SSC guys dont get promoted faster. Get ur facts right. You actually have to do courses and pass them before u are promoted as an SSC officer where as DSSC officers get promoted every 4 or 5 years without having to write exams. Same way an SSC officer can covert to be a regular officer, there is also a conversion exam for DSSC officers. I will rather prefer DSSC to SSC. And trust me, that "beef" of regular or SSC officers is practically dead. A former chief of Air Staff was an SSC officer. Many stuffs are now political. Even though a DSSC officer may not get to be a cheif, how many regular officers actually fill in those positions.

Gbam! After all d peak is major-general 4 all types of commission unless u become coas.

DSSC in the Army are meant for Non-Combatant civilian graduates who voluntarily wish to join and serve the NA in any capacity. SSC is meant for Combatant cadets and officers and rank and file of the NA who've are serving already in the army. An SSC gets more promoted than a DSSC graduate because of their combatant roles and responsibilities in the army. DSSC is better for a civilian graduate who wish to join the army.SSC has stipulated age requirements compared to DSSC whose age requirements are flexible.

Soory sir! I disagree with ur post! Dssc don't write promotional exams to get promoted while ssc write promex and once u miss u will loose seniority of about 3 months.

Man you are very wrong if you think DSSC is Actually better than SSC, you stated 4points nd not all are correct, and on the contrary i want to tell you that SSC is better, you said it yourself that SSC guys have to compete with the guyz who came out of NDA(Regular) didn't you ask yourself why DSSC don't compete for appointments or promotions? it is because the SSC guys will get promoted faster than the DSSC guyz and thats the basic truth, as you may know, the guyz taken into the DSSC are usually older guyz Btw 29-34, that would tell you they are not needed to be fully active

Pls broo get facts b4 commenting on this issues! All have advantages n disadvantages but even SSC officers are envious of DSSC officers because of the following reasons:
1. As a DSSC/DRC officer you don't need promex(promotion exams) to be promoted to d next rank. Once you have good annual evaluation, attain courses at ur career level, no any disciplinary record and also available vacancy u will b promoted unlike SSC.
2. A SSC officer gets an antidate of 2 yrs after commissioning meaning he will spend 3 yrs as a 2nd lieutenant b4 promoted to lieutenant which is automatic promotion except oon some occasion while DSSC is commissioned as a lieutenant(before d ssc officer becomes a lieutenant, the same dssc officer is having just a year left to become a captain) if u have any army officer friend as him about the case of SSC 39 and DSSC 18 army dey both trainined together in NDA n where commissioned in 2011, the DSSC officers are 2 yrs old captains while SSC39 are still lieutenants.
3. SSC is superior to DSSC in terms of seniority of commission cos upon conversion SSC get converted to regular commission(same with dos dat spend 5 yrs in NDA) while DSSC converts to DRC(direct regular commission) Dats if u u want to reach peak of ur career. The wahala for SSC officers is only 5% are allowed to get convert to regular commission which is stated in htacos officers. I rest my case here.

Education / UNILORIN Student Withdraws From School Over Religious Belief (PHOTO) by chat2deen(m): 10:42am On Sep 11, 2016
300 level student of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Abolarin Akin Jephthah has written a letter to his school management explaining why he chose to withdraw from being a student of the school.

The sociology student, with the matric number 13/77JD010, in his letter addressed to the Deputy Vice-chancellor Academics of the University of Ilorin, claimed that he has now encountered the light of the gospel and has chosen to repent.

The student based his withdrawal on his new depth in the knowledge of Christian faith.

He explained in his letter that he cannot continue to be a student of the higher institution with a West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result he got through examination malpractice.

Are you serious that a Major, a junior field officer commands a Brigade of the Nigerian army. If this is true, how then do we expect the army to flush out BH if a Major who should be commanding a company now commands a Brigade, not even a Battalion.

Its not possible. NA is not that under-staffed. A major can't command a Brigade.

There are 3 brigades under the command of the 7th Infantry Division: 21st, 22nd and 23rd Brigades. I researched on their OCs, especially the 21st Brigade whose AOR is Maiduguri, all I saw was Brigadier Generals as OCs and another Brid. Gen as acting GOC.

Pls name the Brigade so that I'll narrow my research. I don't bliv the NA can take the risk of allowing a Maj lead a Brigade in the NE. Prove me wrong, Bro.

U don't have any idea on the command style of Nigerian army, a major is a senior officer he capable of holding staff office appointment at his own level. U dint read wat I said about the major, I said he is acting brigade commander of brigade rear while d d brigade main is command by a brigade commander in there location in NE.

U mean a Lt commanding a Bridgade? A brigade is the 2nd largest military unit after a Division, the only unit capable of independent operations. A Col, but sometimes a General, precisely Brigadier General commands a Brigade, . Do you know how many ranks and years between Lieutenant and Brigadier General? Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lt Col, Colonel, then BG. That is about 24 yrs. Am sowie it not possible, unless we are talking about corruption. U didn't even say Lt Col.

Maybe he is a Lieutenant, commanding a company of a Battalion in that Brigade, or independent company in the Brigade (not under a Battalion).

He said acting garrison commander! What Mecoy said was true because d same brigade was my former unit, d brigade is currently somewhere in the theatre of operations (north eastern nigeria) the brigade in question was headed by acting brigade commander rear which is major but recently a colonel has been posted to act pending when finish there own part of there role. The brigade commander is with d troops in NE.
Literature / Re: Tears Of A Soldier............ A Military War Story by chat2deen(m): 6:18pm On Aug 01, 2016
EzeNri:

A proper battalion is made up of atleast 3 majors. Its not proper then to use a Major to command other Majors. Though Majors are also appointed as 2nd I/C of a battalion, but are promoted to Lt Col before they can assume full command of a battalion.

Important figures in a battalion headquarters include:
*. Commanding officer(CO) (invariably a lieutenant colonel)
*. Second-in-command(2i/c) (Major)
*. Adjutant(captain)
*. Quartermaster(QM) (major)
*.Quartermaster (technical) (QM(T))
*.Medical officer (MO) ( Royal Army Medical Corpscaptain or major)
*.Administrative officer ( Adjutant General's Corpscaptain or major)
*. Padre( Royal Army Chaplains Departmentchaplain 4th or 3rd class)
*.Intelligence officer (IO) (lieutenant)
*.Signals officer (lieutenant)
*. Regimental sergeant major(RSM) ( warrant officerclass 1)
*. Regimental quartermaster sergeant(RQMS) (warrant officer class 2)
*.Regimental quartermaster sergeant (technical) (RQMS(T)) (warrant officer class 2)

Those are by the books they are british standards what we learn from academy does not necessary reflect d outside world. I don't know about u, as for me am speaking from experience cos am currently serving my fatherland. A major can command other majors because we have junior majors and seniors majors, Infact coursemate can command coursemate even if they are of the same seniority cos senior number will take charge among his coursemate, just like d case of OP who was once an appointment holder (cadet sgt) in d academy.

I love military or covert intelligence stories. Its an interest. I love ur work. Please do the correction. A Major can never command a battalion, even if the COAS is high on Osogbo weeds. A Lt Col should be the highest officer in that formation with a proper battalion office with moderate staff of 12 set u. #Viva

Wrong man! There is no vaccum in the army, a major is normally a Company OC in a battalion but he can b posted on acting role as per acting CO.
