Merry Christmas chiggsglover.

We're patiently waiting for the Christmas get together pics.
Get together couldn't hold yet, I was really engaged in my first irish Christmas party.

Christmas gifts before Christmas..... I would have said they were small sha. But I'm only less than a year and I got this amount of gifts.
Gf got enough to fill a huge traveling bag. I won't compare, if I can receive this amount on my first year here, why will I compare with someone whos bee
here all her life Hahahaha.

I try sha. In Nigeria, apart from food, no one gives Christmas gifts. The entitled GF in Nigeria have found a way to get it. By fire by force.

First picture is a Christmas crackers on my table
It's a game, it has gifts in the middle, and two people hold both ends. Anyone that pulls the gift alone gets it. And when you pull it, it makes a pop sound.
I won my first game, should have claimed the victory and not play again. I got cocky and played the second time. Of course it didn't end in Praise, I lost. This is why I hate gambling!!!! cry

Second pic is the first course. Before this, we had a glass of Champagne.
On my plate is steak, chicken breast, stuffing, irish potatoes of course, gravy, and.....i couldn't finish this. I would have cleared it if I was alone. I noticed they all stopped eating when they were halfway. I dropped my folk and knife o.
Before they think I'm starving.

One amazing thing was that they kept the drinks outside, close to the glass door, natural freezer, if you know you know.
One amazing thing was that they didn't allow me to get up from my chair. They were so independent. Anything I wanted I got. Just like in a restaurant. I was pampered. This was a lovely Christmas tbh. Christmas at home is back breaking as my sis keep shouting Equality. If I no help them, I won't eat Christmas food o. Hian

Young girls of these days, they cannot do anything. Gf is lazy Gan. E weak me. I would have said I will go to Nigeria....that one is worse. It feels amazing to get things handed to you as a man. You see an old woman of 83 still running around to fill up my cup with tea and I begin to wonder. One of my client who is in her 40, still pour in the tea for her teenage sun.

On my way to the party. I was picked from my house.
Had to do some calls in the morning and for working, I got double pay. Yes, when you work on holidays, you get Double the amount of money. It's an incentive to encourage people to work, the show must go on. I was asked to work more, but I had to decline.

I got an invitation to join their family Christmas party. Although I planned to host some of my other friends, that would have been a breach of the Christmas regulations. The irish government wanted no more than two households to meet. With me joining the party. That was already two.

Second picture, dinner loading!!!!!!!!

Hi
Christmas is upon us already.
I'm part of those that believe that people shouldn't spend Christmas alone.

If you're in Dublin and want to join my little circle for Christmas. You're welcome. I actually organised something just to ensure that my acquaintances are not alone in the Christmas. I have lots of invitation myself and it was tough picking.... however I have the evening for the rest of my friends.
It's just great that all genders are welcome. No male will be hitting on you if you are a lady. They now know better through my enlightenment and would be more curious to other nationality.
Holla me if interested

The room looks quite big I must say and chiggs, abeg na 2 of us go share the money on any antic item you find ooo, Great one bro

It is big actually, the striking thing is the furniture. It's super convenient. I'm a very funny person. I spent my birthday in this house. Celebrated with myself. Sleeping in this huge bed was a good treat for me. And it was silent. I woke up from sleep with birds tweeting.
That was very satisfying.

I had to leave my former place cos I could hear my neighbor talking on the phone. He would talk into the night, I subconsciously had to wait till 12 am or 1am before I could sleep.
I would have complained but will he start making his calls in the cold sitting room?
if the call was for 1hr, it would have been bareable. He would speak for 6hrs straight. And my being found it ridiculous and vastly uncomfortable. How can a guy be on the phone for say 5 hours talking ooooo!!!!

My babe was using style to extend the video call to more than one hours, I would only sit, listen and laugh. It's normal for me to go spend a month without even making a single call. My family in Nigeria have complained and have gotten used to it.

Noise!!!!!!
It's a big thing here, the houses here were built when there wasn't any regulations on things like Soundproofing.... be ready to hear the stairs creak when you walk around, be ready to hear your walk around and God help you if they have their gf come around. You will hear the service from opening prayer to praise and worship, sermon and closing prayer. Especially if you're downstairs. You go hear am ooo.

Only way to escape this is to get a modern house or an apartment. One of my Irish buddy said he gets disturbed also by some noise in his apartment . Maybe it was built by a shady and shoddy builder. Or it was built way before the building regulation on soundproofing was created. Or one of his neighbor has a huge speaker. The noise is caused by the use of wood for flooring, and stairs.... and you know how dried wood sounds upon impact...well, I lived in a British house in Lagos, Nigeria, when I was younger, my family wasn't doing well like now. It was actually very old TBH. It's a one storey building. You know those buildings with bricks in the middle, with designs that's more British. It's very common to see such buildings in bungalows and one storey. I can remember I used to hear the music my neighbor plays above me. And my parents would grumble because they didn't like that genre of music he repeats.

I asked the irish people. Why is it that they hate skyscrapers. They said in the event of fire, how can they save people....that skyscrapers were souless with just boring glass with no intricate designs. Stone masons can't shape glass like they do to stones that will stand the test of time.

It's really hard to know a modern house as they look the same, the best bet is to get an extension. I've lived in an extension myself and it was very peaceful. The extension is a part of the house built without a floor above you. It's like a bungalow attached to the house cement instead of zinc. The only noise you'll hear is the one coming from your walls. My first single room was an extension. I posted the picture here. With red sofa and all. You'll be shocked to know that that room was more expensive than where I live currently. The high price was because it was close to a big university. I live well away from there now.
that's how it is. University really drive up the prices of things and bring about development and even employment.... you need to see what they're doing in nigeria.

The speaker thing is real. In my former house with the huge long garden, a neighbor well on the other side would set up a kind of karaoke with huge speaker and start singing gibberish. It won't disturb me as I was way in front of the house. I only hear it when I'm in the garden. But his next door neighbor would hear it. Though it stopped within a week though.

My Family think I'm weird for not celebrating my birthday. Though I do treat myself when I'm alone, away from them. A lot of the time, I'm reminded by my bank, university...why I don't celebrate is story for another day.

As for the Antiques. Na only me Waka come o.

I came upon a lovely art work here, the bigger one is called Young Girl in a Boat by Renoir. Absolute lovely. If seems to have lost color which might tell how old it is and increase its value. If I bought the house and everything in it. To sell this art, I'll have to take it to a specialist like the curator, who will examine the authenticity and an appraiser to get the value

Theres alot of items with hidden value. A woman bought a chinese vase in UK for less than €50, only for her to discover it was worth $9million, this was discovered early this year. My eyes have been sharp ever since. I started to appreciate vintage items and all. I would have visited the curiosity shop, charity shops and all, but this lockdown has them all closed.

Although this room is much bigger, but my rent is the same. And the location is closer to work and would save me some stress. The major reason I moved was cos of noise, for some reason, I could hear the guy above me talking on the phone, sometimes he would talk till 12, I now have to wait till he ends the call before I can sleep.

So that was my signal. I started going through the housing app and found this. There was no furniture from the picture so I decided to have a look all the same. What's the harm in that. Surprisingly, it was brimming with lovely furnitures, I had to reject some. I insisted on having two couches tho.

For those of you thinking I arranged my room specifically for this shoot, dont stress yourself, lots of places to hide away your things so it's easy to keep clean and neat.

I only made my bed and that's easy with the heavy duvet.

Dont mind me, I have started using candles, you people should come and save me o

Great thread! By the way, you mean you get 1TB at €20? That's roughly 14k naira. Meanwhile Here in Nigeria MTN only gives 75GB @ 20k.

We're fuucked man.
Theres lots of gap. The funny thing is the new network I now use on my phone is really fast compared to the broadband in my former house.

Thanks for the feedback.
The providing the formula part must be a great relieve for people like me who dislike maths, guess your school really understand the true meaning of "life no hard". I guess I'll have to face my fears now. Yeah.. I have been learning python for over a couple of months now and I'm doing pretty well, apparently. I have been able to build some basic python projects like madlib, number guessing game, among others. Trying to move on to a library, what python library would you suggest for data analytics ?
You're welcome, you can have a look at the course outline, some Library I can remember was python, scrap, matplot, numpy,....I glad you're getting used to it. Try to learn R also.

This is from Boohoo, this online store is mostly between uk and Ireland. I guess burna boy and Rema both came to model some of their special collection. Why I love this store is once you pay for a premier service, you get to ship for free. And stuff you order for here, arrives within a week. If not for the Pandemic, it would arrive in few days.

And they do spend alot of money on their models. The way the cloth appear is how you get it unlike some other stores.
Although its fast fashion, but it's very handy to have especially if you need stuffs and youre too busy to buy them yourself. You save time and the tfare which is usually a cap of €5 for a day. Same €5 will cover the delivery charges for a year here. Because I work around my area, I dont have any much need to visit town. I try to save myself from unnecessary waste of time as much as I can. Anything I can pay for to save myself time, I try to consider it.
When I say town, I mean, city center, it's usually the busiest part of a state. I posted lots of pictures about it, you'll normally see lots of people in droves. For exam in Lagos, our city centre is Lagos Island, Victoria island might be downtown.
I used to hate going to Lagos island when I was younger cos of how extremely crowded it is.

I got nice scarves, sweatshirts, turtlenecks, boots, face caps, tshirts, perfumes and all from this store.

With €27, ill Burn like the Boy grin

I've heard that the government has reduced the lockdown restriction in late November. Does anybody know if we still need to stay all 14days in the same residence or can we search for accomodation/ move after we've arrived? Because it's challenging finding decently priced place to stay for 2+weeks from Nigeria
Well, lockdown was reduced only inside Ireland, international engagement rules still applies. It's not difficult to get 2 weeks temporary accom, it's only a bit expensive to get the ready options.

You're doing well Chiggsglover. Quick question please, so far, in your data analytics msc program how much of maths have you encountered ?. If at all you have, are they just basic arithmetics or advance level arithmetic. I'm trying to see if I can dive into Data analytics.

To be honest, the course isnt easy.
What will make it easy is if you can program using python or R. For mathematics, it's the least of your problem as the formulas will be provided below your exam question paper. I mean All the formulas you need, there's no need to be cramming, then the way you're tested is in the complexity of the question.

You wont experience maths in second semester.
One of the lecturer left, and the way the exam will be administered will be different, the lecturer that is there now prefers theory and little calculation unlike the one that left, that one prefers only calculation.
