If you control the value of the Naira will you not trade with the outside world? The naira is not a convertible currency and as such its value will be dependent on things like our reserves and the perception of the international market as per our ability to meet our international obligations among others.

the "7 million Naira" would be more than enough to buy 2 plots of land in other Enugu areas already inhabited by people, and rightly so.

People invest in real estate for different reasons. I believe the target market for this venture are those who cannot readily put down 7 million Naira today, but probably can over an extended period of time. To them getting some interest in the land immediately at a reasonable and affordable price is of paramount importance. Investment on infrastructure can come later and on a piecemeal basis.

He is saying that sell your fx proceeds at the interbank market. The official rate does not apply in that market.

It has become something of high importance in Nigeria that building one's own house is a priority. Especially the yorubas and ibos (no tribalism) make it a duty to have a property at least at their villages.
In the western society (USA), it has been observed that not every one see it compulsory to own a property. The society don't see it a big deal to do that. Many people rent apartments and still have a happy home.
I am not saying it is a bad idea to own (even I am in support) but I see that it is not possible for everyone to own a property.
Now I put it to you as a Nigerian, is it compulsory for you to have it as a target?

You introduced America into your argument, is home ownership not one if not the most important component of the "American dream"?.In America a slump in the housing market is seen as evidence of a downturn in the economy. Anywhere in the world property ownership is critical to wealth creation hence the importance attached to home ownership.

tiling with spacers is just a matter of style. The use of equipment and technical know how adds to the quality of work and the end product. The local artisans for some reason do not invest in either and that is the bane of our construction industry. You tend to get better skilled artisans from other African countries. In Kenya companies invest in training locals on how to use their products properly this help to deepen the pool of skilled labor.
