Am from Benue and I married an Igbo Lady and I can confidently tell you that they are awesomely GOOD.
Family / Re: What Is The Benefit Of Marriage To A Man in this present time? by Chiedygirl: 12:52pm On May 06, 2022
Some of your points here are invalid

I'm an advocate of marriage, as long as it's devoid of societal pressure

* bringing back our culture will only bring about the old master-slave relationship kind of marriage that used to exist then.

* virginity test is trash, the presence of the hymen in the female genetalia has always been an indicator of virginity in women, coupled with the dinosaur mentality that a woman must bleed during her first sexual encounter. These are very wrong, bec
ause, it's very obvious that our current generation indulge in lots of sexual activities, while still identifying as Virgins, a lot of them indulge in anal s*x, oral s*x, lesbian s*x and a host of other kinds of sexual activities. And you feel a virginity test will be able to detect such lifestyle. Meanwhile, a lady who doesn't bleed on her first s*x encounter is labelled a LovePeddler right? So how does virginity test determine one marriage is going to be successful.

From your deductions you're of the belief that a happy marriage stems from being chaste, you're focusing on just one aspect of the foundations of a successful marriage, and creating a lack of balance. Both couples can be chaste but lack; Emotional maturity, mental maturity, spiritual maturity, financial maturity, etc to cope with the challenges that every marriage must face, these are equally important virtues one most posses before settling down with a partner, alongside sexual self control and discipline.

Sexual chastity alone doesn't guarantee an iota of success in your marriage. Both parties should have developed themselves in the fundamental areas of life before marriage should even be considered.

Nazgul:
Marriage became useless to men because we abandoned our culture and tradition and embraced that of the Western world.

When you start sleeping with girls from the age of 16 and have a body count of close to 50 girls by the time you're 30, what usefulness do you expect to get from marriage? Truth is even you the man wouldn't value the marriage and would immediately resume your sexcapade after your honeymoon

The only way to restore decorum in African marriages is to embrace back our culture.

Pre marital sex must be seen as an abomination, those who practice it would be banished from their community.

Virginity test should be one of the requirements a girl must possess before marriage can take place, this will reduce promiscuity in girls.

A law should be passed that ràpists would earn in instant death sentence upon conviction. This would reduce promiscuity in guys cos no one would be willing to risk his life for a few minutes of pleasure.

Also there should be laws governing marriages that would make unfaithful partners risk jail term.

Once this measures can be put in place, I strongly believe that marriages would become as rosy as it was meant to be. And wouldn't be useless to both men and women.

Politics / Re: Sit-At-Home & JAMB: What Is The Fate Of South-East Students? by Chiedygirl: 5:45pm On May 05, 2022
How Many fulani bandits has ESN apprehended? People that demons are using to ravage an already ravaged SE. You guys should continue towing the path of destruction, the Northern Muslims were cheering the violent religious extremists when they started, today the heat is affecting everyone in the North, now some vile demons have started theirs in the SE, and some empty-brained individuals are supporting them. I pray every well meaning Igbo person rises up against these cursed people.

HazardAwka:
I repeat, IPOB, ESN are no terrorist group. How can a cattle rearer move around with AK47 in a land that is not his' and you expect the youths to sit and watch them destroy our farms and kill our women?

Celebrities / Re: Julius Agwu's Wife, Ibiere Shares Cryptic Post Amid Marriage Crash Rumours by Chiedygirl: 4:12am On May 02, 2022
But you believed the one someone Said on nairaland because it massages the victim mentality in you appropriately.

philip0906:

How many of such incidents have we seen that have turned out false? How many? Same way people have personal accounts about supposed rapists that turns out false. Abeg make we hear word.
Celebrities / Re: Julius Agwu's Wife, Ibiere Shares Cryptic Post Amid Marriage Crash Rumours by Chiedygirl: 4:02am On May 02, 2022
The number of likes and replies on his post goes a long way to show that a lot of men, especially on nairaland, lack the mental and emotional ability to be in a relationship.

Just some mentally and emotionally broke men replying with their crowd mentality to an issue they have less than 10% knowledge about.

He just choose to completely omit the part that the comedian was in the habit of disrespecting the vows he made to his wife by being a serial cheat, and then decides to lay emphasis on fake claims that the woman probably left him because he's broke.

I'm seriously worried for the women that'll end up with these set of guys.

DKM123:
A man was cheating CONTINUOUSLY in his marriage causing his partner unhappiness, depression and STDs.

Yet, one ekperima on front page say it is a flimsy excuse for a woman to want divorce and that it's cos of money that she doesn't want to be with the father of her kids she has been with for 14years. It doesn't matter that Julius Agwu is currently a Glo ambassador with multi million contract asides his numerous gigs.

Of course his fellow men agree cos this is Nairaland full with bullsheet men. Smh.

Can't fault this in anyway. Learn, unlearn, and Relearn. Most Nigerian students need
this mentality to rise above the mediocrity that's currently drowning them. Instead of adding more value to themselves through learning new skills after school or during school, they just want to be employed with the low quality knowledge they get from higher institutions, knowledge that can't value to any serious minded establishment. The university degree on its own today is almost valueless, if you want to live a legit comfortable life in this country after school, try adding more value to yourself by acquiring relevant paying skills before jumping into the money making marathon race.

Family / Re: Parents, Don't Use Your Kids As Your Retirement Plan. by Chiedygirl: 10:47pm On Feb 01, 2022
This message should be preached in churches.

Olam09:
Don't use your kids as your retirement plan.

Resist the urge to do it. I understand that tendency as an African parent to bring up your kids and invest everything you have into them, hoping that when you all get older, they'll reciprocate the effort.

I'm not saying it's completely wrong, I'm not saying it is right either.

I'll explain...

One of my favorite songs from Bella Schmurda is Vision 2020. I love the way he rode the beats on that song.

But here's a snippet of the lyrics from that song...

Mama call me, she said Chinedu is balling

What are you doing son? You are dulling

Four years in LASU is really nothing

Better get that money son, we are starving

You see these four lines, coming from a mother, can make any youth go all out to dip their fingers into anything for money.

Imagine a mother oppressing her child mentally like that? Comparing him with Chinedu. So, because he's not throwing money around, he hasn't started living yet?

Four years in LASU is really nothing... Go and get the money anyhow you can. We are starving.

Omo... E choke. This kind of pressure has pushed a lot of daughters into refurbished prostitution in the name of whocup.

Now... The sons are cutting up their whocup girlfriends like suya and trying out their hands at black magic.

No doubt, home training is very important, and part of that home training is helping your child build that self confidence and self esteem.

That understanding that no matter as e bad reach, they shouldn't compare themselves with the Chinedus around them.

That understanding, that they themselves have what it takes to acquire that wealth and it will only require their patience.

But home training isn't enough. Work hard to ensure that your kids have the leverage you never had.

I understand that not everyone will be stupendously wealthy, but I want my kids to to come from a home that can afford the basic things rich kids have.

I don't think I want my daughters to grow up and start following men up and down to buy them coldstone and iphone.

Or just for them to enjoy AC inside car.

I don't want them to be oppressed seeing their friends chop life on Instagram .

Godforbid!

I don't think I want my sons to be put through so much stress trying to build everything from scratch without support from anywhere.

In everything... You're not the only one that is struggling. We all are struggling in this country. Stay content. You're not the only one that needs money, we all want the good life, don't be stupid.

So what can we all do?

The message remains the same, learn productive and well paying skills.

The next generation of illiterates won't be people who didn't go to school, but people who can't learn, unlearn and relearn.

Get skilled up, I don't care if you're in school or not. Skill up.

If you're still spending time chasing cruise on social media, and jumping from one IG live to the other, trying to make yourself look busy...

well... I wonder what your kids will do.

Don't use your kids as your retirement plan, particularly when they are still young. The kick back effect could be negative.

Try very hard to avoid a situation where your first child would be forced to grow up so fast and delve into the labour market (legal or illegal) just to raise cash to support the family.

Just try very hard.

Stay away from pressure people, or learn to control it.

Stay away from these clubs with hype men wey get uncontrollable mouth. They should do their jobs o, but stay away from them.

My own contribution. ✌️
