LIVING A HEALTHY LIFE -- WELLNESS AND P HYSICAL FITNESS

INTRODUCTION
Living a healthier life can not only extend your life, it can also improve the quality. Feeling physically better and having control over your own life can greatly increase your mental health as well. Although there are some aspects of physical and mental health that are beyond an individual's (and science's) control, there are many things that people can do to improve their quality of life.
The purpose of this course is to introduce you to some of the basic practices and guidelines of healthy living. Because every person (and his or her physical health and abilities) is unique, not all of the information in this course may apply. It is important to check with your doctor or medical care provider when changing your lifestyle. However, the information from this course may provide you with some basic guidelines for developing your own healthy living plan.
Read on to learn more about some basic steps to healthy living, like nutrition and physical fitness.
Having a Balanced Diet: The Food Pyramid and Recommended Daily Allowances (RDAs)
.

A number of government agencies in the United States (including the Food and Drug Administration [FDA], Department of Health and Human Services, and Department of Agriculture) have spent years researching proper nutrition and developing guidelines for food intake. They have come up with seven general dietary guidelines for healthy adults.
EAT A VARIETY OF FOODS TO GET THE ENERGY, PROTEIN, VITAMINS, MINERALS, AND FIBER YOU NEED FOR GOOD HEALTH.
For more specific guidelines on what types of food to eat and how often to eat them, read our section on the
Food Pyramid and Recommended Daily Allowances (RDAs).
MAINTAIN A HEALTHY WEIGHT.
This can lower your chances of having high blood pressure, heart disease, a stroke, certain cancers, and the most common kind of diabetes. You can learn more about how to maintain a healthy weight in the section on Exercise and Physical Fitness .
CHOOSE A DIET LOW IN FAT AND CHOLESTEROL.
This can lower your risk of heart disease and certain types of cancer. A diet low in fat can also help you maintain a healthy weight.
CHOOSE A DIET WITH PLENTY OF VEGETABLES, FRUITS, AND GRAIN PRODUCTS.
These types of food provide needed vitamins, minerals, fiber, and carbohydrates, and are generally lower in fat to help you maintain a healthy weight.
USE SUGAR IN MODERATION.
Sugar has many calories and few nutrients and can contribute to tooth decay.
USE SALT IN MODERATION.
This helps lower your risk of high blood pressure.
IF YOU DRINK ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, DO SO IN MODERATION.
Alcoholic beverages supply calories, but little or no nutrients. Drinking alcohol is also the cause of many health problems and accidents and can lead to addiction.
Following the guidelines above can be a huge step forward in improving your health, but sometimes it's hard to know what counts as "healthy" food and how much and how often you should eat certain types of food. To help, the government has created a simple plan that describes different types of food and how much you should eat each day. This plan is often referred to the Food Pyramid or Recommended Daily Allowances (RDAs).
Next: Having a Balanced Diet: The Food Pyramid and Recommended Daily Allowances (RDAs)
HAVING A BALANCED DIET: THE F OOD PYRAMID AND R ECOMMENDED DAILY A LLOWANCES (RDAS)
The food pyramid describes six general food groups and how often people should eat these foods each day. Below is a table that breaks down the daily food pyramid and gives specific examples of types of food and ideas for serving sizes. Be sure to eat at least the lowest number of servings from the food groups below to get the vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, and protein you need. Or print a PDF version of these tips and keep it as a reference.
FOOD GROUP: BREAD, CEREAL, RICE AND PASTA
RECOMMENDED NUMBER OF S ERVINGS: 6-11
SAMPLE SERVINGS: 1 SERVING EQUALS:
1 slice bread, pancake, or tortilla
1/2 bagel, English muffin, hamburger/sandwich roll, doughnut, croissant or danish
1 cup ready-to-eat cereal (such as Raisin Bran, Corn Flakes)
1/2 cup cooked pasta, rice or cereal (such as oatmeal, cream of wheat, farina)
3-4 small crackers or cookies
1/2 slice cake or pie
HEALTHY HINTS:
Whole grain breads and cereals and brown rice have more fiber and are healthier.
Choose foods made with less fat and sugar, like bread, English muffins, rice and pasta.
Don't add back the fat and sugar you've avoided with lots of fatty or sweet toppings!
FOOD GROUP: VEGETABLES
RECOMMENDED NUMBER OF S ERVINGS: 3-5
Sample Servings: 1 serving =
1 cup raw, leafy vegetables (such as lettuce or spinach)
1/2 cup other vegetables, raw or cooked
1/4 cup vegetable juice (such as tomato juice or V-cool
1/2 potato
HEALTHY HINTS:
Eat a variety of vegetables. (Different vegetables have different nutrients.)
Dark leafy vegetables (like spinach and collards) are healthier than lighter leafy vegetables (like iceberg lettuce).
Eat legumes to get both your vitamins and protein. Legumes are beans and nuts (such as kidney beans, black beans, lentils, chickpeas, and peanuts) that not only give you the nutrients of vegetables but also give you the protein of meat.
Keep your veggie servings low-fat and healthy by avoiding fried foods or foods cooked or served with fatty spreads or toppings.
FOOD GROUP: FRUITS
RECOMMENDED NUMBER OF S ERVINGS: 2-4
Sample Servings: 1 serving equal:
1 medium size fruit (apple, banana, orange)
1/2 cup chopped, cooked, or canned fruit
3/4 cup fruit juice
HEALTHY HINTS: 1 SERVING EQUALS:
Choose fresh fruits whenever possible.
Watch out for added sugar in fruit juices, canned fruit, and frozen fruit.
Watch out for juices that aren't really juice! "Punches, ades, and fruit drinks" often have a lot of sugar and very little fruit juice.
Have citrus fruits (like oranges and grapefruits), melon, and berries regularly. They are rich in vitamin C.
FOOD GROUP: DAIRY (MILK, CHEESE, Y OGURT)
RECOMMENDED NUMBER OF S ERVINGS: 2-3
Sample Servings: 1 serving equals:
1 cup milk
1.5-2 ounces cheese (about 1-2 standard sized slices of cheese)
8 ounces of yogurt (usually the amount of the average yogurt cup)
1/2 cup ricotta or mozzarella cheese
2 cups cottage cheese
1 cup frozen yogurt
1 1/2 cup ice cream
HEALTHY HINTS:
Choose skim, part-skim, or low-fat milk, cheeses, yogurts, and ice creams, when possible.
The average American does not get enough calcium, so try boosting your calcium intake with other products like calcium enriched juices or vegetables high in calcium (like arugula, kale, spinach and other dark, leafy greens).
FOOD GROUP: PROTEIN (MEAT, P OULTRY, FISH, EGG, NUTS AND B EANS, TOFU)
RECOMMENDED NUMBER OF S ERVINGS: 2-3
Sample Servings: 1 serving equals:
2-3 ounces cooked meat, poultry, or fish
2-3 eggs
1-1 1/2 cup cooked beans
4-6 tablespoons nuts, seeds, or peanut butter
1/2 cup tofu or tempah
HEALTHY HINTS:
Choose lean meat, poultry without skin, fish, and dry beans and peas often. They are the choices lowest in fat.
Trim fat from meats and broil, roast, or boil (instead of frying) to reduce fat.
Lower cholesterol by removing egg yolks.
FOOD GROUP: FATS, OILS, SWEETS
RECOMMENDED NUMBER OF S ERVINGS: USE SPARINGLY
Most people enjoy the occasional sweet or fatty food, and there's nothing wrong with allowing yourself to indulge once in a while. But too much sugar and fat in your diet can cause serious health problems. The average person should only consume 55-75 grams of fat a day and 6-12 teaspoons of sugar. While that may seem like plenty (considering a tablespoon of margarine has 10 grams of fat, and a chocolate bar usually has 3 teaspoons of sugar), don't forget that you're also consuming fat and sugar from 'healthy' foods like pasta, cereal, fruits, and dairy products. Try the hints below to help lower your fat and sugar intake.
Choose lower fat and lower sugar options from the food groups above. (For example, choose an English muffin or low-fat muffin instead of a doughnut, a baked potato instead of French fries, or reduced fat or reduced calorie options of your favorite foods.)
Limit fat and sugar in your diet by cutting down on "extras" (such as sweet or fatting dressings, oily or fried foods, butter, sweets, and soft drinks, to name a few).
Choose lower fat options or use smaller portions when preparing packaged foods like stuffing or sauces. (For example, try using only half the butter or margarine suggested; if milk or cream is called for, use low fat milk.)
EXERCISE AND PHYSICAL FITNESS
Exercising and staying physically fit are an important part of maintaining your health. Proper exercise and fitness can improve your health in many ways. It can:
Improve the health of your heart and lungs (which lowers your chances of heart disease)
Lower your cholesterol and blood pressure (which lowers your chances of heart disease, stroke, and other chronic diseases)
Maintain your weight (which lowers your chances of heart disease, stroke, and other chronic diseases)
Improve your strength and flexibility (which makes daily activities easier and lowers your chance of osteoporosis, broken bones, pulled muscles, and other injuries)
Improve your mental health (by lowering anxiety and depression and increasing feelings of control and well-being)
The type of exercises you do and how often you do them can vary greatly from person to person, but all healthcare professionals agree that exercise is beneficial to everyone's health. Before starting any exercise program you should check with your doctor or healthcare provider .
This section will introduce you to different types of exercise and common terms, provide you with some general guidelines for exercise, and discuss weight maintenance and preventative health measures. If you decide to start or change your exercise program, be sure to discuss these changes with your doctor or healthcare provider .
TYPES OF EXERCISE
There are many different kinds of exercise (walking, running, swimming, dancing, and weight lifting, to name just a few), but three basic types of exercise. A good exercise program will include some combination of all three of these types of exercise:
CARDIOVASCULAR
Cardiovascular exercise improves and strengthens your heart, lungs, and circulation and helps people lose weight. Cardiovascular exercise is any type of exercise that raises your heart rate to a 'target zone' (determined by your age, weight, and health). Some of the most commonly discussed types of cardiovascular exercise include running, aerobics, bicycling, walking, and stair climbing, but could also include dancing, skating, skiing, martial arts, tennis, or any type of exercise that raises your heart rate.
STRENGTH TRAINING AND/OR M USCLE ENDURANCE
Strength training helps you by making you stronger and giving you better endurance (so you can do things longer). This makes day-to-day activities easier and reduces your chances of injury. While many people think of weight lifting when they hear 'strength training', there are many different types of exercises you can do to improve your strength (and you don't have to be a muscle-man or woman to do them.) Some common strength training exercises include sit-ups, push-ups, and using nautilus machines, strength bands, and free weights.
FLEXIBILITY
Exercises that increase your flexibility give you greater range of motion in your joints and make your body more supple, again, making day-to-day activities easier and reducing your chances of injury. Many people do specific stretching exercises to increase their flexibility but other types of exercise (such as dancing, yoga, and martial arts) can also improve flexibility.
GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR E XERCISE
The guidelines for how often, how long, and what type of exercise you should be doing can vary greatly depending upon your health and age. However, in general, it is recommended that:
You exercise at least 3-5 times a week for 20-60 minutes at a time.
Your exercise include some type of activity that involves large muscle groups and increases your heart rate (for example walking, running, cycling, or swimming) and also includes some strength training and flexibility exercises.
BEFORE BEGINNING AN EXERCISE PROGRAM, REMEMBER TO:
Check with your doctor or healthcare provider. Find out if you have any medical limitations you should be aware of (both physical limitations and possible limitations caused by medicine).
If possible, have an exercise test to determine your current level of fitness and work with a trained exercise professional to create an individual exercise program.
WHEN EXERCISING, REMEMBER TO:
Stop immediately if you experience pain, nausea, dizziness, irregular heartbeat, or shortness of breath. Contact your doctor and describe what happened before continuing any sort of exercise.
Always do both warm-up and cool-down exercises for at least five minutes to make sure that your heart rate changes slowly and you don't hurt any muscles. Warm-up and cool-down exercises can be light activity (like slow walking or stretching).
Never "work through the pain" when exercising; you can only hurt yourself.
Drink plenty of fluids, especially water.
Wear appropriate clothing. (If exercising indoors or on a hot day, be sure to wear cool clothing. If exercising outside in cool weather, be sure that your head, hands, and feet are kept warm.)
Create an exercise program that meets your needs, but make sure that your needs and goals are realistic.
PREVENTION AND REGULAR CHECK-UPS
"Prevention is the best cure" is a popular saying among healthcare professionals. This means that the easiest way to get healthy is to avoid getting sick in the first place. While this is not always possible, there are many ways to prevent possible future health problems and illnesses.
One of the best ways, and the main purpose of this course, is to have a healthy diet and exercise regularly. This can prevent very serious diseases like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and strokes, to name a few. But there are many other ways to prevent illnesses or stop illnesses from getting worse. A number of these are listed below, but these are by no means the only. Talk to your doctor or healthcare professional for more ideas on prevention and healthy living, especially related to your lifestyle and nutrition. And print a PDF version of these tips and keep it as a reference.
PREVENTION: EASY WAYS TO STAY H EALTHY AND PREVENT ILLNESS
EAT WELL AND EXERCISE REGULARLY.
HAVE A YEARLY PHYSICAL WITH YOUR DOCTOR OR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER.
This check up should include checking your weight, blood pressure, listening to your heart and lungs, and a general physical exam; discussing your lifestyle (exercise, diet), health problems, and current medication; and answering any questions you may have about your health.
MAKE SURE YOUR IMMUNIZATIONS ARE UP TO DATE.
WOMEN SHOULD:
Have a yearly gynecological exam that includes a pelvic exam, breast exam, and pap smear (a test that screens for cervical cancer and other problems) if you are over 18 years of age or sexually active.
Perform monthly at-home breast exams.
Have a yearly mammogram (a test that screens for breast cancer) if you are over 40 years of age.
Schedule regular doctor's visits and review their nutrition and lifestyle with the doctor if pregnant or trying to get pregnant.
EVERYONE AT THE AGE OF 50 SHOULD HAVE A COLONOSCOPY - A TEST THAT SCREENS FOR COLON CANCER.
Talk to your doctor about your family history. If you have a family history of colon cancer, your doctor may recommend you start screening earlier or be screened more regularly. Otherwise, it is recommended that the test be repeated every ten years.
AVOID OR SEEK HELP FOR ADDICTIONS OR DANGEROUS HEALTH BEHAVIOR. THIS INCLUDES:
Smoking
Alcohol abuse
Use of illegal drugs
Abuse of prescription medications
Abusive relationships (physical or emotional)
Risky sexual behavior
VISIT THE DENTIST AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR AND HAVE YOUR TEETH CLEANED PROFESSIONALLY AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR
HAVE YOUR VISION CHECKED REGULARLY.
If your eyesight is fine and you have no history of eye problems, ask your regular doctor to check your sight (and if he or she thinks you need to see a specialist). If you wear glasses or have a history of eye problems, ask your doctor how often you should have your vision checked.
CONSIDER GETTING A FLU SHOT.
Yearly flu shots are recommended for young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Many doctors recommend it to all their patients if it is expected to be a particularly bad flu season.
USE COMMON SENSE AND FOLLOW SAFETY GUIDELINES AT HOME, WORK, AND IN THE CAR.
For more information on safety guidelines, visit our home, fire, and personal safety courses .
Note: Most insurances pay for what they consider basic preventative care like gynecological exams, mammograms, colonoscopies, and regular examinations for people who are pregnant or have health problems. Check with your insurance company or healthcare provider.

CONCLUSION
Healthy living is a combination of many things, including good nutrition, regular exercise and a positive attitude. Taking care of your body and feeling pride in your accomplishments can improve both your physical and mental health.
There are many things you can do to improve your quality of life - improving your diet and exercising regularly are two of the easiest steps. No matter how small you start (adding an apple a day to your diet or walking 5 more minutes a day), you can make a change and an improvement in your life.

Health, as observed by World Health Organization (WHO) and held by public opinion is the greatest wealth. Sadly, there are many factors working against us from having sound health.
These include poor diet, stress, lack of adequate rest, appropriate exercise and many other more. At the peak of the list is lack of adequate information and knowledge about our diet and the eventual effect on our health. These militating factors have reduced our health status from vibrant zone to the sick zone which has been scientifically proven.
It has also been confirmed through the development and popularity of various diseases now that were not known or common 30 – 50 years back. Something needs to be done, and it should be done fast!
The world is fast losing the health battle to deadly and chronic diseases. Furthermore, research has shown that average Life Expectancy in Nigeria is fast declining due to factors that can be greatly controlled by us. One of such factors is our DIET. Thus, there is a great need for everyone to acquire the right and adequate information required to save ourselves and our loved ones from losing the health battle.

You can virtually find interview questions online. Find someone to practice answering them with or do that in front of a mirror. You need to come prepared with stories that relate to the skills that the recruiter wants, while emphasizing:

• Your strengths
• Your willingness to work and flexibility
• Your leadership skills
• Your ability and willingness to learn new things or ideas
• Your contributions to the organizations in which you have worked
• Your creativity in solving problems and working with people

Find out in advance how well you are suitable for the job. With this, you will know if you lack a particular skill. Plan how you will convince the interviewer that you can learn the skill that you lack.

2. Prepare a list of questions you would like to ask during the interview.

Here, choose questions that will demonstrate your interest in the job and of course, the company. This might involve giving a comment on the news you came across on the company’s website, and asking a question in relation to it. Furthermore, ask questions based on the job you will be expected to perform. These may include:

• What your day-to-day responsibilities of the job would be like.
• How your responsibilities and performance would be measured and by whom.
• Ask them to explain their organizational structure.
• What computer equipment and software are being used.
• The organization’s plan for the next five years.

3. Be adequately prepared.

Remember to go with important items to the interview. These include:

• Copies of your CV
• Notebook and pens
• Copies of letter(s) of recommendation, licenses, transcripts, etc (if applicable)
• Portfolio of work samples (if applicable)

4. On the interview day, be sure to:

• Arrive there 15 to 20 minutes early.
• Dress appropriately in a manner relevant to the job. Appear professional.
• Turn off your mobile phone.
• Go with your sense of humor and remember to smile!

5. Exhibit a high level of confidence during the interview.

Your level of boldness must be firm but let the interviewer begin the dialogue. Your body language must reflect a positive message.

• If a hand is offered to you by the interviewer, shake it firmly.
• Maintain eye contact with him/her/them.
• Be attentive. Welcome all questions with a smile even the difficult ones.
• Give honest answers and be direct with them.
• Answers must be developed speedily in your head first before you respond. Be sure to understand the questions asked before you respond, otherwise, ask for it to be repeated or clarified. Take your time to give appropriate answers.

6. Conclude the interview with a good impression.

Ending the interview with a good impression is another great way to ensure your success.

• Be polite and allow the interview to end as at when due.
• Summarize any strengths and experiences that you might not have mentioned earlier.
• Mention a particular activity or achievement that fits the job.
• Enquire if there would be subsequent interviews.
• Ask when the recruiter plans to make a selection or decision.
• Specify a time when you may contact the recruiter to learn of the decision.

Finally, don’t forget to send the employer a thank-you letter or note after the interview.

Adesiji77:
A Nairalander took the pictures below around 11.45am today near Our Lady Of Apostles Bus stop, along Odo Ona Apata Road, Ibadan.

The guy (with a red backpack) wore a pair of roller skate shoes and held on to a moving "okada" motorcycle. Was this due to fuel scarcity or just for the thrill of it?

He eventually "alighted" on the other side of The Palms Shopping Mall, Moshood Abiola Way (Ring Road) and appeared to have brought out his wallet to pay the Okada rider cheesy

The Nairalander was equally in a moving vehicle at the time, as such, he could not take much clearer shots.

Politics / KOLE AJAYI Celebrates His 49th Birthday Today by Canaanland: 11:04am On Apr 03, 2016
Happy birthday to an icon, A distinguished Barrister, A politician, A Governorship aspirant of Accord party in Ekiti state Governorship election in 2014...
Now an APC member

Congratulations as you celebrate your birthday today may you live long to fulfill your dreams and Aspirations sir

.....

Its still like a flashing thunderbolt from the blues heralding the advent of One of Humanity's most intellectually endowed creature who was hatched about 48 years ago, precisely when the family of Late Pa. Julius Oluwafemi Ajayi and Princess Mary Ajayi produced their only boy, Kole at the Maria Assumpta Hospital, Ado-Ekiti. As at then, the father was a Class Tutor at the Annunciation Secondary School, Ikere Ekiti where he was then the House Master of the Prestigious Ogoga House and also tripled as the Geography and Bible Knowledge Teacher alongside Prominent Nigerians like the then father Alonge, now Bishop Francis Alonge former Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Mr. Faboya, now Professor Faboya of LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Mr. Banji Ogundele who later became the Editor of Tribune in the 70s and a host of others. The mother, Princess Mary Ajayi (Nee Adelabu) was then a Pupil-Teacher at St. Joseph’s Primary School also at Ikere and also a Prolific Woman Activist of the 'Emi ni L'Ado mi' fame.
Kole commenced his educational career in the kindergarten at St. Joseph’s Primary School, Ikere-Ekiti and later went to St. John’s Afao in Ikere-Ekiti to commence his primary school education properly in 1970.
In the year 1974, Kole finally moved to Ado-Ekiti when the family-head, His amiable Father;Late Femi Ajayi joined the employ of the Defunct Western State Ministry of Education, Inspectorate Division at Ibadan. Kole consequently enrolled in primary 4 at the St. George’s Catholic Primary School, Ado-Ekiti and completed his Primary Education in 1977. In September 1977, he was admitted into the famous Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti and completed his secondary education in 1982.
In the year 1983, he secured admissions into the then Obafemi Awolowo University, Ado-Ekiti which later metamorphosed nominally into Ondo State University Ado-Ekiti to study Zoology. He completed his university education at the record age of 20 years in the year 1987 and went for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps in Akwanga in former Plateau State but now in present day Nassarawa State.
After his Youth Service, Kole was employed by the Late Business Mogul, Otunba Mohammed Aliu Jobi Fele as a Management trainee where he learnt the basic rudiments of business, Leadership and other enduring management skills that drive him till this age.
In 1989, he joined the services of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti as an Administrative Officer. He was in charge of admissions and statistics for about 4 years after which he resigned voluntarily to start his own private business ranging from consultancy, hum an Capital development, Commerce and Publishing.
In year 2000, he was elected National President, University of Ado-Ekiti Alumni Association and automatically became a member of the University’s Governing Council. During his tenure as the National President of the Alumni, Kole Ajayi was able to inject a lot of innovations into the Alumni both in the university and other universities in the country.
Barely one year after assuming office, he was able to build an Alumni Centre for the university which was the first in the country and it was commissioned by the then Governor Otunba Niyi Adebayo with all foremost Obas in Ekiti in attendace. Kole, during his tenure, ensured the establishment of at least 7 state chapters of the Alumni Association across the country.
In the year 2002, he convened the meeting of all Alumni Associations of all the universities in the country and facilitated their formulation of an Umbrella Association namely the: Conference of Alumni Associations of Nigerian Universities (CAANU) where he later became the body’s Public Relations Officer. He later hosted the body in Ekiti in 2002 to the teeming applause of keen observers.
Kole’s activities on the Governing Council of UNAD was very visible. The then Council comprises eminent Nigerians like Late Chief N.F. Aina as Chairman, Chief Wole Olanipekun, Prof. Agbede, Nze Mark Odu, Late Mr. Eperokun and a host of others. He was a member of very sensitive committees of council namely: Finance and General Purposes Committee,Council Appeal Committee, Law Review Committee. He also represented the Council on the Board of Centre for Research and Development when the council was dissolved by the Ayo Fayose Government, he retained his seat as the Representative of Alumni and he was also visible on that council headed by Late Chief Akin Omoboriowo.
Kole Ajayi was nominated into the very sensitive 5-Man Interview Panel that interviewed Vice Chancellorship candidates in year 2004 where Prof. Israel Orubuloye emerged as Vice Chancellor.
As a mark of recognition for his ingenuity and cerebral capacity and a relentless Drive to achieve corporate results, the then Governor of Ekiti State Dr. Ayodele Fayose, in year 2004 appointed him a member of the then revered Ekiti State Government Advisory Board.
Also in year 2004, Kole Ajayi formed the Ekiti Progressive Forum (EPF) and was elected the National Coordinator. In the year 2004,He obtained the support of Government and the good people of Ekiti State to organize the EKITI DAY Celebrations for that year and the occasion was attended by all former Governors of the old Ondo and Ekiti States. In 2005, the same feat was repeated by EPF under Kole's tremendous but Humble Leadership.
In the year 2002, Kole Ajayi had the bright instinct of contributing to the information dissemination in Ekiti State and he established The Forum Newspaper and this indigenous tabloid has been widely renown to be the most stable, consistent, regular, balanced and unbiased local Newspaper in Ekiti State.
In the year 2003, Kole Ajayi had a brief stint of partisan political participation when he joined the Alliance for Democracy and became the flagbearer of the Party for the Elections into the State House of Assembly, Ado-Ekiti Constituency but the election was not favourable to him in view of the craving wave of Ekiti people for change.
As part of his contributions towards the development of Ado-Ekiti, his community, Kole was in 2009 elected as the National Public Relations Officer, Ado-Ekiti Progressive Union, a position he relinquished year before the last
As a dogged Achiever, his agelong dream to become a lawyer found expression in the year 2002; when he went back to the secondary school to rewrite literature as a prerequisite for studying Law. He did not mind his pure science background with a degree in zoology to boot, but fogged ahead after securing a credit in literature to enroll into a seemingly unconnected field of study in the Faculty of Law of the then University of Ado-Ekiti in the year 2005 as a full time student. Notably,Kole shed all his social, political and business commitments to vigorously pursue his agelong dream which was eventually achieved in 2010 when he bagged his LLB degree in law and proceeded immediately to the Nigerian Law School, Lagos.
The icing on the cake was his call to the Nigerian Bar in October 2011 at Abuja. Eversince, he has commenced his legal practice, with Chambers in Ibadan and Ado-Ekiti; His Birthplace. In years 2014,kole Ajayi contested for Governorship under Accord and he ran a purely indigenous campaign with all his jingles personally voiced in Ekiti dialet.During the same period,he was a producer and presenter of 'Eto tiwan tiwa' on Radio Nigeria. The program was always presented in b dialet to showcase Ekiti values and potentialities. In order to meet up with the yearnings of Ekiti people and to align with the change mantra of the Federal Government,Kole Ajayi has recently defected to the A PC .
Kole is an Ambassador of the United Nations' Environmental Programme and a very intelligent Scholar. He was conferred with the Prestigious Award of Ekiti Exemplary Leadership by the Federation of Ekiti State Students' Union(FESSU) in 2004 and the Eminent Personalities Award of UNAD's Faculty of Law in 2009.In the year 2004, Barr. Kole Ajayi was honoured by the Confederation of Ekiti Students in the United Kingdom(Birming ham Chapter).
Kole as He is fondly called is widely travelled and he has attended several Conferences and Seminars in Africa and Europe amongst which is the Human Capital Development and Effectiveness index Seminar in Manchester, United Kingdom.
I wish to join millions of Nigerians and most importantly the Ekitis for the eventful life of a man of vision, full ideas, creative intuition, limitless brilliance and dogged persistence. His contribution to the overall socioeconomic development of Ekiti is immense and worthy of emulation
