might run up to $5,400. If you don’t have that much money, asks your parent, guardian or close relative if they might deposit the cash into your account, and you can pay them back at a later date. Again, just as with the letter from your abroad institution, the letter from your bank needs to be on their letterhead.

Why are these standard exams like TOEFL,GRE,gmat etc required. Is it because of scholarship?
These exams are not required basically for scholarships, they are required to test your English language proficiency since you are immigrating from a foreign country where English is not an indigenous language.
However, a great score on any of these exams would boost your chances of getting a scholarship.
For what scholarships or grant funding options are available to you based on a good test score or additional information on how to hit a high score on your test, please contact us at 206 Muriokunola Street, Victoria Island Lagos or visit our website at www.mcfedututors.com or WhatsApp on 08132765285.

Thanks so much for your contribution.
But, which is/are TOEFL or IELTS?
2. Is it for all countries?
3.how will someone apply for the exam?

Toefl and IELTS are foreign tests of English exams used to immigrate or gain admissions into foreign countries/Universities. These exams at designed to test your ability to competently use the English language in the following areas: Reading, writing, speaking and listening. The exams are therefore divided into these four modules of testing.

Education / 5 Things That You Shouldn’t Do Prepping For IELTS by Campuslink: 7:55am On May 01, 2019
Students often make some mistakes in the course of their practice for IELTS. Here are a few common ones you should watch out for and avoid.

Mistake #1: Using Only Unofficial IELTS Prep
As an IELTS tutor, I’ve been surprised at how many of my students come to me without having done any official IELTS prep from Cambridge, the British Council, the IELTS Essentials website, and IELTS.org. On any given month, 90 to 100 percent of the new IELTS students who come to me haven’t tried the official prep materials at all.
Don’t get me wrong. Unofficial materials can be useful. But, nothing prepares you for the real test quite like real materials. If you don’t use actual samples of exam sections from the makers of the test, it’s almost impossible to be fully prepared for test day.
So learn how to use the 4 official IELTS websites and know where to get official IELTS prep materials. Above all, make sure these official resources are a central part of your practice sessions.

Mistake #2: Doing IELTS Practice with Just One Style of Native English

British English — both spoken and written — undeniably dominates the IELTS exam. However, there is a significant amount of non-British English on this test too. In IELTS Listening, you’ll hear not only standard British accents, but also the standard accents of Canada, the United States, New Zealand, and Australia. So know what accents to expect in IELTS Listening.
Also be aware that IELTS Reading will include both British-style writing and North American written English. The most obvious difference between UK and USA standards is spelling. However, there are also differences in wording, common phrases, and even some grammar rules.
If you aren’t familiar with all the forms of English that appear on the exam, you can really get disoriented by unfamiliar accents or shifts in national writing style. Avoid the “one English” mistake in your IELTS practice!

If you are struggling in one or all of the four modules of IELTS, we can help greatly. We will prepare you for two weeks or more. You can book us now for private tutoring or simply contact us

Mistake #3: Trying to Rate Your Own Speech and Writing

The IELTS has official band descriptors for all the sections. This can help you measure the quality of your own written and spoken English to a limited degree. However, it’s pretty much impossible to rate your IELTS Speaking and Writing accurately without help. Find another person to read your IELTS essays and listen to you speak in English. This could be a study buddy, a family member or friend who’s good at English, a tutor, a teacher, or a conversation partner. Just make sure you get feedback form someone, so you can really know how you’re doing in IELTS practice for the Speaking and Writing sections. Need help to evaluate your writing (both Task 1 and Task 2), buy it here for $5 or simply contact us

Mistake #4: Focusing on Language Skills at the Expense of Pacing

Mastering your English skills can be fulfilling! It’s a thrill to be able to read, listen, speak, or write with minimal error in your second language. But there’s a danger of focusing on language skills at the expense of timing: you would likely run out of time if you don’t master pacing.
Pacing is a difficult skill to master. If you aren’t able to go through the IELTS exam fast enough in the final days before you take the test, you may not have time to get your pacing to where it needs to be. So practice pacing and finishing tasks within the time limits early on. This skill goes hand-in-hand with the English skills on the IELTS.

Mistake #5: Not Practicing IELTS With Visual Information

The IELTS really emphasizes a new idea in education- visual literacy. You need to be able to understand graphs, tables, and charts to do well on almost every section of the exam. IELTS Reading, IELTS Listening, and IELTS Writing all include a “visual information” component. Be prepared to interpret informational images quickly and accurately. It’s pretty easy to forget this aspect of IELTS practice, but if you aren’t sufficiently prepared to read, listen, and write in a “visual” way, you’ll lose a lot of points on the exam.

Education / Between GMAT And GRE, Which Is Easier To Pass? by Campuslink: 7:25am On Apr 30, 2019
Historically, GMAT is known for admission into MBA and management programs and it is till today. However, GRE, which was normally required for non-management programs, is now accepted by most schools for admission into both management and non-management programs, a situation that creates difficulty in deciding which of the two is easier to score high. Here’s a piece of information to guide you when faced with such a dilemma.

If you are a candidate with rich wealth of vocabulary usage in the right context, GRE is a better option. However, if you are more handy with the rules of grammar than the use of words in appropriate context, you will be better off doing GMAT.
If you are more dexterous in the application of mathematical principles to solving real problems, GMAT is your sure bet. On the other hand, if you are more grounded in general principles of mathematics covering all areas, then you should settle for GRE.
While both GRE and GMAT test your reasoning skills, you should consider doing GMAT if you enjoy and more passionate about constructive arguments.

If you are easily balked in the face of a large volume of information to read, process and analyse in order to answer questions, perhaps you should look away from GMAT and start considering GRE instead.
In general, both GRE and GMAT adequately test the skills needed to be able to cope with graduate studies. The foregoing is essentially a piece of guidance for whoever is faced with making a decision on which of the duo to do, giving consideration to individual strength and weakness.

Study in Germany is an especially great option for those who understand or ready to learn German because they pay little or no tuition fees.
If you want to enroll for a program taught in English language, you will be charged tuition but it's still comparatively lower than obtainable in US, UK or Canada.
However, the major hurdle is funding a blocked account with around 8000 euro as a requirement to getting your study visa. If you can meet that, you should start your application asap.
